May 24, 2862___ A month. It had been over a month, and Kendra still felt off balance.
Of course she did, her damn left arm was gone. Nothing left but the remains of her shoulder, jagged scars covering her ribs and stomach. There were some on her neck as well, but not nearly as bad compared. She moved her right hand up to brush hair out of her face, a small frown forming on her face. She couldn't put her hair up, couldn't hold her blade, couldn't so much as aim her gun. She was useless. And it pissed her off to no end.
Screw waiting any longer. She needed a new arm. Now.
Kendra glanced down at her wrist and read over the holographic notes she had written down before starting out on her little 'adventure'. Celia Archer. Upper Class. Specialized in cybernetics. She was perfect, needless to say. Sure, she could have gone to Samuel - But honestly? Fuck that. She didn't need him to make more jabs at her for getting caught in the crossfire of something. Again. "Excuse me, is Ms. Celia Archer available?" Her voice was soft when she stepped into the shop, right hand going to once again brush hair behind her ear. "I was hoping we could chat." Well, it was one way to start. Feeling vulnerable wasn't something Kendra enjoyed at all, but she did have a sidearm hidden - Just in case.

The Minervae Sanctuarium, displayed upon a modest neon-esque display panel invited those in need to the good doctor's home for the wounded and ill. A quick scan of the building would pull up the extensive list of services that its staff specialized in, of which cybernetics was the top of the list due to the owner's vast experience in the field. Miss Archer had placed herself on the track towards the medical elite; so the advertisements had said, at the very least.
It was by no means a fully fledged hospital. Though it handled an assortment of services, both standard and emergency, the Sanctuarium was not equipped to handle too many clients. Thankfully, the secretary's boredom betrayed the emptiness of the building after pointing down the hall for Kendra to go. With a whisper the girl had alerted the named doctor of a new patient, and moments later the door slide open to invite her deeper.
"You are late," came a still, toneless voice from a small speaker within the hall. "If I have been forwarded the correct information, you are lacking in flesh and bone." Before Saunders could object, a door opened to her right, revealing the voice's owner in a traditional doctor's coat, with one synthetic hand inviting her in.
"Please, take a seat. We shall begin shortly. You may use the attached projection screen to select your desired model." The woman's lone human hand rubbed at her metal chin, pressing against its skin-toned surface in thought. She dug through cabinets and drawers to gather up her tools before turning around once more, brushing the bulk of her white hair out from her face.
"Do you see anything you like, miss?"

Kendra had to admit, she hated hospitals. She spent too much time in them when she was younger, and that extended stay after losing her arm didn’t help much. So she was on edge, nerves edging her thoughts while she walked back deeper into the building - only to tense slightly at the sudden voice. Right, she was still jumpy. That would need to be fixed sooner rather than later.
Lacking in flesh and bone, huh? Well, it was better than Samuel asking if he could actually have what was left of her old arm. The tardiness would have normally been a slight cause for distress on her part, but seeing as she was ‘lacking in flesh and bone’, the lapse in punctuality could be cast to the side just that once. Not having an arm made getting dressed difficult.
“I am indeed lacking, yes. Thank you for having me.” She spoke while following after the woman, moving towards the seat she had been directed to and glancing over the screen. Moving with only her right hand felt awkward and clumsy, and it was in the past month that Kendra truly discovered just how heavily she relied on her left arm. And in that time, she had also grown thankful that most of her shoes didn’t involve the complex invention of laces.
There were certainly quite a few models to choose from, ranging from complex and flashy, to simple and filled with utility. Had she wanted to, she could have even gotten a crab claw for an arm, but that might have interfered with her work just a tiny bit.
“Hm?” The voice snapped her from wandering thoughts, golden eyes cast towards the light haired woman that was kind enough to assist her. “Ah, right. I’m hoping to get a basic model, nothing too fancy. At least until I’m able to adjust to more complex types. I’ve never exactly needed one of these before, so I haven’t a clue what to expect.”
A light laugh left her, a small semblance of pain seeming to radiate from where her left elbow should have been. Phantom pain, she had heard about that. The sooner she got a new arm, the better.

The tools in question were light and meant simply for the diagnosis, as the doctor reserved the heftier tools for the 'workshop', as she enjoyed calling it. With the VI integrated within the entire cybernetics clinic, Minerva could work alone on the police officer who had sustained the massive damage to her arm. Or, rather, the stub of flesh that was once her arm.
Taking her datapad into the grasp of robotic fingers, Minerva scribbled down her observational notes: Left Arm missing, removal of remaining limb necessary. Clean up required. Restructure of shoulder possibly required. Ask? A nod was the only response Kendra would receive. It was her profession, after all, to cater to those who have lost their original form. It was her hobby to craft them anew, to perfect their flaws with the simple complexity of her cyberware.
"If you are asking for my professional opinion," Minerva began, puckering her lips outward, "I may recommend a modular model, yes? SynthTec's MAD-LH-two-zero-zero is one such replacement. Basic package at an affordable rate with down payment of ten percent, formatted to be equipped with the best Novus has to offer."
The doctor merely stared at her client after her suggestion was made. With a motion of her DocHelper, the screen before Kendra shifted to display the SynthTec full-arm replacement she had mentioned. A small blip at the corner of the screen was the VI's confirmation of a job well done, designed for Minerva's use but still in sight of the customer.
"It will be easier to adjust to it," she added. "My previous clients have said that the limb detracted from their doctor's estimated time of fully restored functionality, which I assume will be important to you as well, officer."

After the accident, Kendra had been given things to fight off the pain. Pills, to be exact. Sure she could have just shoved something into her NUIP, but relying on that for everything had never really been her style. So before coming to see the lovely woman who was assisting her - She had popped two pain meds. And they were starting to kick in.
Kendra glanced over towards Celia, listening to her explanation of the model she recommended while nodding. The money wasn't a problem in the slightest, but she did appreciate the information. Seeing as Kendra lived more modestly than a large chunk of her fellow Upper Class citizens, she had money to spare. But the model sounded exactly like what she happened to be looking for. Something quick and easy to adjust to. Something to get her back to work. Good.
"That looks fantastic, actually. Anything to get me back on the job sooner, the better." She turned her attention to the screen, running her finger over the image to zoom in and look at the detailing of the model. A good solid solution. Nice to start with, perfect to build off of. Ha, maybe she could get a rocket launcher. No doubt Samuel would want to poke the thing.
"How is if for sensitivity? Physically, I mean. I know some people choose to not have it connected to certain nerves, but would I be able to actually feel things? Such as gripping a weapon, or the warmth from someone." It was a bit of a stretch, but better to ask than not. She expected it to be dull if she could fee something - But knowing when she was holding a gun or anything else she might need would be beyond useful. Even more so if she needed to shove her hand into a dark hole.
At least she didn't have to worry about being bitten by anything anymore.

Not a single sense of hesitation to be seen in the officer before her. Minerva noted that down as well, next to the note about the missing arm, so it would be added to the patient profile she enjoyed building. Some of her clients took offense to her insistence of knowing the little details about their lives and reactions, though she hoped that Kendra would prove to be a little more open-minded. Then again, an officer was an officer. The good doctor tended to try and avoid them whenever possible.
"Simulated responses are the baseline functionality of the core module. You will receive feedback to touch and temperature at a basic level, though pain is ignored until the source of the pain reaches your organic nerves, such as through the spread of flame or a bullet puncturing your shoulder." The waterfall of cybernetic knowledge brought out another smile from the doctor, controlled but most certainly proud of her intelligence.
With another motion of her own synthetic hand, Minerva rotated the projected screen into a portrait view to better display the list she had loaded for her client. Information of Kendra's prospective modular components littered the screen from top to bottom while the helpful VI blip flashed in the corner once more, reminding the officer that she could scroll to her heart's content by a simple motion down the screen. The doctor made her way to her client's side, pointing at the list.
"You may wish to consider the SynthTec Dendrite Primary module as your first installation into the arm's system." Another note was penned into the datapad. "Not too expensive. It will enhance the system's built-in nervous connections and add additional systems to better simulate the sense of feeling. Customizable as well, in case you want to feel entirely human, but..." Her lips sealed shut. "Never mind. Ramble too much. How does it look?"

All those little notes had her curious just what they were. Of course, she could easily demand them while flashing credentials, but that wouldn’t be very polite. There was little Kendra had concerns over when it came to her life, or reactions. If anything, it just make work easier. She did the same thing for her coworkers.
“A basic level sounds fine. Not feeling pain would also make quite a few things easier.” No more fear when sticking her hand into a hole. Not that she had experienced that in quite some time. Though, having someone that knew their stuff to the extent the woman before her did really helped to produce a comfortable feeling in her chest. A new arm could be counted as the basis of how her life went from that moment on. It was important, and she appreciated the work going into things.
With a smooth raise of her hand, she began to scroll over the specs of the different models. Weight limits, material, weight, rejection rates. Anything there would be useful. Though she paused when Minerva stepped to her side, gaze moving to glance up towards her face.
“But?” Kendra leaned back somewhat, a brow raised. “Well, now you have me curious, Doctor. What did you have in mind for customization? The model looks lovely, and I certainly trust you, but I’d love to hear what you have to say – If you’re willing to share, of course.”
