Another year of Persephone’s Reign, and Jek could hardly contain his excitement. Really, it had always been his favorite holiday since he was a child, but ever since he found out he could actually be one of the guides, it only made his life even better. And of course he had to get Lucente to join as well. And she had! She looked so so cute in her outfit, even if the mask covered her lovely face. Not even to mention the way her legs looked in the clothing. Oh, it was just the best year he could have asked for.
Ah, but right right. He needed to calm down and prepare for his group. A wide smile plastered itself onto his face while he waved the ‘Haunted Tours’ flag around a few times, humming to himself in excitement. The best part of his job had to be location, hands down.
There was just something about waiting near a wrought iron lamppost, the golden light reflecting off swirling fog and concealing the paved path his group would be walking down. If someone were to look hard enough they could make out the steps that descended deeper into parts unknown. Tall swaying grass tickled against his exposed arms, and the thick underbrush of low hanging mangrove trees cast long shadows that could make anyone without a strong constitution paranoid.
No doubt his group would have begun to move towards his location, though he continued to wave his flag until all five of them had gathered. And what a spread he had! A lovely bird woman, a cutie with a mole under his eye, two precious eared fellows, and a giant of a man. The smile never faltered from his expression as he pulled out a box with ear pieces, presenting them to his group and preparing for his welcoming speech.
“Hello there, everyone! My name is Jek, and I’ll be your guide for the night. I hope the location wasn’t too hard to find. People sometimes get so turned around when navigating between the savanna and wetlands areas.” He give a small sigh and placed a hand on his cheek before once again perking up. “But right! Back to the tour. If you’d all be so kind as to take one of these ear pieces before we begin I would very much appreciate it. I’ll explain their uses as we move down the steps to our left once everyone is ready.”
It was just too exciting, he couldn’t help the occasional flap of his wings.
“And if anyone would like to have a costume to match the tour, there’s actually a shop right around the corner. You’re all adorable to begin with, but I’ll admit you can’t go wrong with bunny ears or a fluffy tail. Though a few of you are already well equipped with that.” This thread is for Levenin, Athena, Flynn, Eco, and Uriel ONLY. Each round will begin with the guide making a post, and there will be 48 hours between each guide post. If you have any questions, please send a PM to Kendra. DEADLINE: Wednesday, October 21 | 11:45PM [ EST ]

"HAPPY PR!!!"
Athena stood on a small ledge as she leaned forward to give the greeting to the growing crowd. Most of the gathering people ignored her, but she didn't care. It was her favorite holiday and she was gonna celebrate it with cheers and yelling. As she watched the crowd shifting and moving going to partake in the city's activities, a small song came to mind of her old movie archives. People coming together in enchanted by the sights and smells of the celebration, for one of the few moments no one paid mind to the class separation or if they did, no one paid mind to it. The next few days of celebrating this time was just for that, celebrating.
As Athena continued her crowd watching she was reminded of the time. She remembered that earlier she signed up for a tour of the zoo that was doing a special for Persephone's Reign. She was a bit disappointed her mentor decided to go with the mansion tour, but this would be a wonderful opportunity to make new friends. "It looks like its about time to go. I hope there will be snacks!"
Athena hopped off her perch and made her way to the meeting area, it appeared she was the first to arrive. As she was looking around she noticed the designs of the area. From the information of the tour, this zoo had special transparent walls so you could see the animals clearly and even the workers had costumes to blend in! "Wow this place looks fun~" Athena stared on with amazement.
Eventually Athena took her eyes off the beauty to make her way to the meeting where the rest of the group were gathering. A small looking boy was waving a flag, he was probably the guide and along with him was a huge man with blonde hair, a feminine looking boy with shifty eyes, and two other boys with canine mods it seems. So in short, a boys club...COOL! Athena thought to herself as she skipped over to the group. As she joined, the one waving the flag put it away and took out some ear pieces and handed them out to each of them.
As she Athena fiddled with the ear piece, wondering how to set it up with her winged ears, the wings gave a small twitch when she heard something about costumes. "COSTUMES?!" She perked up as she ran in the direction of the gift shop, she was going to go with a flaming phoenix look.

Sometimes he wondered why he was allowed to do anything without supervision. Levenin usually came to the Persephone’s Reign festival with someone. In the past, his family had gone with, but since it’d been a few years since any contact with them, that was no longer an option. So of course that meant it had to be Mira, who he’d chased through every last gift shop and stall just the other day. However, this time would be different. Not even Ellie knew he was here and she was his consultant for damn near everything. It was good to do things alone every now and then. An exercise in independence was way overdue... At least that was his reasoning.
Actually walking through the zoo in the fog and dim light was almost more than Lev could handle already, and the tour hadn't even started. Darkness, he was used to. Creepy atmospheric Victorian props in between themed areas of the park was not. Out of a sense of paranoia, he kept his eye modification active. A stupid move, considering he was known now around the Middle Class district, albeit by a different name. Everyone knew Nineveh’s most striking characteristic was the glowing irises. However, without the added vision, Levenin might’ve screamed at every suspicious movement in the trees. Who knew what sick minds were waiting to jump him at a moment’s notice.
As he saw a waving flag in the distance, the glow dissipated when he approached an excitable man. The second to arrive, it seemed, so not running late. A small well of courage bubbled up somewhere deep within. Yeah, Lev could do this. He loved the spooky, creepy, and grim, didn’t he? Hell, the police were still pulling out their hair trying to track down just who he was. Nineveh was incredibly unrelated to anything right now, but the point still stood. Competence was in reach. Was some little harvest celebration really going to be the thing to dissuade him? That’s all it was— a fun, silly event to unwind and forget troubles with. Also, it was the zoo. The zoo. Maybe that’d been his real motivation for showing up all along. The reward for bravery tonight would be an extended look at the insect exhibit afterwards.
Levenin adjusted his hat, the charm on the side jingling as he tugged it back. Better to not have that hanging in his face while he made a first impression. ”N-Nice to meet you,” he weakly mumbled before being overshadowed by his guide’s introduction and the exclamations of the sole woman in their group.
He meekly took an earpiece before shoving it in. A pair of animal ears sounded nice. Lev giggled as he thought of what Xi’an would do to him if he showed up at Canaan with the fluffiest pair of cat ears he could find. However, remembering the vast emptiness of his bank account kept it as a cute mental scenario. Oh well, that was the reason he’d brought his own costume in the first place. Thank God for free heirlooms from his mother.

Persephone’s Reign was definitely an interesting one for Uriel. It was always one of his favorite holidays ever since he was a child. Costumes, sweets, and scary fun? What wasn’t there to like? The difficulty came more from his family, particularly his grandfather. Being born into one of the few religious households in Novus meant that holidays such as this wasn’t always treated with lighthearted air that it was meant to. Fortunately his parents didn’t mind as much, and so as a boy he was able to enjoy it just as much as his friends. One year, he even manage to gain some approval from his grandfather when he decided to wear a set of crusader armor that he made himself out of cardboard and aluminum foil. Of course by the era of Novus, such knights were considered ancient, so after he left to go celebrate with his friends, he put on a skull mask that his granddad might not have appreciated as much as the rest of the costume.
Nowadays, his capabilities and resources were a fair bit more expansive then they were back in his youth, and being a SP officer, a modern day knight, didn’t dull the enjoyment of one of his favorite PR costumes. This time around however it was much more practical as well as realistic, his costume made of a light aluminum chainmail shirt, a white linen surcoat overtop emblazoned with the red Templar cross, his usual trousers and boots from work, and a replica claymore in its scabbard (though the “blade” was barely even beveled let alone sharpened).
He made his way down to the Novus zoo, a place he hadn’t been to in years, for the haunted tour that he had signed up for. It wasn’t often that he considered doing things such as this, but he felt like splurging and having a little more fun this year. Who knew what could be in store in the coming night with so much potential brought together.
Soon enough he made his way down the path and arrived at the meeting spot for the group, their brightly colored guide being impossible to miss even without the flag that he was waving around. He noted the other four that he would be sharing the tour with and found them to be equally interesting. A young woman with red hair an some impressive feathered genetic mods, two canid modded guys who Uriel though could probably pass for brothers, and a young man with slightly glowing eyes who seemed a bit anxious.
The tour guide was quick to make his introduction and started handing out earpieces, which Uriel placed on his ear as he watched the red-head perk up and practically leap at the nearby gift shop at the mention of costumes.
“I wonder if she scares easily with all of that energy.”
He doubted that she was the most easily scared of their group though.

You know...he wasn't entirely sure just why he had signed up for this. Now don't get him wrong, he definitely wasn't trying to be a mood killer here. Eco might not have been as enthusiastic as a lot of people around him about Persephone's Reign, but he definitely didn't hate the holiday either. And how could he? There was a lot good about it, and well...he remembered being a great deal more enthusiastic about this time of the year when he was younger and his mother was still alive.
Ah... He really shouldn't be thinking about that right now.
Shaking his head lightly, the wolf continued to make his way to the Novus zoo. He had signed himself up for a haunted tour of sorts, but if you asked him why he wouldn't have been able to answer you. He honestly didn't know. He didn't think it was his kind of thing to begin with? He just...had. Maybe it had seemed interesting to him at the time? Maybe he thought of it as a fun little break? Maybe... He couldn't really remember how he'd been feeling.
It hadn't taken him very long to reach the zoo, and even less to locate his group. His mods sure did come in handy when it came to seeing in the dark. Then again, even without them he doubted he would've been able to miss his group. Their guide sure was...colourful, wasn't he? And energetic. Ah... The wolf did a quick look-over of the group; a girl, a glowing eyed guy, a really tall guy and... He narrowed his eyes a little before turning his attention to the rather...anxious man. No one really seemed to actually say anything to him, but... He shot the man a small smile and was going to greet him, but then their guide started talking and well... It wouldn't do to not listen to their guide now, would it?
He took the offered earpiece, paused for a second before starting to put it in. Not exactly an easy task, his wolf ears considered, but he managed. Somehow. He wasn't entirely sure what to do with the information about the whole costumes thing; he hadn't really dressed for the occasion and, well... He didn't really think he needed to? That was probably him being boring, but it wasn't like he knew what to wear either.
...should he buy something though? It wasn't like he was broke or anything, just... Hmm, he didn't have much time to think about this either. Hmm... "What could a wolf possibly dress as?" He muttered softly to himself as he played with his earpiece.

Flynn loved Persephone's Reign. And when he said he loved it, he meant he loved it. Like, loved it to the point of bouncing around the house days before it happened, annoying anyone and everything in his general vicinity with his enthusiasm. Or maybe that was just his general attitude. Either way, he would be bothering his family for weeks until they finally promised him to take him out that day.
Years later, Flynn wasn't quite as energetic about it anymore but he was still fairly excited for it. Sure, his parents were a bit too old to actually go with him now, not being able to keep up with his energy, but even by himself he was completely psyched to be there. With all the festivity and good spirit in the air, there was no way it could be boring.
Running through the streets though, he didn't get much of the fun and cheer going on around him, instead paying attention to the fact how very late he was. He had signed up for a little tour through the zoo and left early to be there on time. Unfortunately he got on lost on the way, the area not familiar enough to him to actually find his way without external help. He kind of regretted not taking Luka with him but he doubted it was safe for the robot bird to be out tonight. It wasn't like he was afraid someone would break him but he would rather not something happened to his one friend.
Somehow he managed to get there in the nick of time though, the other members of the group just arriving too. Taking a moment to catch his breath, he grabbed one of the ear pieces and listening to the guide the best he could. Somehow plugging it in, Flynn tilted his head to the side a little when the guide mentioned costumes. He hadn't put on a costume himself since he thought he was fluffy enough without one but didn't he say a few? Who else was--
Then he heard someone speak. Someone certain. Someone he met recently.
"A maid costume!" he offered in response to the wolf almost instantly, his head spinning around to grin at him. It was that pretty boy from the coffee shop! How lucky he was to meet him again so soon!

"We'll be here waiting, so hurry back!" He called after the winged woman as she rushed off. It was always so good to see people enthusiastic! A laugh left him at the large man's comment. Oh, he did hope she scared easily. It would make things all the more fun.
"I think a maid costume would be a wonderful pick!" Jek quickly chimed in, the grin on his face never falling. Oh, he did have such a weakness for maids. B-but Lucente didn't need to know about that. Or his love of nurses. He'd never hear the end of it - but maybe he could get her to... Right, right !!! Tour Guide Job !
"Costumes aside, tonight we'll be descending into the depths of a temple hidden deep within a jungle. Traps litter the path, and who knows what might be waiting for you in the shadows? I've heard there are also quite a few tigers down there, and pitfalls that has who knows what at the bottom. So be sure to watch your step, you never know what might be lurking below..." Jek lowered his head while he spoke, letting the light above him cast a long shadow across his face. Over dramatic? Oh, entirely. But that was half the fun of their little game.
"Now, to explain your ear pieces. We're actually connected to another group that's on the mansion tour, and they'll be helping us out on our tour. It might not make much sense right now, but after the first obstacle it'll make more sense, I promise. All you've got to do is check your NUIP for a list of names to see who all is available over there. Though the adorable guide is my partner, sorry about that. I've called dibs." He gave a grin and winked before laughing and continuing the explanation. "For now, just send a greeting to someone to get used to the system! But you only have one sentence, so make it count. You'll be receiving a message as well once the first challenge is solved. Everything is private, so it's up to you how much you share. Though, working together makes things much easier, wouldn't you agree? So try it out now, if you like. I'll be sending my own off."
The flag in his hand went high as he matched towards the darkened moss-covered stone stairs that led into the depths below, the quiet sound of trickling water obvious once they moved past the lip of the entrance. Jek stopped for a moment, turning to look at the people that followed after him, the sweet smile on his face while he pointed down into the bowels below.
"Are you prepared?" It only took a moment for the light to be swallowed after he spoke, a loud slam of a door behind them to seal off the only way to go back. A screech echoed across the walkway, the sound growing faint as moments passed until the silence once more returned. The only sound that could be heard in the darkness would have been their own breathing, the trickling water, and then a sudden 'tap tap' against the wall to the left.
A torch flared to life, casting the party in an orange glow while more torches began to burn one after another down the stone stair pathway. It was hard to tell just how deep the stairs went, though one thing would be obvious enough. At a curve of what looked like the bottom of the stairs, a sudden blackness swallowed up all the light that tried to permeate the shadows.
Jek pointed his flag towards the pit, then to the rickety bridge that creaked over top it. Rope hung from the ceiling, and some soft of otherworldly weeping seemed to be coming from the darkness below. On the sides of the wall were occasional bits of rock that jutted out. The distance between them was great, but with enough skill someone might be able to make it across. Something scrapped against the stone walls of the pit as they moved closer, the sound transforming to the occasional pounding on the sides as if something wanted to escape. The wailing grew louder, a throaty growl accompanying the sound.
"It seems the path ahead is blocked." Though he knew what was going on, Jek couldn't deny he loved this part. "No way around, and going down below... Well, I wouldn't recommend it." He leaned over the edge just as an ear-piercing scream ripped around the pathway, the sound loud enough to even make him flinch. He turned and twirled his flag, a hand settling onto his hip. "How will you make it over, my brave adventures? Will you take a chance with the bridge, possibly falling to the depths. Or will you take the high road and swing from the ropes? Maybe take your chance on the side wall? You've got to work together and use your environment to the best you can, who know when something might pop out." Whoops i might have gotten a bit into this !!
Alright, so I'd like to officially welcome all of you to the Haunted Tour of the Novus Zoo!! Let's have fun /o/ !!
For this round, you are presented with a large pit that is easily 30ft deep with no lights whatsoever in the depths. A rickety bridge of rope and rotting wood spans the pit, though too much weight certainly makes it look like it will snap the moment you step onto it. If someone were to choose to cross the bridge, black hands of shadow would come from the pit ( along with ungodly screeching ) to try and snatch people off the bridge and drag them into the pit. The ropes overhead can handle more weight, but it's much more difficult to move across - and if you stay on them too long spiders will begin to descend onto the person holding the rope. The rocks on the side are the safest, but certainly not the easiest to navigate. Also, even if you fall into the pit - don't worry !! There's actually a hidden door in there that has a ladder leading to the other side so you aren't stranded forever. There is no set solution to this particular challenge, the only condition is that you must all reach the goal before I make my next post. Bonus points if you help others out !!
Now, to explain the ear pieces and cross-thread information in a bit more depth to make it easier ooc. During each post, you are allowed to send once sentence to a member of the opposite thread, and after this round you will receive one sentence each round to. Who you can send to is first come first serve. Here's an example that will hopefully help !!
Say Flynn posts first, he has the choice to send a message to Kalax, Gaia, Dante, Ellie, or Taylor this round. He chooses Gaia. If Eco posts second, he can only send to Kalax, Dante, Taylor or Ellie. He chooses Dante. And whoever posts after can only send to Kalax, Ellie, or Dante. Etc etc. Next round, Flynn can't message Gaia. He chooses Taylor. Round after that he can't message Gaia or Taylor. So your choices narrow down until you have messaged everyone, at which point we'll reset. If you're at all confused about this, please pm me and I will try to clarify more. Please format your messages in the way that Jek did above to Lucente. Note that your teammates can hear what you say to the other team, but will not know what you receive from the other team. DEADLINE: Saturday, October 24th | 1:00 AM [ PST ]

Athena walked into the costume shop and looked around with glee in her eyes. What should she be, a flaming phoenix? A warrior goddess? A virgin sacrifice? She needed to choose quickly before meeting back with the group but the decision was too much to bear. "Ahhhh I love this holiday...I wonder if there will be candy and booze later~" She smirked as she finally made her choice, checked it out and changed before meeting back up with the boys.
"Alright I'm ready to get this ish started!" Athena pumped her fist up as she approached her group with glistening golden Greek inspired armor and her winged accessories decorated with flames (she decided a combo of the two options). "Still don't really know how to put this ear piece but meh, I'll make it work." Athena shrugged as she fiddled with the piece before it could fit comfortably in her feathers. As she finished, Jek spoke about the ear pieces and its importance. OH that means I can speak with Mother Gaia! Athena thought to herself as she sent her message to that exact person. With that out of the way, Athena went back to paying attention to the guide as he held the flag up high and they started their walk. For a while they were in a bit of a silence, enjoying the natural sounds of the area they were in until they stopped in front of a door that looked like an entrance into the depths of hell. Athena shuffled on the balls of her sandal feet. Soon they were left in a room with a large gap in between. Athena staring at it pondered if she had enough magic to fly across but decided it was best not to try but maybe if she were to swing from the ropes and use her flying magic to make it easier to move from rope to rope....that could work.
"Alright homies, try to keep up!" Athena lunged for the ropes with a squeal of joy as she swung from side to side for a moment before letting go and extending her wings to flap, giving her enough momentum to move to the next rope. "COME ON, THIS IS FUN!"

Well, that sounded nice. So there were others in the park somewhere involved in these shenanigans too. He opened the list, pleasantly surprised to see an Ellie on there, only no way it was his Ellie. And here was a…
Levenin felt a sense of instant dread that made his blood run completely ice cold. He recognized another name: Dante, the police kid from way back. There was no mistake. But that name could’ve belonged to anyone, right? Will we meet up with the other group at some point…? Urging himself to stay calm whilst in the presence of the guide and the tourists, Lev quickly flipped through scenarios in his head. It was fine, this was fine. So what if it was that Dante? He had a costume and mask for this reason. Faking voices was easy enough. And as far as the kid knew, he was still Nineveh. Of course, that only opened up the possibility of Dante seeing through his disguise and having a real name to hand deliver to the police.
No, he wouldn’t do that… He’s had every opportunity so far to turn me in and hasn’t… Why would he now during Persephone’s Reign?
With no escape from his group, he took a deep breath and collected himself. All he had to do was act natural, maybe fake a different voice. He was thinking too much into this. Not the appropriate time to worry about his identity.
Lev made sure to stay near the back of their group as he flicked on his mod once more to navigate the ever-growing darkness before them. Not that he was truly afraid; none of this was real. It was nothing more than a projection, maybe some person in a fancy costume, though the fact he couldn’t pick up any shapes in his vision worried him. Once they reached the pit, Levenin peered into the abyss below, unable to see anything at all. A bridge is too obvious. As soon as someone steps on that, it’ll break. Then again, this was meant to be a silly tour. People getting seriously injured was just asking for a lawsuit, so what harm was there in falling?
Just as he thought on how impossible the ropes would be for him, the woman took the initiative to go first. Lev watched, entranced by her energy and almost forgetting the blood-curdling screech emanating from the pit. ”Wait, umm—!” They never gave introductions. ”There’s something coming down the ropes!”
Spiders. So many spiders. For a moment he was quite distracted but then remembered he was the odd one out in his love for arachnids. ”Umm, whoever you are,” Lev called out to the woman, ”don’t panic! They’re actually really friendly, I promise!”
Well, if they weren’t the deadly breeds anyway.
Levenin gulped. He worried for himself most of all. Not one of these options was appealing. The side wall required more balance than he knew he could muster. If only he had a tail, like the fox and wolf men, then it might’ve been a breeze. The bridge, it was. "I-I'll go ahead. If we take the bridge one at a time, I think it'll hold out." This was no big deal, he didn’t weigh that much—
Crrrreaaaaaak
Never mind that. Barely a few steps in and there was that ungodly screeching again. His eyes finally caught something writhing in the pit, with too little time to react rationally. Were those hands? Lev froze for a second but kept cool as well as he could. They were simply holograms. What else could possibly make—
Crrrrrreeeeeaaaaakkkk
Their fingers twisted grotesquely around the planks, very much physically rocking the bridge more than a hologram should’ve been able to. They seemed to be uncomfortably aware of where his feet rested on the rotten wood and with that, Levenin made the not-so-smart choice to simply run forward alone. Apparently he was very out of touch with the capabilities of technology.

Eco's eye twitched when he heard an annoyingly familiar voice and its annoying costume suggestion. then twitched again when their guide seemed to agree on it. No...no, he didn't think he'd go with that. Actually, he was sorely tempted to kick the fox for his suggestion. Not that he wasn't annoyed at the guide either, but he figured he'd channel all his annoyance on the fox instead. And even then he wouldn't act on his urge; it wouldn't do to lose his composure. For now at least. For now he'd just give the fox an angry/annoyed smile before moving on with the rest of the group.
The wolf arched a brow at the explanation of the whole...messaging thing. He didn't quite get it himself either, but he figured he'd take their guide's word for it and that it'd all become clear once this 'tour' was in full swing. Now he just had to pick someone from the list of people, none of which was familiar to him, and send them something. Hmm...
Okay, that was out of the way, he supposed. He probably could have done better but...it was just a test message, right? Sure...
Huh, it sure was starting to get darker, wasn't it? Not that that was much of a problem; his mods helped him see well enough in the dark. It wasn't perfect, but good enough for him. Eventually they stopped walking, having arrived at a pit, which, obviously, had to be crossed. Sounded simple enough. Even with his improved vision he couldn't see anything in the darkness of the pit. Anything could be down there. Nothing too dangerous, he'd hope, but still. The unknown was a little...unsettling.
And, huh, that girl sure was an enthusiastic one, wasn't she? Taking the lead like that and just swinging on the ropes with wild abandon. Ah...admittedly that looked a little like fun. Did he follow after her, or... Hmm, something else? As he thought his options over, the spiders certainly caught him by surprise, though he wasn't entirely bothered by them. He was a tad skeptic when the guy said they were harmless, but then again it wouldn't really do if they were harmful in any way. The next to move was spider guy, who seemed to choose the 'safety' of the bridge. It started simple enough; then the ungodly screeching started, which both startled Eco and hurt his ears a little. Ugh, if that was what happened when you crossed the bridge, then he thought he wouldn't go for that one.
Okay, his mind was made up now. The ropes looked like fun and he'd be damned if he let a few spiders scare him off. After all, he might not have been fully aware of why he'd signed up for this, but he was now and he was going to try and have some fun. It didn't look all that easy, but he had enough confidence in his physical abilities and the likes to give it a shot.
With that in mind the wolf took a running start before leaping up and grabbing the first rope. Then the next one. And the next. It...definitely was a lot harder than the woman made it seem, he almost missed a few times and he did find himself having to swing a little extra sometimes, but... It was kinda fun. At least, if the small smile on his face was anything to go by.
