Genetic Modifications:

Spider venom: Lyante is able to poison her lips. Depending on how much Magix she uses, the effect ranges from a mild inconvenience to deadly. She's greatly immune to her own poison (thanks to the small doses she ingests constantly, though large doses would affect her as well). Targets lungs and stomach. Needs to either reach the blood of her victim or be absorbed through a mucous membrane; otherwise it does nothing (so french kissing it is). 

Unique Tech:

Goggles: built with a multitude of features, the googles allow her to scan the electromagnetic spectrum (limited from UV to IR) and incorporating photomultipliers for night vision. Uv, visible spectrum, IR and nightvision are 4 seperate modes, they cannot be active at the same time and can't be switched at a moments notice (one post, one switch, with adjustment of the internal goggle screen). Furthermore they also include an interface for limited hacking capabilities. Has to either be physically connected or connected over wireless network. Able to 'rummage around, access low level security clearance, nothing too highly protected without additional security keys or knowledge. One of the smaller lenses contains a Geiger counter, capable of telling her if there is too much dangerous radiation, but no exact values (just gets an alarm). Able to connect with the Secret Police database if a connection to a suitable network can be established. Able to connect to the prosthetic eye, feeding it information for its data overlay. Goggles are connected to her port. 

If she is connected to the Secret Police database, she can get background information on her target providing: 
1) that person is in the database
2) AND she gets a piece of data (fingerprint, clear view of the target's face, etc) that is linked to the target and has an entry in the database (for instance, if your fingerprints are not in the database, she cannot get your info, even if she has your fingerprints)
3) AND she stays connected to the database long enough for the information to transfer

 OR
1) she links the goggles physically to the port of her target long enough to get his personal data
2) AND target is in the database

Searching the database usually takes some time and needs a stable connection. Cannot be done when she is within the field dampening of her spider, as the signal would be to weak, unless she is physically plugged into a network through which she can connect to the database. 


Prosthetic eye: The eye has the same capabilities and limitations as the goggles (4 vision modes, not at the same time, one switch per post). It also includes a data overlay (like augmented reality on the DS or google glasses) it can display data fed through the connection with the goggles. This connection can fail, in which case no data will be displayed (vision stays ok though). Has a reticle mode, helping her with her aim, but just like a normal reticle, it doesn't make her aim perfect. Can change eye color. 

Note: while the vision of the eye and goggles are independent from each other, there is no using two different kind of modes at the same time. It would turn out a dark blurry darkness as the goggles block the radiation type needed for the different mode for the eye. So no combining things. If they are used together, they have to be in the same mode, or Lyante gets one killer headache and no vision whatsoever. 

Personalized handgun: Lyante has a personalized handgun, modified to shoot high energy bolts. Foldable to be disguised as any non-descriptive little box (sigaret box, flask, whatever fits her current identity). While  the outer disguise of the gun can be changed, it can't change at will and requires effort and resources (like changing the cover of your cellphone). 

Lyante's robot Spider: Security dampening and surveillance capabilities. No offensive capabilities, but can be used as a one-time only emergency EMP grenade, destroying the robot. Dampening field and EMP range is immediate vicinity, able to shield herself, but not much else. The dampening field is tunable, leaving a small band of frequencies open for Lyante at reduced signal strength and quality. Anyone using those frequencies is likewise affected in the same way: signal gets through, but reduced signal strength and quality.   

Lyante's expansion/extension port: Lyante green collar detail (the one most central) hides a port expansion; multiple types of input. The expansion port is physically connected to her actual port with a hidden flat cable sewn in her outfit.   

Micellar Polymeric Gel: Lyante's a (bio-)engineer. As a pet project (literally and figuratively) she filled a micellar membrame with polymeric gel, saturating it with nanotech. The synthetic gel is programmed to react to stimuli (mostly touch) in a rigid way. It does little else. It's processing computer core glows with a soft diffuse light that can be changed in color. Basically a glorified paperweight toy.

Personality: 

Lyante is scarred (more psychologically than physically) by her first 16 years of life in the slums. She finds it hard to fully trust anyone, a feeling that hasn't changed much after joining the secret police. After seeing the inner workings of Novus, this belief only got stronger. She keeps this side hidden though, knowing coming across as warm and charming will net her more. Behind this facade, however, lies a distrusting personality. 

In order to survive the slums, Lyante has grown to judge people on their use to society and herself; as well as adopting a Machiavellian world view. In this light, she prefers the benevolent tyranny of Novus' government to the old world governments that led the world to ruin. She beliefs in the benefits of Novus' society, because it worked for her, able to take the Test, each time improving her situation. She's very protective of her secrets and her past, having done a few embarrassing and illegal things to get by in the two lower circles. 

She's not incapable of feeling compassion, but in order for her to act upon it, the situation has to be pretty extreme and with virtually no risk for her. She has little to no friends, preferring to use people before they use her. Despite this, she can, however, respect people for their actions or skills. 

When she can't distract her mind with work or science, she is secretly extremely lonely. 

Background: Unbeknownst to her, Lyante is the daughter of two secret police officers who were killed by vigilantes when they were betrayed by a colleague. The chances of her ever finding out this fact are close to zero and she has long since stopped caring. She was placed in the care of her uncle, a magic abusing heavy laborer. After a couple of years he finally ran out of luck buying black market magic codes promising above and beyond performance and died a horrible, painful death. Lyante found the corpse and kicked it to make sure it was dead. Then she kicked it again. Having no other immediate family and no other family willing to take her in permanently, she had to fend for herself, staying short amounts of times with families friendly enough to let her stay for a while before moving on. As she got older, she  started doing some questionable things in order to survive. Meanwhile she put most of her effort into trying to study for her Test, realizing it was her ticket out of the slums.

She scored high enough on the Test to net her a student position, moving to the lower class. She continued her barely legal activities, but tried to shift the focus to more legal activities, aiming to join the police force after graduation. It was during her studies that she lost an eye in an experiment through no fault of her own. Still pissed off about it.

 After graduation, she passed on a research or educational job and applied to the police. Once in, she moved to the middle circle. In the year with the polcie force, she almost never left the office, helping out in the R&D department most nights, while taking on all the assignments she could. She also played the political game, turning a blind eye (get it?) to the right cases, letting the right people get away. At the end of that year, she retook her Test, her trackrecord, scores and her connections landing her a position in the Secret police.
