"All right, here goes..." Riley mumbled to herself, leaning back against the railing.
"It's about -er- well, I just..." feeling a blush creep up her cheeks, she turned to face the large garden and took a deep breath. It all seemed to easy in her head. Just ask, bribe and go their merry ways. But the truth was, she was afraid. If Ellie told any of this to her father she'd face even worse repercussions than a simple babysitter.
Combing her hand through her hair and tracing it to the base of her skull, Riley steeled herself and continued at a much lower volume: "I don't need a babysitter. I sort of know what my father wrote in your contract and what you must do, but - I mean not to sound demeaning - c-could you perhaps do your job a little less -er- well some nights? Not all just...some? Ugh, I suck at this..."
Again she combed her hand through the black and rainbow locks, pulling one in slight desperation as she tried to elaborate. "I-I'll go crazy if I have to stay locked up here and really I'll make sure no one will know and...just...I'll pay you extra if you want...just please..."
There wasn't any thing else she could say, words never came easily to her in these kinds of situations, not when she was expected to be genuine about her wants. Of course she could have lied, but Riley was sick and tired of all that. She could bribe, but she wasn't going to lie not about this.

Ellie watched, mildly amused, as Riley fumbled with her words. It was oddly cute, actually. Reminded her of a puppy begging for scraps at the dinner table after being smacked on the nose before. But once she'd gotten the words out, it made sense. The princess wanted out of her ivory tower. She remembered how suffocating the nice houses of the high class could feel.
But she wasn't in the business of feeling pity for little princesses. Goodwill didn't keep her belly full or her armory stocked. "So, you want to bribe me to look the other way while you sneak off to...what? Go to bed with some boy that Daddy doesn't like? Party? Howl at the moon?" she let out a huff of a laugh, shaking her head. Riley had something much more valuable than pocket change; information. But that wasn't often given without either trust or force. And here Riley was providing the perfect building blocks for the former. "You don't have to bribe me. You want out, I get that. So if my reports back to your father gloss over a few things..." she let the implication speak for themselves. "I'm supposed to escort you where you want to go, keep you safe and out of trouble. My definitions of that can be very...liberal."

“G-go to bed- What?! NO! I-I am not like…that!” Riley couldn’t help going against the remark or the bright blush that crept up her neck and to her cheeks. Luckily Ellie laughed and she realized it had been a joke. Breathing out softly, she combed a hand through multicoloured locks while trying to calm her nerves.
Her bodyguard didn’t want money which surprised her, but also raised her guard. Despite being easily flustered and perhaps a bit naïve, Riley knew people; they always wanted something, be they from Upper class or Lower class or even the slums. In this case it seemed she had to find out what exactly Ellie wanted. Or better said what I am willing to give for some freedom.
“O-oh –er- alright…but I’d feel awfully bad if I couldn’t give you something in return. I mean, I know better than anyone what would happen if father found out…you’d definitely lose your job…n-not that I’d get caught again or anything!” Holding her hands up and in front of her she quickly added the last part. Ever since her last failed heist, Riley had made some much needed upgrades to her gear; as long as she had the MFB technically no place was unreachable.
“Anyway,” she continued with a sigh. “Thanks, but is there really not something? If not money I could give you –ehh- other stuff…free trips to a resort maybe?”
She snickered at the last part. It had been an attempt at a joke. Ellie definitely didn’t seem like the resort and spa kind of person, but then again neither did she.

"Listen, I accepted this job fully expecting to be bored as shit. No offense, but your dad could make paint drying look fun for how dull he is. Didn't hold much hope for you being better. And you don't seem like a stupid girl wanting to drink, party, and smash yourself with the latest fad to snort up your nose. So if letting you run about a little gets me paid and helps me not be bored? Well..." she grinned and lifted a shoulder in a half shrug. "Just seems a better deal for me."
And getting on the princess's good side could lead to passwords. Or at least a chance to swipe her passkey or get a copy of it. "Besides, you're a smart kid, right? Work with your dad?" she tapped her temple next to her modified eye, winking to turn it off, then again to turn it back on. "Maybe give me a consultation sometime. Battery life is shit." That was a convenient excuse.

Looking at the synthetic eye, Riley nodded. She couldn't believe it went that easy and also didn't. Perhaps it was her own upbringing, but everyone wanted something. However, for now she'd play along. If in the end it was money she could provide and if it turned out to be a consultation, then she'd apologize sincerely for her thinking, but for now Riley only smiled."O-of course! If that's worth more to you than anything else, I'd be happy to...and thanks. I promise no one will know," her voice lowered as she said the last part. Security was temporarily...low, but she knew people would hesitate to tell her father or grandfather if they heard her whisper so suspiciously. Really, luck was on her side, never had Riley thought Ellie would be so lenient. "Oh and you're right, by the way. My dad can be pretty dull...buuuut not as dull as my grandfather, hope you never have to answer to him," she felt a shiver travel down her spine while saying that. Nothing of this would have been possible if her grandfather knew about it and Riley truly hoped he never would.

"You ever try to fight someone half-blind. I have." She swiped a finger over the scar extending from her mouth. There'd been a lot of extenuating circumstances to that night even before her eye had gone dead in its socket, but still. Her mouth quirked at the mention of Riley's grandfather. Her limited research had made it clear that he was someone she did not want to meet. Seemed the sort that might push her to pounding his face in and that would definitely be bad for future business.
She clapped her hands and pushed away from the railing. "Okay then we have a deal. So, Princess, what do you say we get you out of here and get you some fresh air? You can tell me where we're going and buy me lunch on the way. I'm starved." she grinned, hands going to her hips. Might as well get a meal or two out of this whole mess, in case she couldn't sweet talk her out of some secrets.
Hey, don't worry about it. I figured you were busy with life. It happens and I don't mind if things go on pause while you deal with shit. though looking forward to continuing this

Fighting half blind? Riley shuddered felt a shudder crawl up her back at the thought, but it stopped as she realized with the amount of gene-mods she had, it probably would hinder her too much. Still losing part of your sight was a scary thought, so she shook her head and was glad the subject got changed. No wonder she didn't ask for more! ...still though, I would have given her both the money and check-ups...Riley sighed at her own desperation. If she had just flunked the Test she be free from this life, but despite all, that was something she didn't want to put her father through.
When Ellie clapped her hands, Riley nearly jumped a foot in the air, turning to look startled at her which quickly turned into a relived grin at her bodyguards next words. Maybe this wasn't going to be as bad as she thought.
"Alright, deal! But we're walking, the place I have in mind isn't too far from here and I can use some fresh air indeed," she spoke in a teasing tone before turning her on her heels and making her way back to the long hall, way too eager to get out.

Ellie snorted at the way the younger girl jumped, shaking her head. Sweet scorched Earth. This girl made her even happier that she'd escaped the high class sheltered life. Ellie was pretty sure she could break her over her knee and not even break a sweat. Not that she would, of course. That'd be terrible for business and thus her wallet. This job was supposed to pay enough to keep her out of thefts for at least a few weeks.
They managed to get out of the home without much fuss and Ellie sent a quick message to Riley's father to let him know that she was escorting the princess off property, as per her contract requirements. She made sure to just put that they were getting some air and food. Hopefully they'd get the food before they went to wherever Princess wanted to go; she hadn't been lying when she'd said she was starved.

The place Riley had in mind was small, so small in fact many people wondered how it stayed in business within the Upper class. It barely had enough space to seat six people inside, yet an impressive queue reached all the way to the terrace much to the annoyance of those seated outside. Riley grinned at the sight. She too had no idea how the small café kept running, or maybe she did. The food was really good and surprisingly cheap, plus they stayed open for most of the day and delivered.
Turning to Ellie with the grin still on her face, she said: "This is the place...it might not look like much, but it's got really nice sandwiches...among other things of course. A-anyway, since it's a little more packed than I expected...uh...how about we just order something and find somewhere quiet to eat? There were a few benches around here..."
Riley sighed, hating how she kept faltering at the end of her sentences. Maybe after spending some time away from everything she'd get an ounce of confidence back. At least the line moved on quickly.
