The things Crowlin said to Rakuen made her smile and chuckle under the sorrow stuck in her throat, her hand coming up to wipe any forming tears that might of made her vision a bit fuzzy. Crowlin sure was positive even at times like these, the sight of a neighborhood burning and yet when she looked at him and only him it felt more like a warm fire if nothing else. He said she wasn't alone on it, and he was for certain that she could be an aspect of his own gains, in which she hoped were for good. She could just hope that perhaps as much as Crowlin wanted to hang around Rakuen, he could help her with her mission in life, and maybe more than that. "Right."
Soon enough the wind picked up and the overcast started to clear into a nice sunny day, the fire department putting out the flames and looking for the unfortunate. The sirens of the firetrucks made Rakuen feel uneasy, and she stood up, tugging at Crowlin's jacket, "C'mon, let's get out of here. I don't like looking at this anymore."
Finding their way down, and even a bit of a scare when Rakuen slipped and fell the last story of the apartment complex they were just sitting on, Rakuen swung her body and landed on her feet. She held her arms closer to herself as she waited for Crowlin to come down before she asked "Well, it's getting a bit cold and dark now. You want to get some coffee again, or did you have something in mind? Do you need to be somewhere now?" her tone sounded happy but she didn't smile, but she didn't frown either. It was hard to get her to really smile lately. She looked at Crowlin quietly with the anticipation of his answer, her tail swishing this way and that obvious she wanted to distract herself from the ordeal they previous went through. "I'll understand if you have some important things to attend to. The fire was caused by a rumor that a vigilante with crucial government data was in the area."

Crowlin was glad to see that she was smiling again, even if it was only for a little while. He found himself thinking that someone like her should always have a reason to smile, and he let his golden eyes enjoy the amber hues of her own as Rakuen seemed to come to terms with the things he had said moments before. Not a moment later though did the city’s artificial weather start to change, clearing out the clouds and revealing the artificial sunlight that cast onto the two of them. Crowlin normally would have enjoyed the warm light, but under the circumstances it actually felt a bit harsh.
It seemed that Rakuen wasn’t interested in sticking around any longer either and he smiled as she tugged on the collar of his jacket, the leo rolling on his side before standing up next to her.
“Sure.”
Crowlin climbed down the side of the building with the spliced young woman who might still have been a bit weary from the incident that got them there as she slipped down a story to the ground below. Crow quickly let go and dropped down as well, kicking off the wall and rolling to his feet, but was relieved to see that the bunny had stuck the landing and was already waiting for him.
The hacker took a deep breath to calm himself some before getting a slight smirk out of what Rakuen had mentioned about the reason why the police were in the area. In any case, Crowlin figured that the two of them should take some time to let their nerves actually settle.
“Fortunately, this time I’m not the one with the data.”
He gave Rakuen a playful wink, but fell into a gentle smile as his tone became more relaxed and sincere.
“Which also means I don’t have anywhere I need to be. Somewhere safe would be nice though, and my place isn’t far. If you’d like we can go there. I can make us that coffee and we can get your hands cleaned and bandaged up.”

Rakuen gave Crowlin a playful roll of her eyes when he winked, albeit relieved to hear that he wasn't the vigilante that started all of that chaos. The air seemed to get a bit warmer when Crowlin began to talk, offering her shelter, coffee and even some attention to her blistered bleeding hands. She looked down to her hands as if that was the decider of her saying yes to his proposition, they really were torn up by the roof turf and she might of had some rust infecting the wounds.
With a short sigh Rakuen nodded, "Sounds good," she said, hardly thinking of any bad about going to his place, and home for her was a bit far away from where she stood, she didn't want her mom to see her wounds. "Let's go then."
As they walked, Rakuen hid her hands under her arms and huffed at the cold air, finding it a bit unbearable that it was finally winter in the city, though a bit early. "So umn," Rakuen broke the silence with small talk, her tall ears came up and turned in Crowlin's direction as she walked beside him, "You... always lived around here?" She couldn't think of what to say, but that always seemed like a generic question to ask. Not everyone was like Rakuen and stayed in the middle class ring all her life.

Crowlin seemed to light up a bit when Rakuen agreed to the two of them going back to the safety of his home. He was also glad that he'd cleaned up recently and that a small pile of dirty laundry in the corner of his room was the only thing that someone might really consider a mark on that. He turned and started making his way back towards the east side of the middle class district that they were moving through.
Having gotten away from the ambient heat of the burning building, Crowlin silently agreed with Rakuen that it was indeed a little chilly out, his exhales traced with vapor as they hit the newly winter air. He looked to her when she asked about his living conditions and it reminded him that he didn't really know much about Rakuen other than where she worked and that she was not any more a friend to the police and government as he was.
"Ah...yeah. My day-job is in computers so that usually sits people in the middle class. It doesn't matter much to me where I live though, but I have to keep up some appearances up for safety's sake. So I just keep a nice little apartment."
He smiled and turned the corner of the block, taking a more relaxed breath now that the two of them were able to talk a little easier and without the worry of anyone shooting at them.
"What about you? A hard worker and with a voice like yours, I'm sure you do well for yourself."

Rakuen liked watching the vapors billow out from Crowlin's lips as he talked, watching it dissipate in the dry cold air. Computers seemed like a decent job. She could bet it pays well, too. Though Rakuen was curious as to what exactly did Crowlin do on those computers, was he some kind of designer or maybe he worked with company-kind of projects? She didn't feel like prying, though.
As they turned another corner Rakuen just a bit behind Crowlin as they walked to follow him, she blushed and looked away. "Oh, well... yes." Rakuen held up a hand to warm up her nose as she spoke hot breath into her hand, "As you already know I work at the Cafe for..." She looked at Crowlin to emphasize her point, "... obvious reasons," Pulling up her jacket a bit more her hands closed the ends together as she walked, looking rather distant for now, "And, I also help out at the school my mother works at, she's an art professor." Rakuen looked down after that, "And I also do some gigs."
Rakuen wasn't entirely proud of her occupations, for one she wasn't making it big as a musician yet, and two she lived with her mother because-- well, with the money she makes, cafe singer and waitress, artist sometimes and the gigs-- she juuuuuust makes it to stay in the middle class-- but it's also she doesn't want to be alone, even if she doesn't have close friends and stays away from other people.
"Umn. How far did you say your place was?" with all the embarrassment and endless walking, she was starting to lose trust in him and in the back of her mind felt like this was some kind of trap.

Crowlin smiled as the two of them walked, getting closer to his apartment building. His smile turned into a playful grin as he saw her blush a little at his compliment. He liked her modesty, and her reaction seemed like it wasn’t something she was told very often, so he liked knowing he was able to at least praise her talent. He listened to her take on work, his golden eyes a little wider and impressed to find that she did quite a bit more than just working at the café. Beautiful, a singer, helps out at a school, and protects good people from the police? What isn’t there to like?
“Sounds like you’ve got quite a lot on your plate. That’s really nice of you to help your mother like that though. And singing professionally, I’m surprised I haven’t seen an album of yours out yet or I’d give it a listen.”
He smiled again, and then her question caught his attention as he turned to look ahead of them.
“Oh right! It’s that building right there actually.”
He nodded to a decent looking building just a little ahead of them, about 9 stories tall. It wasn’t long before the two of them arrived, Crowlin pulling out a key and using it on a small at the front double-doors to trigger them to slide open for the two of them. He walked inside and over to the elevator, pushing the button and the two of them taking the short trip up to the third floor. He rounded the corner and opened the door to apartment 508.
He stepped inside, dropping his keys on the counter next to the door and then to the side to let Rakuen in. It was a relatively simple studio apartment, clean but obviously lived in.
“Welcome to my humble home. Make yourself comfortable and I’ll go get some stuff to take care of your hands with.”
He walked into the kitchen area where he grabbed a clean hand towel, dampening about 2/3 of it, a small bottle of hand soap, and a lunchbox-sized container from under the sink before making his way back to her.

Rakuen blushed, and found herself messing with a lock of hair on the side of her face looking about. "O-oh you don't have to... I doubt you'd find it anywhere easy to download..." she said, knowing she was novice really and her album was pretty down there and buried, among the other rising stars that want to be something. She looked at him with warm ambers, not a smile on her face but it said trust for him, her eyes asking something but not really sure what they were asking, as if it was just a curiosity for him now.
Hopefully though, the mention that they were finally there to his place, made her blushing go away and she stopped playing with her hair in a nervous way, following him in and into the elevator. Thank goodness the elevator was spacious enough so she could keep her distance away from him, her personal space bubble very wide at that very moment, but still had those eyes that shimmered and seemed to glow with curiosity.
They went out of the elevator and came to door 508, Crowlin opening the door to the simple studio apartment. The light streamed out of the windows and onto the floor and furniture, it felt lived in sure, but it also felt like it didn't see much of Crowlin except at night possibly, and early mornings. She walked in and looked about, her rabbit ears moving this way and that, taking a mental image of the place for her own reasons and maybe it would be useful later in time. But soons he came up to the window and looked out, seeing the recognized the area down below, and soon realized just where he live in the middle class, and where that was compared to where she and her mother lived in her mother's condo... Rakuen sighed and wished she made just a bit more money... so maybe she could live on her own and risk her mother's freedom knowing she harbors a vigilante...
She then looked back to Crowlin, her hands till being held up, dried with blood and rust on it. "I'll wash my hands and I'll be right with you." she said, going to his kitchen and washing them in hot water, gritting her teeth and grunting loudly at the pain. The rust went away but what was left was torn up skin, and she came over to Crow and sat down on his couch, her ears turned down and tucked behind her head as she was worried that it was going to hurt again when he treated it.

Crowlin looked over to the side as he dampened the hand towel that he intended to use, his eyes falling on Rakuen as she looked out his window at the city below. He had a simple apartment with a decent view, finding himself hoping that Rakuen approved of it and that the fact that there were a few things lying around didn't knock any points off.
He started making his way over to the couch as she turned and headed for the kitchen to wash her hands a little. He winced a bit at the sound she made as the water his her, no doubt a painful experience. As she washed, he set the towel down on the table and opened the box he'd brought with him, his first aid kit that he put together if there was ever an emergency nearby or in his home, heaven forbid. The two most important things that he got first were the tweezers and a pair of nail-scissors, followed by a gauze pad, some bandage wrap, and a small tube of ointment.
He waited patiently as Rakuen finally made her way over to the couch and sat down next to him. He smiled to her and started getting to work, gently guiding one of her hands toward him and using his thigh as a workplace as he took the towel and gently dabbed the cool damp side onto the area of wounds of the first hand.
"So what kind of music do you like to make?"
Her wash had actually done a lot to help get rid of most of the debris, Crowlin using the tweezers to pull just a few other pieces of dirt and rust, careful not to poke or graze her with the metal tool. He might not have been a surgeon, but his work on computers still have him some pretty steady hands and fingers. Once all of the debris was out, he took up the scissors and started gently cutting off any loose and soon to be dead skin that might help an infection form. Fortunately that part would be painless since there were no nerves to worry about. Finally was the part he expected her to enjoy the most, relatively speaking, as he grabbed the small tube of antibiotic ointment and started spreading it around on her hand.
"Good stuff this. Antibiotic and it has a little local anesthetic in it. Should help ease any pain you might be feeling in a bit."
He smiled again in his focus as he set the tube down and placed a large gauze pad over her palm, then started wrapping some bandage tape around it and securing it with a few wraps around the base of her thumb. One hand almost down. One to go.

Rakuen's rabbit ears remained tucked down when he began to work, his first aid kit out and warmly comforting her even in his own silence. What surprised Rakuen- even if it wasn't meant to be a surprise- was a surprise to her when he touched and guided her hands to his thigh to work and tend to it. His touch gentle, the feeling warm skin against hers made her instantly blush when something clicked in her head, her face feeling warm from the cold outside still trying to fade away in a studio apartment that wasn't warmed up yet.
And with that moment when Crowlin was busy she looked up with a subtle turn of her head not to distract him from tweezing dirt and rust, he was very gentle but it didn't help the slight stings of the treezers pricking at her skin, Crowlin doing a thorough job of cleaning out her wounds. She watched him as he worked, seeing the gentle and rugged details of his face as he focused, the warmth he was radiating off sitting next to him at a close range, the feeling of a higher blood rate because of that. She wasn't sure if it was the anxiety of sitting next to someone this close and having them touch your hand, or perhaps it was the shyness of actually knowing someone more than just a customer at the cafe or a fellow vigilante. She's seen him three times now, and every time they meet they get more... personal into Rakuen's life than she really felt was unnecessary. But this-- what she probably felt- was something between the lines of what she was always protecting herself from--
feeling some attachment to someone else. Especially someone who risks their life everyday.
Rakuen's eyes softened as she kept staring at him as he finished up tweezing out the debris, the smell of him was faint but present and it was soothing, a smell that reminded her of something that she hasn't encountered in a long time. Seeing Crowlin move up a little as he began to talk Rakuen turned her head and blushed harder while looking down to her hand in his, hearing his question made her even more hot in the face, yet another personal question.
"O-oh... W-well umn, I really like Indie rock a lot." she smiled, it was obvious her thoughts were making her uneasy a bit, she was starting to loose her cold and distant composition. "But I mostly sing covers, though that album I have... some of those are my own songs."
After he was done, he told her about a special ointment he was going to put on her wound, and in fact it didn't hurt at all, her ears rising up again in slight delight. "That does feel like it's starting to fade away." she smiled bigger and looked to Crowlin, probably the most genuine smile she's given to someone in a long, long time. "Thank you." When he was done with that hand, she turned on the couch a bit more to face Crowlin to give him the other hand, placing it in his gently as she looked back up to him, almost staring as she waited for him to continue. Even if Crow did bandage up the hand he treated, it was clenching somewhat as Rakuen was trying to accept Crowlin in her mind.
She was beginning to feel an affection for him, and it was obvious in her unfading smile.

Crowlin was not the most social of people, like Rakuen, more out of choice than anything else. He was of course on good terms with his parents, calling and keeping in touch, going for dinner every once in a while, asking for advice, etc. That said, he found himself in a much more comfortable situation when he moved out and he enjoyed being on his own. Of course his work in computers didn’t exactly foster social skills, and his life as an anti-government hacker made him wary of people and careful about who he talked to and spent any sort of time with. He wanted to make sure that he was as safe as possible from the government and police’s eye, and he wanted that to extend out to those people that he did spend time with.
Something about Rakuen though continued to hitch in his mind, something that he couldn’t figure out. He was attracted to her sure, he wouldn’t deny that she was beautiful, but it was something more. The care that she took and the way she chose to live, and the mystery that she had mostly shrouded herself in up until now. He felt a need to understand her, know her better. It was a pull that he enjoyed just as much as the time that he spent with her.
“Indie rock is good stuff. I’ll have to pull your music up on the computer once I’m finished.”
He gave a cheery smile, his eyes meeting her own for a moment before returning to the hand that he was working on. He was glad to hear that the ointment was working quickly for her, as he could guess how much her hands stung before. He could almost feel her eyes on him as he finished wrapping her first one up, and it made him feel warm and even a little nervous, but he liked the feeling.
He set the bandage tape back down, and as he did so he saw her turn towards him and offer her second hand for him to start on. He looked at her and saw her ears starting to perk up and a smile on her face that surely must have put a red tint on his cheeks. She was beginning to feel more comfortable around him, trust him, and Crowlin felt that warm feeling growing stronger as he gently held the hand that she had placed in his.
“Sure thing.”
The soft smile never left his face as he began working on her other hand, repeating the process of making sure it was clean, applying ointment, covering it, and wrapping it. Crow looked to her and returned the smile as he finished before returning his attention to the supplies and putting them back in the kit.
“Heck of a morning. You’re welcome to stay for a while and rest. I can even cook us up a little lunch to eat while we listen to your album.”
All the while he hadn’t even realized he’d yet to let go of her hand.
