He was so close. Violet hues narrowed, the Vigilante slowed his pace just a hair as he skirted around a puddle. It had been a few hours since he began to tail the man several yards ahead of him, and his fingers were itching to just grab at the stick of Magix in his pocket so he could take the asshole out. A shaky breath left him - no, no no, he didn't need it yet. Teddy needed to be closer, to not worry about a potential extra enemy of his shoulder, to be absolutely certain his target was at his mercy.
But, he hadn't actually used any since he began the hunt for the guy who was tracking down Vigilantes and their supporters for sport, and god, his head ached and his cheeks felt warm. He wasn't addicted, he was probably just actually getting sick from being in the Slums for an extended period of time, and Magix would at least make him feel a little better--no.
Drawing in a breath, he quickly ducked around a corner, hiding just before the man he was following could turn to catch him. No no, he was so close to cornering him, he couldn't afford to be caught now. This guy had taken out people he knew. No one he was particularly close to--he didn't usually get close to people--but still, faces he'd known and would now never see again. His chest was tight as he pressed to a wall, taking a moment to breathe.
He couldn't let anything interfere with him dealing with this.

This guy. Don't even get Kyne started on this guy because wow, what a piece of work he was. Actually, on second thought, do get him started - he needed an excuse to kick someone's ass.
That was why Kyne was out where he was - there was a Secret Police member who had been roughing up people in the Slums, searching aimlessly and violently for Vigilante, Scavengers, or sympathizers. He'd killed people, that was for sure - though the government would deny that some of them were even people to begin with. Fucking monsters. Kyne was sure that the unsubtle, overzealous man he was chasing down would never have gotten away with that anywhere else but seeing as this was the bottom, these people didn't seem to count for anything, it just went more or less unnoticed.
Fuckers. Well, he noticed and he was going to do something about it.
The man he was following had hurt too many people, killed too many people and while some might have gone the less brutal route and just opted to rough him up, Kyne was pretty firmly decided that he had to die. He may not have know any of those who had been killed needlessly by the man but there were others who did, others who were mourning and even one of those was too damn many. This fucker had to go down.
Walking along the edge of a rooftop, Kyne kept his eyes on the target. The streets were a bit too busy, a bit too full for him to follow down there - as much as it might have hidden him well, he was also too damn short to see over people's heads and he wasn't going to let that be the reason that this man got away from him. Still - dressed in dark colors against a depressing charcoal backdrop of a sky ( with no stars visible - it would be too much to give the people down here stars, let them have hopes and dreams or something like that) he wasn't worried about being spotted. Creeping along rooftops and edges of streets was a pretty familiar path to him.
As the day wound by, though, he noticed something. Every time he stopped to skim the crowd, to take a look out for potential problems, he noticed that there was another man always there. Was he following too? Maybe it was just a coincidence, though Kyne certainly didn't believe in those any more. What he couldn't possibly know, though, was if the man was a danger at all. That was a potential problem - he wasn't, however, going to risk himself or his mission to find out. It would just be better to know he was probably there, that he was a potential threat, and just deal with it when he dealt with it.
Kyne slowed at the edge of a building as the man he was following stopped to talk to some woman. They were getting to less crowded areas, a part of the Slums with more places to sneak around and quiet areas that would be good for gutting this guy, and Kyne figured it'd be a good time to get on the ground now.
Dropping off the edge of a run down apartment building, he slid onto a rickety fire escape. Kyne made sure this was as quiet as possible, feet not making a big noise and trying not to jostle it as best he could but the thing was ancient and it creaked, groaning under even the slightest change in weight. That felt safe. Kyne crouched low into the shadow of the building, looking around for trouble. Where had that other man gone?

The decrease in people was incredibly welcome. Not only did it mean he'd probably get his chance to jump the guy sooner than later, but it also meant less potential casualties. Slowly, he slipped from the spot he'd paused at, continuing to tail the Secret Police member. It was unfortunate that height wasn't on Teddy's side, but he didn't need it. Whenever the fear of losing sight of his target was lost, there had been lucky breaks in the crowd, or the brief glimpses around corners.
And now, now the asshole had slipped down his last alleyway, if Teddy could help it. Keeping as quiet as he could, the vigilante lingered at the edge of the alley. Violet eyes were narrowed as he pressed his back to the wall, thinking. There was still a significant amount of distance between them, and he was also distracted by some woman now. Perfect. His hand was in and out of his pocket quickly, a stick of Magic between his fingers. Now he just had to--what the hell was that noise?
Teddy froze, frustration crossing his face as he looked up and around. Squinting as a flash of movement caught his eyes, he tensed. What--what? ?? ? ? What was that asshole doing on the top of a noisy fire escape? He was going to blow Teddy's cover, he just knew it, no he wasn't being paranoid and no it was not a symptom of withdrawal from Magix.
Sliding against the wall the fire escape was attached to, he narrowed his eyes. "Hey idiot," he hissed, trying to be quiet but also trying to get the stupid dark-clothed-jerk's attention. "What the hell do you think you're doing? Your death wish date with the fire escape can wait, can't it?" Yes because confrontation always benefited from being rude and accusatory, Teddy. Much class, very wow.

Ah. His luck was fantastic today. There had been no one around- except for right beneath him. Kyne heard a voice aimed up at him, glancing downwards and spotting a dark haired man looking up at him as if he were shit on the bottom of his shoe. Oh great. Everyone was a critic. Eyes rolled back in his head and he huffed out a short sigh of annoyance. Really. Could this... wait? Still though - that was the guy who'd been following too, wasn't it? Eyes flashed momentarily to where the target was (still chatting up that lady jeez maybe get a room and he could take him out while he was still 'distracted' after he was done with her) he decided to indulge the insult with a response.
With a grin sliding across his face, he peeked over the edge of the fire escape. "Nah, has to be right now. Can you stop upsetting my date by yelling by the way? I was kinda hoping to score tonight."
Yeah, he wasn't sorry at all. Taking care to not make more noise, though (he had an idea of what parts of it were creaking thanks to his shitty landing) Kyne stepped back off of it and slid part way down the ladder. He didn't drop down, not quite yet while he still had some advantage of an easy escape route should things get hairy, but added. "Though, you did ask so nicely for me to get my ass down here so I might as well ask. Why are you following poor unsuspecting people in the slums. Looking to cause some trouble? I've noticed you tailing that guy for a while now."
Hah. Damn right he'd noticed and was going to state it. Kyne wasn't really a .... subtle person. He just wanted to get this asshat out of his way and finish what he was doing before he lost his good chance.

It was clearly too much to hope for a reaction in his favor at this point. Teddy's fingers curled a little tighter around the stick of Magix in his hand, a small voice in the back of his head reminding him that if he just used it he probably wouldn't be so pissed over this guy. Buuuut, really, he doubted even those chemicals would be relaxing him at all this time. His eyes were adjusting and he could make out the grin that slide into place on the other man's face. Instantly, his nerves prickled, further irritation seeping into him in response to the cheeky words thrown back at him.
"Classy," he mumbled, mostly to himself, keeping his eyes on the redhead as he slipped a ways down the fire escape ladder. What he wasn't expecting to happen next, though, was to be called out for chasing the Secret Police member. Teddy's expression faltered, eyes widening a little. Oh shit. What if this asshole was a second Secret Police member?
He drew in a breath, rolling the Magix between his thumb and fingers. "None of your fucking business," he answered, eyebrows furrowed and giving a defiant smirk in response, although the slight shaking of his hands and the subtle glint of nervousness in his eyes might have given him away on closer inspection. "And I assure you he's not some poor unsuspecting person, but I'm not going into more detail than that to some show-off who likes dancing on rooftops and creaky old fire escapes."
Violet hues flickered back into the alleyway. The duo had shifted slightly, the one he was tailing just a little farther away from the door now, as if he were preparing to leave. Shit. Teddy looked back at the other man above him; he couldn't afford a two-versus-one situation right now. He wasn't quite that prepared. But maybe if he just used his Magix now and took this guy out... His hand raised a bit, but stopped at his stomach. No, he couldn't afford to give in to that; he had to wait for the right moment.

Oh. He wasn't going to play nice :(
Kyne watched him closely as he answered, noting the fidget, slight shake, the way he stood. Nervous, was he? Probably up to nothing good, probably had a reason to be on edge. Didn't everyone? Still, though, that was a bit of s relief for Kyne. Nervous people made bad decisions, this guy was probably not going to be a huge huge problem. It was also worth noting that he had been caught off guard by Kyne's observation. He must really have been into the whole following thing.
He hopped off the fire escape ladder, though he didn't take a step forward just yet. A bit more observation before he cut this guy off and continued what he came there for. Grinning, short cloak swaying around him from his movements, he teased, "Aww I'm such a good dancer though."
Slitted eyes flashed for a moment past the other young man, out into the street. He needed to get past him without causing a scene- but he also kind of needed to know if there would be backup for this guy or what. Nervous or not, another body was amother whole world of potential problems and as much as he just wanted to kill the sick fuck down the street, he wasn't going to jump out into too much danger to do it.
Kyne took another pass over the stranger, noting the way he seemed to be fidgeting with something in his hand. Whatever it was was probably some kind of something to worry about but that wasn't a huge problem. Kyne had his own weapons, and a few sticks of magix up his sleeves (quite literally thanks to the compartment on his gloves). If he needed a quick getaway, it'd be a breeze.

It wasn't a good feeling, the whole being-watched-closely thing. Especially when you were just a little paranoid, and especially when you really weren't up to anything "good." Teddy felt his heart rate pick up as the redhead jumped from the ladder, and though he wasn't exactly approached, Teddy did find himself taking a reflexive step back. Dammit.
Still, a scoff left him, and he rolled his eyes at the teasing remark. His gaze flickered back to his original target again. Whatever meeting he was attending seemed to be more or less wrapping up, and while Teddy didn't have anything standing between him and the SP asshole, he didn't want to turn his back on another potential enemy. That was never wise, and he could end up with a gunshot wound straight through the heart if he wasn't careful.
Putting his free hand palm up in a sort of shrugging gesture, he focused on the redhead again. "Oh, silly me, I wasn't aware I was in the presence of a good dancer," he replied in a faux-sweet tone. "Unfortunately I don't have time to request a dance, so why don't we rain check that? Back off and leave me to what I'm doing." It would be so easy to plug the Magix into his port and electrocute this guy--but he didn't really have many spares (rather, he had one spare) so every minute mattered. He couldn't just use it without actual provocation.

Hahaha yeah, Kyne was definitely going to abandon his goal just because he was asked really nicely. Yep. Super doing that. It was just that easy to dissuade him. The dark haired young man peeked back into the crowd for a moment - ahh he had his eye on the man still too? Good to know he wasn't completely tied up in dealing with Kyne. Not a complete idiot, then, good to know.
Letting the other finish his quips, Kyne shook his head. "There's a lot you're not aware of, if I gotta be honest with you. Mostly, leaving you with what you're doing interferes with what I'm doing and I can't have that, now can I?"
That was when Kyne chose to move nearer, making it really obvious that he was watching but not actually making any aggressive movements just yet. After all, ideally he'd be able to spook this guy or slip past him or something and not waste time and effort and magic in a fight he didn't really have to deal with. He grinned again as he came to a stop, all pointy teeth and cocky glint to his eyes, and added, "Probably for the best that you stay here and not get in the way. Some of us have important things to do."
Annnd there was a bit of seriousness there. Get out of his way, he had assholes to get rid of, jeez. A moment spared showed that his target was still in the crowd - - but for how long? He really had to be going.

It just couldn't be easy for a change, could it? Teddy narrowed his eyes in response to the redhead's words. If his own work interfered with the other man's, then that meant that they may or may not have some common goal. Or, he was trying to bring the guy to safety, but if that was the case, why not just take Teddy out?
Of course, as soon as the thought crossed his mind, the young man stepped closer, which tensed Teddy's nerves. But, being closer also let him get a closer look, too, and it was now that Teddy noticed the pointed teeth, slit pupils, and scaly features. A serious sort of threat was issues but, excuse him, was this guy going for a dragon look???
A brief look of awe came over him, blink-and-you'd-miss-it brief, but he quickly shook it away. Feeling his cheeks warm, he ducked into his collar a bit and stepped back. What was that threat he was given? Ah, yes. "You're right--some of us do have important things to do. Like taking out shitty murderers and such. Unfortunately, I can't do that while staying behind, so I must deny your insisting." His fingers clenched tightly around the stick of Magix in his hand. Man, now he really didn't want to fight this guy. Dr a g o n. I:

Aaaaand there went the pointy eared stranger, admitting his plans. Wow. It was sure a good goddamn thing that Kyne wasn't playing on the shiny bright side of the law otherwise that wouldn't be a great thing to admit. It was also probably good that Kyne didn't really catch what the look was that flashed over the other's face, though he thought he noted something. Either way - the other withdrew a bit, denying Kyne's request that he keep his pointy eared head out of the situation.
"Well, that's not gonna work," he said with a faux dramatic sigh, though the look of disappointment slid off his face pretty easily and back into that comfortably cocky smirk. "Gotta do this the hard way - though I hope you reconsider."
With a turn on his heel he quickly skirted around the stranger and out the alleyway with a lazy wave. He was generally pretty quick when it came to getaways but the moment he turned his eyes to the crowd he skidded to a stop. Oh. That was the um. Target. In front of him. Looking pretty pissed off and like he had overheard the thing about taking people out and oh.
"Funny thing, we were just talking about you," he said with a nervous laugh, backing up a bit hesitantly at first before taking quick steps back and grabbing a stick of fire Magix to load up. Right. Ok. Change of plans but he wasn't letting this opportunity get away.
