As the rain continued to fall, the mild humidity and occasional sprinkle of water coming through the cracks in the shattered building felt cool and soothing to the Lion now leaning against the questionably stable wall. The cold sent a single shiver down her spine, though what swelling it offered to reduce was appreciated compared to the dusty corner she'd sat in just minutes before.
There had been a bit of surprise in the air between the officer and his prey- more so on Rio's side she expected than his own. The fact that he only watched her unload the heavy handgun without drawing a weapon of his own was a turn she hadn't expected. He was either mad confident in his body armor- or a fool. Rio would have pegged him for a little of both.
Red ears perked, flicking once to rid themselves of dust, and again to tune in to the male's almost self-targeted dialogue. It opened up to his next sentence, what sounded like he was almost considering the idea of letting her go. Of course, it came with a bit of malice she already knew- and to be truthful the marksman had expected Uriel to be that exact caliber of person. One that would relish being trapped alone with her for an hour or two before leaving the wreckage and claiming the redhead an 'accidental' casualty.
Still, surprised or not- Rio wouldn't let an opportunity like this slip by. Even if rough honesty is what brought it about in the first place.
"That line of work almost did it today, frankly. If this room were lit I'm sure my hair wouldn't be the only red scattered around it."
A cold and equally refreshing truth. The amount of blood lost today would serve as a reminder for just how close the lion had come several times in the past to closing both eyes for good. The idea didn't settle well- especially knowing she wouldn't even get the luxury of a coffin in the slums like this. The marksman brought her organic arm up, running it through her hair with a sigh typical of a school child just barely avoiding a detention.
A large impact brought both eyes wide again as gold and blue settled on the male. His irritation had brought him something of benefit finally as a hole in the debris was opened up- followed by a familiar sight being kicked back in her direction. She hesitated, looking down and back up again before straining to bend down and pick it up.
"Yeah...I'm hoping to find a few of them in a medical clinic."
Revolver in hand, Rio holstered it behind her back once more. Out of sight, out of mind. It would likely be better to leave the bullets where they were, she had spares of course- but reloading in front of the agitated male seemed like another addition to the days bad ideas.
Slowly, Rio made her way towards the hole Uriel had created. She crouched down, making her way through to what had remained of the building with pride keeping her from making any noises too pathetic for the lion herself to deal with. All that was left was to descend the staircase leading out into the streets and hopefully make her way to a back ally clinic without dying on the way.
"I don't know if I can, or should, thank you for letting me go. You're probably more doubtful than I am though. If it's any consolation, I'd like to see you succeed. I don't have a lot of evidence to back it up, but not getting tortured or worse the moment you got a hold of me says a little more about your character than most I deal with- with or without a badge."
