*Things are going pretty well so far.*
Crowlin’s smile widened a bit as he watched from the rooftop, a small group of fellow vigilantes trying to break into the building across the street from the alley loading dock. Their target was a research firm in the middle class sector that allegedly was working on a police and government contract to develop a new type of surveillance tech. Crowlin wasn’t quite sure what the government was trying to make but he, and apparently the team down below were going to find out. Crowlin wasn’t actually with them though, the group trying to break in were just an unexpected entertainment bonus for the hacker.
Crow...or rather, Omen...intended to just break into the network and copy any information, data, and schematics that there might have been on the tech. The would-be burglars on the other hand would probably try to destroy anything and everything that they found relating to it, and that wasn’t his style. It was too messy, too risky for the situation, and more importantly it would mean harming a civilian company. Crowlin wanted to take down the Secret Police, sure, but he wasn’t going to have good hardworking people become casualties in the process.
He sat at the edge of the roof, his computer in his lap and a cable connecting it to a small but powerful antennae that was now currently attached to the side of the building next to the leg that hung off the side. At this point he had already cracked into the network and was looking for the files he wanted. He might not stop the government from getting the tech, which was ultimately a futile process anyway, but he could still get what he needed to start developing a way to counter it, or at least pass the info off to someone who could. Either way, Crow needed to work fast. Those guys were making a bit of a racket trying to break into the security door and it was only a matter of time before they…..
Set off the alarm.

The sun in the twilight gave a heavenly pallet of yellow to orange to purple in the evening sky, for having a simulated atmospheric system it was sure pretty at times. Just like the old days, though Rakuen never knew what the old days were. She assumed it smelled better.
It was late in the day and yet she started her cafe shift, the gigs began the wee hours of night. However it wasn't just the chance to sing to the locals and have a good time whilst, this hub was also a place she could hear all the latest-- about the secret police. Where they'll be and what purpose. And where they'll strike there will be civilians in danger. Rakuen's mission as a vigilante, was solely to get innocent people out of harm's way. This was certainly a dark age, to Rakuen.
The cafe wasn't particularly full this evening, just the usual fans of the place already drunk and it's not even passed seven yet. As Rakuen began to put on her apron her tall rabbit ears twitched to the sound of changing frequencies of a radio and her eyes lit up. That was the vigilante's radio in the secret back room. Slinking back into the secret room without the drunken customers seeing her go into the aback room out of sight to find her way into the secret back-back room, she heard the the voices of her comrades, saying something about a heist break-in to attain government surveillance tech. Well that sounds awfully dangerous, with surveillance tech that's got to be heavily watched over with some of those very same tech. And Rakuen wasn't going to miss out on anything, any possibility that it can go awry was high on her mind. Rakuen ran out of the back room and set her apron on a special hanging rack, sure that the owners will understand what it meant as she ran out the cafe door in and into the night. Quick feet took her fast to the other side of town, hoping she wasn't too late--
Then broke the air the distant sound of an alarm setting off.
"Damn!" Rakuen said under breath as she sprinted faster, taking her last step to jump high over a fence and into the fray, it looked like the mission failed and they were in danger now. Without a second to waste she bolted into the fray, looking for signs of life as she dodged the spotlights.

By the time that the alarm started sounding, Crowlin had already started making his way through the system files in the company's network. Personel files, financial statements, inter-company negotiations, there was plenty to sift through until Crow finally found the reserch and development files. He could already hear the sirens from the approaching police, so he didn't have time to try and find the exact one he was looking for. Instead he dumped the entire subsection into his laptop's harddrive, prepping to disconnect and get the hell out of the area as fast as possible. It would take a couple of minutes before the transfer would be complete, and hopefully the idiots trying to break in would distract the police long enough for Crowlin to get away.
In the meantime, Omen focused on prepping for disconnection and covering his tracks within the company's system. Soon enough the police arrived, and Crowin pulled the half-balaclava up over his mouth and nose to keep his identity that much more hidden as he watched from the rooftop. The officers jumped out of their cars and surrounded the building, flashlights in hand and spotlights from the cars searching for the culprits as a few cops moved into the alley and towards the loading dock where they would innevitably cut off the small group of burglars for arrest. Crowlin on the other hand had finished copying the files that he wanted and disconnected from the network, stowing his laptop and antennae into the pack strapped to his leg.
Finishing his work, he stood up on the edge of the roof and turned to jump to the next building. This action caught the attention of one of the younger officers however, a nervous and trigger happy rookie who spotted the movement and turned, firing off an energy bolt from his handgun up at what to him looked to be a shadow. Unfortunately for Crowlin, the kid had some beginner's luck it seemed, as the bolt hit him in the left thigh, burning a clean hole in his pants and a causing a painful 2nd degree burn on his leg. It took everything Crow had not to yell out, gritting his teeth and letting out a growl of pain instead. His next step was the pushoff for the jump to the next building, on his left leg. It didn't work out well as pain lanced up his leg and back, misstepping and Crowlin only managing to delay his 3 story fall with a temporary catch on the opposite roof ledge, again on the fire escape, before bouncing off the top of a dumpster and onto the pavement.
Crowlin turned slowly onto his back with a wince and a painful grunt, eyes looking with only slight relief that he hadn't landed on the pack carrying his tech. He couldn't really move much as his vision went in and out, feeling that he might have cracked a rib or two with the fall as well and hopefully didn't have a concussion. It was only the grace of fate that the rookie officer's uncertainty of what he was shooting at meant that the call of his superior officer asking what the hell he was doing and calling him over to help arrest the vigilantes they're pulling from the building.

There was only a few vigilantes there. She got there quicker than the police did, her voice hushed so only an ear distance could hear it, passing them along as he told them all over and over, "To Kingsbury, to Kingsbury." All she could do now for them was to pray they all safely go back. She was now looking for any civilians and redirect them out of the area, if she knew how every typical raid night goes-- there will be fire soon.
Fortunately there wasn't many, if not no one around the loading docks except some graveyard shift employees perhaps, she didn't care who they are just that they get out of here fast. The sirens drew near. The shouting and gunfire grew louder and closer, she herself had to get out of there now. Light cast upon her and her own shadow on the ground and brick wall scared her, she dashed out of the light's view and into an alleyway, the only way out from here was going down that way anyways.
That's when she saw in the corner of her eye someone fall down on the pavement, groaning as he turned on his back, glimmering fangs appeared when he gasped for air, vapor for the cold night billowed out as he exhaled. Rakuen, heart beated fast and heavy as she saw him hurt, but also the sound of footsteps coming this way. She had no time, she had to get out of here and back to the cafe. Her eyes darted to the end of the road a sliver of light between to buildings back to the man on the ground, his leg seemed to be injured. Gritting her teeth she bolted for the man, picking him up by his arms she hefted him up. He was heavy for some reason, much heavier than he looked initially. She wouldn't be able to drag him out of danger, they both be caught and shot dead on sight. Rakuen's eyes looked about, down the road up the road and to some dumpsters behind her. Then her eyes flashed bright orange when she looked up and saw a low roof of the building, that was her only way out. she dragged him over grunting under her breath and with all her might she bent her knees to give boost him up a bit, then hopping up with her long feet she slipped her legs in between them, her feet touching his chest as she kangaroo kicked him up into the air, then quickly she hopped up high as he was still aloft, grabbed onto the back of his jacket and pulled him over the roof, her other hand grasping the edge of it so hard her fingers bled from it. She let out an unintentional yelp from pulling him up and over the roof, his body tumbling as she threw herself as well over the roof, just before the spotlights followed them but never touched them. They were safe for now.
Rakuen's breath as raspy, tired and her body just rested there facing the ground as her head rested flat, her amber eyes fiery from the rush, staring back at the man she saved.

Crowlin had certainly been in better situations than this. His leg had been shot with an energy bolt and his capture by the police was probably inevitable at this point. He needed to get out of the area as fast as possible and he tried to move his leg, but the energy bolt that had struck him had done well to make the limb both painful and temporarily useless. His vision was blurry from the impact, which was not a good sign but he wasn't blinded at least, not that he was in much condition to defend himself anyway. He let out another hard exhale, the fog condensing from his breath and dissipating into the air. After a few more moments he felt the presence of another person next to him. This was it, the beginning of the end, he let out a sigh, waiting to be either shot dead where he lay or turned onto his back and placed in handcuffs.
*Sorry mom...dad...*
Half-lidded eyes closed as he waited for what was to come, but after another moment he felt himself being dragged further into the alleyway. He was confused to say the least, unsure of what was happening but it didn't seem like something the police would do. He heard a soft grunt as he tried to he push himself in the direction he was being dragged in an effort to not be useless dead weight. That attempt didn't last long however as he felt his body being hefted up and soon felt himself being thrown around like a doll, at least having gone up to a rooftop it seemed. The yelp that he heard from his apparent savior was unexpected and sounded like it was a she, but Crowlin couldn't be sure. Soon enough he felt himself laying on his back again, breathing the cool night air and listening to the heavy breath of the person now laying next to him.
Crowlin took a couple more deep breaths, trying to block out the pain that still ran through his leg. He then turned his head to the side, his eyes opening slowly and finding that the blurriness in his vision was subsiding. The first thing that he noticed was the rabbit ears, causing his eyes to widen as he sat up to try and get a better view of the person who rescued him. After a couple seconds though, his vision cleared and his eyes softened after a wince of pain from his leg. It wasn't the person that he thought it was, but that didn't diminish what she'd done for him and she was quite a sight on her own. He pulled himself a little closer to her and lay back down next to her, resting a hand on her arm.
"What's your name?"

Rakuen watched the man's face go in a series of expressions, but the most expressive was his gold eyes. Once he seemed to focus on her his big pupils dilated to frightening long slits, then contracted again to large circles when his face relaxed on hers. The shocking dramatic changes in his eyes made her eyes dilate bigger, not sure as to what his problem was. He tried to come closer and fell down on the ground next to her, his arm reaching out to her.
Rakuen took a moment to look down to his wound again, seeing he was shot with some kind of energy gun. He couldn't be of the secret police. He dressed not as such, and the way he was shot seemed like he was running away from them. And in his eyes told her everything that he knew. He was not innocent like the citizens. He knew things, even Rakuen couldn't comprehend, she felt in his eyes.
The feeling of his arm finally coming to her arm and grasping it, snapping her eyes from his wound for a moment her breath got deeper and heavier, turning into white vapors in front of him. He asked for a name. Her eyes squinted a little and she gently pushed his hand off and setting it back to his side, getting up and looking out and about, seeing if they were in the clear still. The sounds were distancing, there was no more gunfire and the sound of sirens going away, as if the raid was over and some had been taken custody. Rakuen eyes flashed bright again and she gasped, "Kingsbury!" she said, getting up and ran towards the moon that was peering out of the clouds. She stopped slowly to look back at the man still injured on the roof, seeing that his wound wasn't bleeding at least, he'll be fine on his own now. She just really need to get back to the cafe. She needed to see if anyone came back safely.
***
It has been a late night again. The next night at the Kingsbury Cafe was quiet, and yet he night was still very, very young. Rakuen placed down a mic on the little square of stage in the back corner of the cafe, next to a wooden stool as she sighed. There was no content on her face, just a grim frown that made her whole being look so melancholy. She learned last night only two out of the handful of vigilantes made it to Kingsbury that night, the rest-- she can only hope that they were just arrested, but she felt like she knew better to think they had it that easy. And what about that man she saved? She hoped he made it out alive.
Rakuen sat down with am acoustic guitar in her hands, the feeling of those gold eyes still on her made her feel uneasy. Maybe she shouldn't of left him like that. If she ever saw him again maybe she'll say she's sorry... but then again, she did save him. Is there anything to really say sorry to then?
Rakuen breathed and began strumming, a few people clapped as they recognized Rakuen was singing, the regulars always loved to her her sing.
This night was peaceful, and yet her mind was at war all the time.
"I'm going back to a time when we owned this town Down Powdermill lane and the battle grounds We were friends and lovers and clueless clowns."
This could be the last she sees these people, either the next time she's killed for knowing things and against government, or the nest time the regulars-- the staff, the owners-- dead i the crossfire, or treason.
"I didn't know I was finding out how I'd be torn from you When we talked about things we were gonna do We were wide-eyed dreamers and wiser too..."
But maybe it was best that things were like this at night, so careless and unknowing. It makes life just... bearable.
"We'd go down to the rides on east parade, By the lights of the palace arcade And watch night coming down on the Sovereign Light Cafe..."

Crowlin was a little discouraged when he felt Rakuen moving his hand away from her arm. It seemed as though the young woman wasn't the most outgoing person he'd ever met it seemed, but Crowlin was determined to thank her properly for probably and literally saving his life. She looked away to see if the coast was clear or not, and as she did so Crowlin sat up and started looking himself over, gently patting his ribs and torso to see if there were any other injuries he needed to get looked at. It seemed as though his ribs had only been bruised by the fall down into the alley, and he was actually a little relieved that he'd been shot with an energy bolt. A second degree burn he could deal with on his own with just some scarring, but it would have been a much different story if he'd had a metal slug pierce his leg.
He looked to his savior for the evening, eyes more closely observing her rabbit ears as well as her cat tail. It was an interesting combination, but the hacker thought it worked quite well on her, finding her rather cute. His eyes widened for a moment at the thought that just passed through his mind and nearly chuckled out loud. He wasn't sure when the last time he had such a thought, but he was a little amused at himself for it.
His attention was soon caught by her gasp and yell before she sprinted over to the other side of the building and nearly jumped off, but looked back at him before she did. Crowlin appreciated the concern she gave to making sure he was alright before she left him, but they both knew he would be fine and she seemed to be in a bit of a hurry. Crow raised his hand and gave her a lazy wave and an appreciative smile, looking forward to their next encounter.
"See ya'round~"
After she'd departed for the cafe, Crowlin took a deep breath and looked his leg over. With the police gone now, he could take his time getting down and walking back to his place to break out the burn cream, first aid kit, and a couple of painkillers. He'd have to take a trip to the Kingsbury Cafe tomorrow night.
***
And so he did. The next evening, Crowlin made his way into the establishment, looking around and not seeing his rescuer there. He was a little discouraged by it but he was already there, so the vigilante decided that he might as well enjoy the visit. He sat down at one of the tables and ordered a slice of strawberry shortcake and a glass of milk, waiting patiently and enjoying the atmosphere of the place. It wasn't long before the waiter arrived with his order and he started diggin into the dessert. On his third bite however, he heard some of the patrons clapping before the sound of a guitar and singing began flowing through the air of the cafe. He turned to look over at the corner stage and there she was,
*No wonder she was in such a hurry to get back last night.*
He smiled and switched to the adjacent seat at the table, continuing to eat his piece of cake and watch his savior singing.

Tonight at Kingsbury cafe was a pleasant night. Rakuen sang, the customers seemed to like it, the whole place smelled of the special brew of the day; vanilla spice. Soon though Rakuen stopped singing and it was time to get back to waiting on people and refill any cups that ordered pastries or non specialized drinks. The people sheered and applauded for her, and Rakuen smiled and held one hand up in appreciation. She took in a breath and let out a sigh when she got up and set her guitar back into it's case but not closing it as it was she sings every hour to half hour to kept the cafe exciting for customers. Picking up her apron and putting it on gently so her ears could go through easy, the tall things popping out from the collar part of it and flapping, soon Rakuen taking tucking them down to brush them with her hands to fix the fur.
She never noticed the man she saved from yesterday in the cafe, but she never really payed any attention to faces anyways. She refilled the coffee as she walked asking or if they asked her, her tail lazily wagging slowly and swirling as she walked, with a very modest no teeth smile as she went, looking rather warm and friendly, but at the same time cool and distant.

Even Crowlin had to admit that he was finding himself a bit taken with the young lady that was currently signing in the corner of the café. He was very much enjoying her performance and the smooth cadence of her voice, the leo being one of the first to start clapping when she had finished. He continued eating his piece of cake and relaxed in his chair, watching as she got back into full uniform for work and started making her way around the tables to refill the coffee cups where needed.
Unfortunately for Crowlin, he wasn’t actually drinking coffee, but that wasn’t going to let something like that stop him from getting Rakuen’s attention. As she got close, he casually raised his hand and called out to her.
“Excuse me, miss.”
He brought his hand back down on to the table and looked to her, offering a pleasant smile. He wasn’t sure whether or not she would recognize him given that he was wearing a black half-mask when they first encountered each other, but if she didn’t seem to then he was prepared to bring his hand up to cover his nose and mouth in an effort to jog her memory.
“I’m sure you’re busy with work for a while longer, but after you’re shift would you mind if we talked a little? Maybe we can have a coffee while we do, on me~”
He was after all very much interested in getting to know her better, and of course he still needed to properly thank her for the night before. He certainly wouldn’t have been here tonight enjoying a treat like this if it wasn’t for her. Hopefully she would agree.

Rakuen's eyes widened and her tail flicked up frozen when she heard his voice. She knew it was the man she met yesterday night. She turned around so suddenly, her eyes that were a little slit now round and big looking at him. So he survived. That was a relief on her mind. "You..." she said, setting down the coffee pot before she dropped it.
There was a lot she wanted to say. Like how she was sorry that she left him there without really knowing he was entirely safe up on that roof, or how much seeing him here frightens her a bit. She's glad he's alive, but was he a vigilante or a secret police? If he was the latter the safe will soon go under flames and it would be all her fault.
Rakuen's eyes retracted into slits again when he asked her if they could talk. Oh this was good, she could have all the blame on her and spare the cafe owner's life, she couldn't stand it if someone was to suffer or die because of her. She would say this was her doing behind the owner's back, that it was a safe spot for vigilantes on the run. Her hand trembled, but she smiled, picking the hot coffee pot from the table and remembered her customer service. "I get off at nine, that's two hours away. You'll have to buy more things if you want to stay without loitering, or else they'll kick you out." she said, turning around quickly after that and getting back to work.
All throughout the shift, she looked back at him, analyzing him, seeing if he's a threat or not. he didn't seem like one, but she couldn't be too sure about that. She sang every hour, poured more coffee and wiped down some tables, humored the regulars with mindless banter. The usual, plus one intimidating man in the corner of the cafe.
Soon she was off work, and she dressed back into her own clothes, letting down her from the high ponytail and walking up to the man again, still a bit trembling from the anticipation of what he wanted to talk about. "So, what was this about coffee?" she began the conversation, her hands fingering the edge of her jacket.
