"Dammit," said Caith, drooping her head, the sun warming the back of her neck as her hair draped her left shoulder.
"Something wrong, Caith?" A concerned voice called to her from half a yard away, and Caith glanced over to see her neighbor Julie Springs. Julie stood near her picket fence, wearing a sun hat and a couple specks of dirt on her cheeks from her garden. "Did you forget your keys?"
"No, Julie, nothing like that." Caith looked back to her front door, feeling a headache coming on. "My cleaning robot just broke."
"Really? How can you tell?"
"Because it's ramming itself against my door, and it's leaking water and carpet cleaner. It must have gotten overwhelmed by the dirt in my foyer." She looked down at the bubbly liquid that seeped out from under her door and down her ramp. It wasn't too surprising that the robot had broken down. Caith's foyer really was filthy. There were lines of dirt all over the hardwood floor and the carpets in the living and dining rooms. A person could take off his or her shoes when entering a house, but Caith couldn't very well take off her wheels, and a day of rolling around the city streets did little to keep her house clean.
"Do you need help cleaning?" asked Julie, her sweet voice having become grating over the last four years of living here. "I know a good cleaning service. Oh, and have you thought about that grocery service I told you about? The one that does all of your shopping for you. You never have to leave your house. I think you'd really like—"
"No thank you, Julie," called Caith as she rolled into her house, picking up her tiny round robot as she tried to quickly escape Julie's pestering. She shut her door behind her and groaned, complaining, "Honestly, does she think I'm completely incompetent? I can clean my own damn house." This stupid little robot wasn't even hers. Her parents had bought it for her—two more people who seemed to think she couldn't get dressed in the morning without a servant or two hours of work. She only ran the thing so her parents wouldn't complain when they came to visit.
But as Caith calmed down and looked around her house, she saw all of the dirt and crisscrossing tracks that made her carpets look like a roller rink. With a grimace and a twitch of her cheek, Caith muttered, "…This is gonna suck."

Momo had been waiting in anticipation all day. She had put up posters advertising her cleaning service everywhere she could think of, grocery stores, restaurants, anywhere she could think of. She is not sure if someone in another class would welcome someone of the Lower Class coming into their home, but she had to try this was her dream and nothing could stop her now.
However for now all she could do is wait, and wait, and wait. Finally she received a call. Not what she was expecting and honestly she is not even sure if she really should agree to clean the house of someone other than the person that hired her, but they agreed to pay the full hourly price and she needed to get started somewhere. Momo took down the address and the relative information; such as address and name, everything else she could either determine for herself or wasn't her business.
She gathers her supplies in her van and heads out to the address given to her. As she approaches the house she tries to calm herself down and put on as big of a smile she can muster. Momo pulls out her clipboard with all the clients information ready to take any notes she needs to about size and relitive ease of cleaning so she can bill the payee the correct amount. With a solid knock she signals her arrival. When the door opens she says, "Hello I'm Momo Gajo and I am looking for a Caith Alwood? I was hired by a Julie to clean for you."

Caith had spent the past hour out at the store, buying cleaning supplies that she hadn’t owned in four years. The most she had ever needed to buy was carpet cleaner and new filters for the robot. Now, she needed everything, and she came home with bags of supplies, all of which she was excited to have… but not at all thrilled to use. As she stared at her new broom, mop, bucket, carpet cleaning brush, cans of wipes, and bottles of window cleaner, she groaned, throwing her head down in her lap and whining, “Maybe I should get a little tub by the door to wipe off my wheels. Fuck, why can’t I just pour soap and water over my wheels and do drive-by cleaning. Why is that not a plausible idea? The world is cruel.”
Then, after much procrastination and a quick dinner, Caith heard a knock at her door. She rolled out of her dining room and over to the foyer as she called out, “Coming!” That couldn’t have been her parents. They only came on the weekends. It better not be Julie or Caith would have a hard time not kicking her over her own fence. That’s right. Caith would develop working legs just to kick Julie off her yard. It’d be a god damn miracle drug.
But when she opened the door, she found a young white woman with long brown hair. This was… unexpected. Caith’s face began with interest and curiosity, wondering who this woman was and what she wanted. But with every word Momo Gajo spoke, Caith’s face sank, and ultimately she closed her eyes and fought back the urge to slam the door in this poor woman’s face.
Thankfully, she held it together and said as politely as she possibly could, “I’m really sorry, but I don’t need any help. But hey, come back in an hour and I’ll tell Julie you did a fantastic job. You get paid for absolutely nothing. Win-win.” Caith hoped that would work, though it would be hard to notice Momo’s response as Caith lost herself in her anger for Julie’s nosiness.

With every word Caith spoke Momo's heart sank a little more. No this is her first job, she cannot let it end before it began! Not only was she cleaning a house belonging to someone of the Middle class, but that Julie woman didn't even argue with her billing system or try and negotiate for a cheaper price! This could be Momo's big break! Nope she could not let this end in disaster, if Caith didn't want Momo to do the cleaning they would just have to take it up with Julie herself. For right now Momo had a job and it would be done to the best of her abilities.
"I am sorry you feel that my work is not needed Miss. Alwood, but I have be contracted to do a job and it will be done.If it is that this is a bad time I can have your weekly cleaning done on a different day. If it is privacy that you are desiring, I can assure you I will be very discrete. If it is that you are worried that I will judge you for anything I find; rest assured I am am not here to judge, just clean. And I will clean this house! If you are unhappy with this arrangement might I suggest you take that up with Julie Springs, but for right now I will be assessing your house for what work I will be doing while you clear this up with her!" Momo tried to be as firm as she could in her delivery. She really didn't think Miss. Alwood could find fault in her reasoning. Heck even if she were to get Ms. Springs to end their contract one day of work was better than none.

Someone complaining about a free payday? Caith hadn't seen that before.
She couldn't fault Momo for the pride she seemed to take in her work. If anything, it was pleasant to see. But just as Caith started to soften up, she heard something that made her face twitch. "… Weekly?" She didn't even hear the rest of Momo's pitch and assurances. She completely lost herself in a white light as she screamed in her head. I'll fucking kill that woman!
How Caith's face didn't burst red with anger, she had no idea. Practice, perhaps. Whatever the case, she managed to calm down with a sigh, giving in. "Alright, you win. Come on in." She wheeled backwards and opened the door wider before rolling into the living room. Momo could see just how bad the tracks of dirt were around the house. The house wasn't a gigantic mess or anything, but it had definitely seen better days. Caith's recent trips to the Slums for her investigation of the Potter drug ring hadn't helped much with that.
"So…" she began, unsure of what to say at first. "Down the hall, in my study, there's a desk with a whole bunch of papers on it. Please don't touch that. Other than that… I guess do what you normally do? I'll be around if you need me."

Ah this is more like it. That went better than she thought it would! No long and drawn out fight, no back and forth that eventually ended in fighting, no door in the face. Just a respectful acceptance that the person your mad at is not the person you should be fighting with. Momo quite frankly did not care if Ms. Springs received an earful from Ms. Alwood, but quite frankly she threw her under the bus and now Momo had not problem doing the same for her.
She could now do her job and aside from not touching the papers on the office desk it doesn't seem like it will be that complicated a job to do. Momo was aware that her policy of being discrete and non-judgmental wouldn't be easy. However the less she honestly knew about a person and their comings and goings, the less she would feel tempted to do one of those things and the less she could inadvertently pass on.
Now however is not the time to be reflective, it was now the time for her checklist. every room would be asses for what the cleaning need would be and then every time she came in she would go through her checklist and clean it all and the client would only be billed for the work she did. As Ms. Alwood stepped aside she could see the root of the cleanliness problem. "Floors will obviously be the focus in every room as it is a high interactive area for the household dirt," Momo murmured to Sarah as she walked in. "Now Ms. Alwood if you could give me a quick tour of your house I can create my checklist and I will never have to bother you about this again. At the end of the tour I will have you review my checklist to make sure everything is in order. If at a later date you do not feel the need for me to clean a specific room or area just leave a signed note and I will not clean that area that week."

Momo’s professionalism was pleasant to see, and something that Caith hadn’t expected from someone who she assumed came from the Lower Class (not that good work ethics were unheard of down there). The way Momo scheduled things out made things less awkward, and Caith soon said, “Yeah, sure. Follow me.”
Caith started by gesturing to the living room she currently sat in. It was a wide room with white carpeting that had many, many lines of dirt from her wheelchair. There were two couches in the room, along with a large television, an entertainment system, a few chairs, and a coffee table. There were two entrances into the living room: one from the foyer; and the other from the dining room, which Caith soon rolled into. The dining room had a family-sized table despite the fact that Caith lived alone, and there was a chandelier that hadn’t been dusted in four years. The kitchen and the dining room were connected without any walls, only a breakfast nook and a clear gap between carpet and tile floors separating the two.
Along the wall of kitchen and dining room was a sliding glass door leading out to Caith’s sunroom, or rather her art room. The room was curved and lined with windows to show off Caith’s yard, and any wall of the sunroom that wasn’t made of glass had finished and unfinished paintings leaning up against them. An easel sat in the middle of the room, and Caith had every intention of being out there while Momo cleaned.
Back inside, Caith rolled down the long hallway and showed Momo every room they passed. The room on the left was the bathroom—a straightforward room with a large, low shower and plenty of space. The room on the right was her study, inside which were numerous bookshelves all stuffed with books, journals, magazines, newspapers, and folders. There were a few filing cabinets as well, as well as the desk that Momo was not allowed to touch. And the room at the very end of the hall was, of course, Caith’s master bedroom. There wasn’t anything remarkable in the room except for the queen-sized bed, a few large paintings along the walls she had bought from painters far more talented than herself, and her walk-in (or rather roll-in) closet.
“And that’s it,” she said to Momo. “D’you need anything else? There’s no basement or anything, so this really is it.”

Momo had been listening intently and writing on her clipboard as she was led room to room. After the tour was finished Momo turned to Ms. Alwood and stated briskly, "Well it does seem quite simple and straight forward. Each room will require a deep cleaning of the floor on top of the rooms individual needs. The foyer needs a general wipe down to keep the walls and door clean. The living room seems to need simple dusting and a wiping down of the furniture taking special care with the television and entertainment system. The dining room as well just needs to be dusted, however I would recommend allowing me to move the table so I could actually wash the chandelier this initial visit and I will just dust it in subsequent visits. I will use a disinfectant on all the cooking surfaces and on the counters in the kitchen and breakfast nook areas. The doors to your art room will be cleaned and all the windows will additionally be cleaned in full this initial visit and be touched up as needed in future visits. I will not touch the art itself nor will I disturb your painting area beyond some general dusting and wiping down where needed. The hallway does not seem to need anything beyond the floor. The bathroom will be completely wiped down, the mirrors done and the counter disinfected. In your study I will simply wash the carpet and dust the filing cabinets and book cases. As for your bedroom the paintings will be dusted as well as the contents of your closet.
"I believe that should cover everything of interest Ms. Alwood." Momo hands over her clipboard, "If you could just review this and sign at the bottom I can get started on the cleaning."

Caith was starting to wonder if she was signing away her house at this point. She wasn't even sure if other cleaning services were this detailed in their planning—of course, why would she ever know that? Regardless, the professionalism gave her the feeling that she could trust Momo to do a good job.
After reviewing the plan, she signed her name and handed the clipboard back to Momo. Now everything was in this woman's hands.
"Okay, so…" Caith raised her hands and dropped them down onto her lap, unsure of what else to say. "Good luck, I guess? If you need me, I'll be out in the sunroom. Feel free to tell me to move if you need me to. And uh… yeah." With a shrug of her shoulders, Caith turned around and headed out to her sunroom, where she set up a canvas on her easel and began to paint.

Momo is quite proud of herself for waiting until Ms. Alwood left the room before starting her happy dance. Sarah who had been resting on her shoulder the entire time joined in. However when Sarah started singing Momo brought an end to our dancing. "Alright Sarah dance time is over. Its cleaning time!" Momo practically skipped to the van. "Alrighty Sarah, we'll need our deep cleaning vacuum, dust rags, bucket, sponges, ladder, and cleaners. That should be all right? Right. Lets get going. Think we should start at the back and move forward? Yeah that sounds good to me as well."
Momo headed to the bedroom doing a deep clean on the carpet and then dusted. The bathroom was a little more complicated, but still easily doable. Not wanting to bother Ms. Alwood she decided to hit the kitchen first before bothering her. After wiping down the one side of the glass doors she couldn't avoid it any longer and knocked on the glass. "I'm sorry to bother you Ma'am, but I would like to wash the windows now. It will involve my bringing in a ladder, but beyond that I should not bother you in any way."
