Lyante squeezed the handle of her umbrella a bit harder as she was led to the crime scene by what could only be described as a kid in a police uniform. Typical upper class kid, she though, not too bright, postponing his test as he got his mandatory police years out of the way. After his test he’d probably be classified to the lower class. Maybe middle if he made the right connections.
The kid had had the luck – or misfortune- to stumble across a ghastly crime scene. He would have called it in earlier, had he not been busy puking his guts out. As the boy tried to make conversation, Lyante ‘s patience was wearing thin, about to slap some sense in the boy, they arrived at the crime scene, the boy hesitant.
“Miss…can I stay behind? I…rather not,” he stammered. Lyante sighed: “Yeah, whatever, if they called in my department, I don’t think you can’t do much good. Besides, I don’t need even more puke corrupting the crime scene. Go call the weather department, tell them I will kick their ass if they take much longer shutting off this damned rain.”
The boy nodded, glad to be able to leave. Lyante stepped further into the backstreet until she saw something she hadn’t seen before. On the wall left of her stood the outline of a man, the silhouette itself part of the pristine wall, framed by a black outline, line a black paint bomb had exploded with the guy standing against the wall.
Even more striking was the charred corpse lying in the street underneath the unconventional work of art. She still wasn’t sure why she was called in, gruesome as it might be; this was no job for the Secret Police. Taking a closer look though, she noticed something odd.
A wound above the ear, she noticed the port gone, the head mutilated. She was sure they would find the NUIP missing. Suddenly the Secret Police involvement made sense. So had this been a cover-up, she wondered. Had they removed the NUIP and mutilated the corpse beyond recognition to stop the police from identifying the man or was this more sinister?
Blood spatter suggested the wounds were pre-mortem and the execution had been done locally. “Well, well, it seems we have a mystery,” she sighed, closing her umbrella as the weather people finally had received her threat. All she had to do now was wait for her colleague. They had told her he was a weapon’s expert, a fellow engineer, no doubt, Lyante thought, good. She couldn’t wait to discuss what kind of weapon could do this damage. The sheer amount and force behind it was too much for magix, at least, not without inflicting serious damage to the user too.
Ah, yes, this was going to be one hell of an interesting case.

The smell of fresh rain mixed with half decomposing charred corpses,as the water came pouring down on the streets on the location that he was called in to a gruesome scene, of course he hurried to make sure there was little time wasted with making their autopsy less stressful with hitting dead ends because of washed away evidence. Thankfully it was short lasted rain with the cloud cover still making a darkened sky.
A flitted slow movement of his little tufted tail behind him and a purple eyed gaze through glasses as he reached the scene . Arms unfolding as he prepared himself with sterile gloves on hand to do his job as a forensics specialist with the regular police force. With a tipping nod of his head he greeted his fellow officer . " This is quite the spread we have here .. don't we. By the way the name's Sven ,it's a pleasure to be working with you ."
Sven stepped into the backstreet where the initial crime scene was over looking it . Two bodies and the oddities of the arrangement , nothing to be described better as the definition of a fancy feast for the coroners eyes later. perhaps there was the possibility of another secret police officer who could have set themselves as the executioner for the victims if that's what the scene painted out to be . He shook his head .
He lowered himself to the first body mutilated beyond belief with a missing NUIP out of his head. he sighed taking a glance at the wound. then back to the woman working the case with him. "well ... I can assure you ... that this was one hell of a close encounter for the type of wound to be inflicted on this poor fellow. certainly the magix output from whoever did this had to have used quite a stacked amount. "
He stood again before going to check the other corpse ,pondering in his mind just what might have been the weapon involved.

Lyante shook her umbrella out as the rain stopped . From the corner of her eye, she saw someone approaching. The slim build and the antlers were something to look at, but Lyante’s favourite by far was the uniquely coloured hair. There was no mistake about it, this was the expert the higher ups had paired her with. She gave the approaching colleague a polite nod as he commented on the scene before them. “The name’s Lyante,” she said with a smile, “I’m looking forward to working with you too. I’d ask you what did this, but you are probably asking yourself the same damn question.”
“They also took their NUIP. If they’re trying to make it harder for us, there’s still enough DNA evidence to find out who they were. Everyone knows DNA is on record after they implant the chip. So why go through the trouble of taking it whole, but leaving enough body? It doesn’t seem like they lacked the firepower…Unless…”
Lyante sighed, she really hoped she would be as wrong as this whole situation felt. She knelt down, shaking her head and taking multiple samples of the ground, swabbing blood stains and taking pictures of the crime scene. “Well, you’re the expert, I’ll let you wrack your mind over what they used, what do you say we take a trip to the lab and see if we can get some matches for this DNA…if there is anything left."
Lyante joined her colleague as the clean-up crew arrived. “We have to keep this quiet,” Lyante spoke softly, almost nonchalantly. “There’s a distinct possibility we are dealing with a nutjob here, one that has just started his or her collection of NUIPs. After the last time, we don’t want another panic on her hands…although that did give us some more…freedom to operate. Let’s hope we find something that just points us to some brutal but braindead criminals. What’s your take on it?”
-- Lyante shrugged, it seemed like there was nothing more they could do here, they needed to switch the crime scene for a well-equipped lab and run some tests while they awaited the coroner’s report. She followed her expert colleague out of the alley, carrying the case with all the samples. “I’ll tell you one thing”, she said while putting on her goggles. “This is the most extreme case of identity theft I’ve ever seen.” YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

His colleague with introduction dubbed herself as 'Lyante '- quite a name he thought wholeheartedly; It suited her . Her explanation kept to a key with what happened as the two hovering about the scene picking up many DNA samples to cart back to the lab .
Running a gloved fingers together with a small sample of one of the victims blood between to test the thickness he stared intently at it. his heightened sense of smell could pick up traces of Magix from the two victims. each scent gave off distinct differences . He packed up what blood samples and damaged parts he could collect for evidence for further investigation . " smells like we may have more than one culprit? "
His purple hues dilated in examining the wounds closer as he made a sharp grin. " A sick collector for the fanatical parts. Always with the crazies... " he shook his head at that.
Funny she called him the expert , though he may have been near in the top he didn't label himself as an expert. Lyante with hushed words said on" keeping it quiet. " Sven nodding along to her . A splotched bloody gloved finger raised just in front of his lips as if he was hushing himself with secrets he tilted his head and gave a charming smile to his partner.
Rising to his feet Sven removed and disposed of his bloody gloves while he stood next to Lyante while they kept eyes on the clean up crew. Pulling off his glasses as the sun started to come out of the darkened sky , his tail twitched in unison with him pressing a switch on the side of his glasses to put them in U/V Sunglass mode .Gazing at the left overs being carried away.
" You say Nut job. ... Well I Say... a Deadly Maniac!" Sliding the Glasses back on the bridge of his nose in an odd fashion turning away to walk to their transport.
"Well let's not waste any more time in standing about, this case won't solve itself." He gestured to her to take a seat in the patrol transport and followed in after her.

Lyante got into the vehicle and nestled in the backseat. It was quite a while before they would arrive at the lab and the goggled secret police officer took the time to really look at her partner-in-crimesolving. His colors, the elegant mutations, Sven was something to behold. Lyante wasn’t one for too much DNA meddling, but in Sven’s case it looked natural, and come on, who could say no to a cute little tail. Lyante bit her lip, fighting the urge to touch it, wondering how soft it would feel. She quickly shook her head, stopping herself as she realized that perhaps giving in to her curiosity would make the ride very awkward. Distracting herself, she kept looking out of the window, remembering some of the buildings, their run down state, the less than stellar living conditions, she felt glad she had been able to leave all that behind. She always felt a bit weird as they passed a class barrier, suddenly the buildings looked better, streets were cleaner; the change immediately and very striking. She didn’t get a whole lot of time to think before the familiar buildings of the secret police lab came into view. Finally, they could get back to work. Lyante took most of the blood work, as she gave Sven most of the ballistic evidence; swabs from the wall, residues, a discarded magic clip they had found; there was enough stuff to go through for a while. Lyante smiled at Sven, playfully cooing that she would race him and that they should compare notes once he finished with his portion of the evidence. She hurried away, putting on a lab coat and running the blood works. Eventually the DNA replicating cycle had ended and Lyante came to an interesting conclusion. Practically skipping to the hallway, she sought out Sven and knocked on his door. “I’m still waiting for that pathology report, but wanna know something funny?”Without waiting for an answer, she continued, too eager to tell her colleague the intriguing news. “Both victims are in the database, low level workers, both without records. Nothing special so far, checking out their connections…However, there was a third kind of blood at the scene. With an unregistered DNA code.”Lyante grinned to Sven’s face. “That’s right, if we assume only one killer, this Scavenger,” she paused for added drama, taking off her safety goggles, “has the magix touch.”

Sven's ears twitched a little with the feeling of quiet watching eyes on him from the back seat , perhaps his partner was fascinated by his genetic mutations but he of course wouldn't be all that surprised to see that from her. his slight feeling that She was resisting an urge to probably touch his soft fluffy tail .
the returning view of the lab was a more welcomed sight than that of the crime scene they had left behind to be cleaned up .he smirked a little at her cooing in a race to compare the notes later. Sven made haste to take care of his findings and left Lyante to scamper off to do the DNA replications and blood tests.
He made an effort to switch his glasses back to regular optical mode , continuing to sift through the magix clips and other casings. He wasn't quite finished and the interruption of his work to be brought on by his partner arriving at the door with a knock. " I'm still working on it , but go ahead .. shoot "
Arms folded over and a brow raised in intrigue to her collective news, she was very eager.he pulled a fascinated look and fingers holding his chin with a hint of charm. " Y'don't say ? ."
"that is indeed correct .. if we assume only one ..it would have taken at least criminal mastermind to achieve that , however given our evidence it only points one way . With the multiple of three . but just what does it mean ... if two bodies ...and three killers? perhaps a message? " Sven looked at Lyante in a particular way with a frown that sparked something. his tail wagged once and stopped in mid motion from the sense of urgency to figure this case out.

“So you’re thinking three guys, huh?” Lyante gave him a pensive look, “can’t say I ever had that before.” Unaware of how her words would come across, she leaned back in the chair, stretching herself out before directing her attention back at Sven.
“So if I’m getting what you are saying here, our most clever guess of what happened is that two groups met for some shady deal, right? But then, someone dropped the ball and the scavenger got hurt. That would account for the blood, but absence of the body. Then, his bodyguards went overboard and overkilled the other group. That’s what you’re thinking?”
Lyante studied Sven’s face, looking for approval for her theory. “It would kill the serial killer theory, which is nice and two people using magic at the same time would be less of a stretch to get the kind of damage that was done...Clever thinking there, mr. Expert.”
She turned around in the chair, grabbing a desk and pulling herself closer to the computer. Logging in to the city’s master grid, she did a search on recent admissions to hospitals and people suffering from a magix overdose. Unfortunately, there were no hits.
“Ah well,” Lyante sighed, “worth a shot. No hits in the regular healers, which means we might have to pay our good friend the slum doctor a visit.”
Her mouth curled into a disapproving snarl. To say Lyante detested the vile person was an understatement; she would swear his DNA was combined with a cockroach. She held no love for the bottom feeding, opportunistic insect that always seemed to survive.
“Alright, how about we finish up here and get going?”
--
Lyante hated entering the slums, the dirty streets a rotten memory, leaving her with a taste in her mouth as vile as the open sewage that ran through some parts of the district. They stopped in front of a run-down little hovel of a building; the door long since disappeared, no doubt once kicked in by a police raid. Instead, only a large thick curtain served as the only separation from the outside world.
“Alright, mr. Expert, you better take the word here. I hate this guy’s guts and I’m always tempted to hit him in the face as soon as I hear his nasally whine of a voice. You’ll see what I mean.“
She let Sven take the lead as she picked up a powerful scanner, detecting four NUIPs inside the building.
“Let’s roll.”

Lyante's pensive look ,perhaps was a bit endearing to see as the oddity of their case was to be solved. his raised brows as the pen writing over lapping numbers and notes in his report that she had been waiting on while she had intruded a little on his work but of course all in good fun as his partner would be on such a case file as this .
"from everything in our evidence points to with the use of magix , blood samples check out so to speak , yes that maps out a fairly close painted picture to what we're looking for . that said.." He folded his arms briefly ." there were two different magix in use at the crimes scene one had used a rather high dosage that pertained to fire , and more importantly a big key on the charred body . the other was a using electrical enhancement dosage .. but it was significantly less in use. from what i was able to find. "
He tipped out his charmingly coy grin of approval to Lyante and her theory. " It's quite a Shocking find .. wouldn't you agree ? "
once he finished up with his report and copied the file for her to take , he nodded in agreement to visit a doctor in the slums .which she had been searching the od's list but turned up empty handed.
Sven grew rather curious at lyante's defining snarling look , and ferocity in her eyes, clearly a displeasure for the slums and this doctor no doubt if not mistaken. it was a mere hunch.
----
By the time they had reached the building , the putrid smell from the district , Sven had slightly covered his nose .Soon after his lips curled up into a politely sarcastic smile to her retort about the guy ." Well .. We'll just have to mind our manners then shall we ? "
Sven rolled his clip of 6 bullets into the barrel of his Re:volver and locking its safety with his Genetic code being read on the handle grip finger print sensor. He held close and tapped the side of his glasses to signal her to move forward in a tactful way for the two .
" right , On it . " he quirked in a low profile to his raven haired partner in goggles . He'd taken turning left leaning himself against the wall with shortened breaths to keep quiet before they were to make their move further. He wanted to be discreet about the way they handled this.

Lyante took the lead as she had been here before. Despite what she scanner said, Lyante knew not to expect a completely different result. This was a slum ‘doctor’ after all. She put on her goggles and checked her gun before pulling the curtain aside and stepping in, gun holstered.
Immediately the two commanded the attention of the people there. One of the four immediately pulled out a gun and aimed it at them. Lyante stayed calm, knowing the procedure as she waited for:
“That won’t be necessary,” a man in a white coat said to his assistant, “after all, this is my favourite customer.” His lips curled into a sinister smile while the assistant lowered her gun and ignored the two Secret Agents.
Lyante’s face turned in disgust. “I’ll be dead before I let you put one finger on me,” she bit. She knew that as long as she played along with this insufferable hack, she would get time out of it. Time she used to look up the background of the people in the room. The scanner had picked up on four people and Lyante could see four people in the room. Which – she had to admit – came as a surprise. She knew this man; he had to be doing something shady: there was simply no way he was doing anything legitimate.
“Promise?” the ‘doctor’ said in a slimy tone. “Let’s cut to the chase, what brings your lovely form to my humble abode?” He made a grand gesture all around him. The old, possibly condemned building dirty, lithered with medical paraphernalia.
“I could sum them up, but then we’d be here all week,” Lyante once again bit back, turning to the assistant to scan her. She was nothing new to the system, a reputation as bad as the doctor’s. “The only reason you’re still in business is because of mandatory doctor-patients ratio. If we close you down, the real slum doctors would drown in patients. Plus most criminals are dumb enough to still come here, right where we expect them to be.”
The third person in the room was a man, struggling to breath, lying unconscious on a cod in the bad of the one-room apartment. His records came up, telling Lyante he had a history of abusing lightning magix.
She scanned the fourth person in the room, but didn’t get a reading. Knowing they had found their prey, she put her hands on her hips; a natural pose that put her hand closer to her gun without raising suspicion. “So, what do we have here?” she asked in her most friendly tone. “My, this guy is shivering all over, but you know what will remedy that? This!”
Lyante flashed her most sincere smile and pulled out a Med-stick, her weapon-hand still in her side. “Let’s just pop this right into the NUIP, shall we?” Immediately, the guy started having ever more cold sweats as Lyante urged him to present his port.
Instantly the mood changed as the assistant and doctor both drew their guns making Lyante draw hers too. Knowing Sven had her back, they were stuck in this Mexican stand-off.
“Four signal and three people with a NUIP. Where’s number four, Karnov?”
The man in the white coat smiled, dipping his hand in his coat pocket and held out a blood stained chip. Still smiling, he held out his gun. “Oh, no,” he started laughing, “you got us. Guess we’ll come quietly.” Lyante cocked an eyebrow, maneuvering herself to a better position.
“what’s so funny?” Lyante asked, preparing for the worst, glancing at Sven.
“You see, you forgot about something…” At that point a high-pitched sound started becoming louder underneath the floorboards.
“…or someone.”

By the action of his partner pulling the curtain aside first.. ... well by all means of any measure for being discreet had gone out the metaphorical window . Lyante had her weapon still holstered just as he did with his calm demeanor in their situation bridled with her calmness matched pretty well .
Their center stage appearance garnering all attention on both Sven and Lyante. Of course one of them had a gun drawn and aimed at the two secret police officers . Sven's face contorted with a competently sarcastic look at the man in the white coat. He listened to the irritating chatter that man made and boy was Lyante ever right with her comment earlier about him probably mixed with a cockroaches genes.
Purple hues behind the tint of glass glancing around the setting, assessing more and more as Lyante was taking care of the other man by popping a medstick into him ; The changing pace of everything made it seem as if time was slowing down. " Oh... and here I was ... sincerely hoping to have had a match of negotiations with the lot of you but i'm afraid you've gone and wasted it ... " Sven Chided shaking his head with his gun fully drawn, locked and loaded like the rest of them had with this so called stand off as it were as he caught his partners glance .
That filthy cockroach was playing them to be fools and at the same time, high pitched sounds emitted below them from the floor . Sven's ears twitched in pain from the high decibels as he made an attempt to cover them ,nearly making him bite his tongue as he barked through barred fangs . " y ou son of a bi t c--" The noise was dilapidating to Sven making it hard to concentrate, his piercing purple eyes glaring at the bastard ; his fingers ready at will on the trigger of his gun but still not to fire while keeping himself back to back with Lyante .
His wondering what move would be made next.... he had to think so hard on it and debating whether or not he should risk taking some ice magix just in case.
