A meaty question for theologians and philosophers, to be sure. To be more specific, I have two questions for each individual who wanders into this thread:
1) Why do you write? Is it to amuse others or two express the deepest motions of your very SOUL? Or some other reason?
2) What kind of stories are you here to tell? Adventure, romance, mystery?
If I may be permitted a touch of egotism, I'll answer my own questions:
I write to entertain. I am an inveterate joker and a shameless melodramatist. It's fun. And I love to tell adventure stories, with plenty of buckle and swash. I'm thinking of writing a Spanish swordsman, who wanders the streets looking for duels wearing a magnificent and tremendous hat.

Oh man these are a cool questions, let's see hm...
I write mainly just for fun really! But I also do it to tell stories, entertain myself and others. U v U Character development is also a reason. Seeing how my little baby characters tackle situation is great. I think... I usually go for adventure stories with a lot comedy and probably some romance. Though... |': I'd really like to write one of those stories where everyone eventually gets fucked up someday because I really like those kinds of stories LOL
BUT MY GOAL FOR WRITE IN RE:DUX IS TO BRING EVEN THE SLIGHTEST LIGHT OF HOPE AND HAPPINESS IN THIS DARK DARK WORLD.

For the first question I am not really sure, probably a couple of reasons. i write because sometimes I can't express what I want to say or its hard to. Sometimes I want to give a voice to others so they can have something to believe in or aspire to be. And other times, I simply want to tell a story and for that story to move the readers.
As for Re:Dux, I suppose I am writing to expand my writing and....ships'

(!) Right. My answers. *flops incoherently/ thinking*
1. ouo;;; Yeah, wow. My reasons aren't that grand or romantic. Kind of because I'm this evil calculating person? S-sorry...
A) I like the mental exercise of figuring out how to put things to together. It's soothing.
B) I'm curious about people. It's fun to explore the world to test its limits, and even more fun to see how people react when you poke em.
Will they be calm? Excitable? Unpredictable? Do they go with the flow or do they get angry? Can I provoke or guide them to the kind of response I want? Fwehehe~! *ker-poke/ analyze writing/ muse over though processes behind it/ cue the happy brain dance* Yissss.
C) If I write things, oh boy! People might write back. \;u;/ Reading other people's responses gives me feels. I like feels. A lot! *stares you down* ...A LOT.
D) I also love when people laugh. It's not the main goal so much as a super bonus. But I mean, if people get my humor enough to laugh along with me so that I don't feel as evil , heck yeah! I feel really lucky~♩
2. Hm... I don't think I have just one kind of story I'm here to tell. It always depends on how people respond to each character I make. Outright horror isn't really my cup of tea I guess, so I shy away from it the most. My personal YES combo? Mystery with a dash of adventure! And, you know, a little romance when it rolls around every once in a blue moon. Fluff is good. Fluff is precious. Long live the fluff.

[/b] i write because i like doing it first and foremost— i don't write to please others (and i have a very long migraine-inducing essay i could write about me vs. others' taste) because appealing to my audience takes the fun out of it for me. idk i am super super super super super self-indulgent with my writing but i am past the point of caring. i enjoy the physical act of putting words on a screen or on paper and coming up with the perfect way to wrap a sentence together using the right words with the right pacing it's like, idk, i know my writing is good but likely not by traditional standards by which we judge writing. but i dont really care about that. if i were to ever have an actual sizable audience, it's guaranteed to be a niche one and that's completely fine by me since i always find myself being the person with a niche taste tl:dr; i am salty bc im 2edgy and everyone else isnt but in my work that i actually make to be /for/ people i really love infusing my weird sense of humor and making people laugh, because i think self-depreciation is not only hilarious but a safe way to deal with ur own inefficiencies, and people can definitely relate to that feel 2) like, here? on this EARTH??? on this FORUM??? man i just wanna rp stupid bros doing stupid shit + angry hot ladies who can probably kick in your face so hard it becomes a smear on a wall. did i mention the ladies were in fact also lesbians? theres never enough gay in my life but as it stands im looking to have two characters either in mid or upper class or both secret police i hope, and also my loser running around the slums w his best friend, and ill see who else ill port over but rn it's just taeyeon, croft, and alex [/ul][/font] |
