What's the state on placing bets around fights and gambling in general? Would underground non-regulated contact sports/fights even be a blip on the radar? Is gambling that's not regulated by a casino or similar illegal? Because even today, there's controversy over at least the betting part, and then there's stuff like cage fighting/MMA that's banned in some countries but not the U.S. I'm assuming things using animals for sport are banned but what about with just humans involved voluntarily?

Levenin Heyo Nama! I think the state of gambling in Novus would be pretty similar to how it is today. There are some sanctioned casinos around the dome (probably mostly in the luxury district but you could find them elsewhere as well), but there are probably some more illegal gambling dens or pop up shops in the Lower Class and Slums as well. For physical fighting, there's definitely sanctioned arenas and fights that people can participate in! (It's actually what Brandy does aha, she runs a coliseum). They're subject to a few more regulations of course (no killing, extreme wounding, if it's a magic fight, magic is restricted enough to keep fighters from getting addicted, etc), but it's definitely not banned. Illegal fights are probably not the primary concern of the police since I'd imagine there's a lot of them, but if they escalate too much or someone calls in a complaint they would generally be shut down. And yes animal fighting would most likely be highly illegal, although that's not to say some people might do it anyways.
