Hello everyone, and welcome to our first IC Event
Persephone's Reign!
IC, this is a celebration that happens every year on the final week of October in the city of Novus, and is meant as a time filled with merriment. For one week, the personas you carry from day to day can be cast off, covered with elaborate masks and costumes. The celebration is meant to celebrate the passing of seasons and Novus’ progression towards a new and better future as the years continue onwards. It is a time for all citizens to rejoice in the progress Novus has made and the comfort that the city provides for them.
Outfits from all across the culture spectrum can be seen worn by the patrons of Persephone's Reign. During this week of celebration, citizens from every class are allowed to join the celebration in the Middle Class, where the city and individual establishments provide all manners of entertainment and luxuries. As long as you’re in costume, it’s considered a social taboo to ask anyone who they are, so all types are allowed to come in and enjoy the festivities.
During this time, the lights are dimmed to 'night', and the entire city is plunged into a week of darkness with the moon overhead starting out as a new moon on the first night. Progressively throughout the week, the moon will grow until a beautiful harvest moon casts the entire city in a soft glow of orange. Fog floods throughout the streets, winds constantly blowing and shifting to twist and turn around the city. Of course, the moon isn't the only source of light. Many people have taken to hanging lanterns around the different parts of the city, and some even have jack-o-lanterns lining different entranceways. Scattered foliage has been replaced with bioluminescent plants to light the city up in a way only seen during this time of year, giving everything an ethereal glow.
ACTIVITIES ────────────
Activities range from calm and elegant, to fast paced and fun. If you can think it, no doubt someone has it ready: Carnivals, Contests, Human Sacrifice*, Performances, Banquets, and more! The Middle Class area setup is very similar to a street festival, with lights lining every street and vendors hawking their wares from tents at every corner.

*Human sacrifice is greatly frowned upon please do not sacrifice actual humans to celebrate Persephone's Reign.
Here are just a few examples of what people are able to take part in, but don't feel like you're limited to just these!
At first sight, the first thing that someone would note while looking at this place is the dimming glow of candlelight luring passersby closer. When curiosity peaks you to move in you will see that the candlelights are actually hovering orbs of light, guiding those who enter in a world of community beauty, The Novus Olympian Park, one of the officially sponsored parks of the festival. Everything that one would expect from a theme park is here; rides, shows, and food. Food with pumpkin and spice themes are found mainly near the entrance of the park, but there is always something to be found the farther in you go. Once you satisfy yourself here the pathway separates: The Realm of Games to the left and the Haven of Merriment to the right. The Haven is the center of all entertainment whether it be acrobatic stunts, mystics telling fortunes, or a musical telling of the origins of the holiday. The Realm of Games is the area where the attractions live. Roller coasters, thrilling drops, and virtual reality stations where you can play games with others. While some are tame for those who scare easy, this is the area where the daring try to prove their mantle. The workers of the park are all dressed in bright colors to contrast the dim lighting with masks that cover their entire face, with the workers in Haven having more dramatic ranges in faces and those who work in Realm tending to have faces of excitement or terror.
Lions, tigers, and bears - Oh my! Have you ever wanted to see what a lion might look like at night, that piercing gaze cutting through the darkness? Have you ever heard a tiger wandering through the tall grass, waiting to pounce on unsuspecting prey? The Novus National Zoo has everything that might give you the thrill of wilds past. Come and join us in this wild paradise where anything might be watching from the shadows. All of the usual exhibits are open for everyone to enjoy, as well as multiple 'wild side' walking paths. Travel down these as part of our special scavenger hunt and get an up close and personal look at the different species preserved in Novus. See just how deep into the jungle you can go and how many animals you can spot before turning tail! Don't worry about safety, the animals on these paths aren't actually roaming free. We've set up a special transparent wall that keeps everyone inside from actually getting harmed. Each worker is also dressed to match an animal in their designated area. Booths offer different animal costumes and face painting for patrons to also enjoy while on their 'hunts', and a wide variety of foods ( from tropical fruit to rare meats ) are offered to really take a bite out of the experience. So come down to the zoo for a walk on the wild side !
Parties are a common staple of the holiday. These range from beautiful gothic romance style balls, to underground raves, to fun and casual get togethers with friends. There is a place for everyone to find their way of celebrating, even if it just means enjoying a pumpkin spice latte inside your favorite quiet cafe.
The officially sponsored party of the event is held in the center of the Luxury District, in an elaborate mansion constructed just for the festival. It’s unveiled at the stroke of midnight when the celebration begins, and collapses in upon itself when the last bell rings at the end of the week. Although fleeting in its nature, no expense has been spared in making sure it is lavish and beautiful in every regard. Crystal chandeliers hang from every ceiling, tables upon tables of exquisite food line every room, and nothing but the finest of music wafts through the air. Quiet gardens populated with vivid blooms extend from the back of the mansion as well for those who wish for a more personal experience. For those wishing for a taste of Upper Class living at its finest, the fleeting beauty of the officially sponsored mansion is the place to find it.
HEADS OF CERBERUS ────────────
Additionally, at the end of the festival each year three ‘Heads of Cerberus’ are chosen to protect ‘Persephone’s Reign’ until the next year’s festival. This will be done through a drawing- anyone who makes an in character post in the event section will be automatically entered! The winners receive a crown of violets, an elaborate silver weapon (one spear, one bow and one sword will be given away ), and a heavy black velvet cape, which they keep for the next year. Along with the more traditional prizes, each character receives a small monetary prize and a week long trip for themselves and one other person to the Biodomes in the Upper Class. Remember, For a chance at your character being crowned one of the three 'Heads of Cerberus’', all you need to do is partake in a thread for the event and your character will be entered in a random drawing. One entry per character is allowed, and the winners will hold the special title until next year’s occurrence of this event. However, if you don’t wish to be a part of this, please pm an admin and we’ll remove your name from the running.
