Tai stood outside Rick's house and tried not to pace. He was already conspicuous enough, his red clothes standing out against the greenery that surrounded the gate on the path that led to Rick's house. He didn't need to make himself stand out worse by pacing.
Not that there were that many people to see him, Rick's hosue was in a nice upper class neighborhood, where the houses were all separated from each other by way more green space that Tai had ever seen back in the Slums. He couldn't even see Rick's house from where he stood, it was hidden away by leafy green plants that Tai assumed were bushes or shrubs or something.
He hovered his finger over the call button on the discrete intercom system, trying to find the courage to push it and growing more and more annoyed with himself. So he was being paid to kill someone. Big deal. Why was he acting like some Upper Class prick who didn't know the business end of a gun from the trigger? The thought suddenly struck him that Rick probably had some form of cameras trained on his front gate and was probalby watching Tai dither about like an idiot. For some reason, the idea of Rick not being impressed with Tai troubled him.
Taking a deep breath, Tai pressed the button, waiting only a few heartbeats before speaking. “It's me.”

Rick glanced briefly at the clock in his office; Tai wasn't much late, but he was still incredibly nervous about the whole situation. What if Tai had decided it'd be better to sell him out, and his door was about to get busted down by the police? There was enough in his office to be incriminating, security codes and floor plans and unlicensed silent weaponry in neatly organized piles. Taking a deep breath, Rick tried to turn his attention to his computer, the paperwork he'd brought home to work on that weekend. He made a good show of focusing for maybe five minutes, before the intercom thankfully interrupted him. He pushed himself back from the desk, walking out of the room and to the front door, pressing a button to buzz Tai in. "Come on in, it's unlocked for you," he said, leaving the front door to walk into his kitchen. He'd set the kettle to boil a few minutes prior, and figured that he could use the comfort of a cup of tea, even if Tai was ambivalent.

Tai walked into Rick's house, trying hard not to appear tense. Just the size of the house was intimidating. As far as Tai knew, it looked like Rick lived alone in a house that could have easily fit at least six other people; more if they didn't value their personal space. Certainly, there was far more room and far nicer materials than anything Tai had as a child in the Slums. There was real wood for the floors, and Tai had to force himself to walk on them. The expense of the floor alone was more than enough to remind him that Rick had enough money that if Tai didn't screw this up, he'd probably never really have to work again.
Rick had opened the door, him into the house, than walked away. Cautiously, Tai followed uncertain of exactly what was going on. As he walked, he lowered his hood, trading increased peripheral vision for the possibility of being more easily recognized. By whom he had no idea, but it was a paranoia that had served him well over the years.

Rick tried to keep an eye on Tai as they walked to the kitchen, noting the way he glanced around. Rick guessed Tai was either trying to take everything in, or looking for escape routes. Or maybe something to kill Rick with. That, admittedly, sounded a bit unlikely, since Rick was still the man with the money. He wouldn't have put it past Dan to have found out somehow, and bribed Tai to kill Rick instead. Rick ran one hand through his hair as they reached the kitchen, reminding himself to calm down, to keep breathing. This was gonna be fine. "You want tea?" he asked, pulling several silver tins out of one of his cupboard. "I've got, uh, three kinds of green tea, a raspberry herbal one, I think this is mint, and I'm pretty sure at least one of these is black tea..." He gestured vaguely with one of them at Tai, in what he hoped came across as a slightly humorous, friendly gesture, rather than accidentally being wildly offensive.

Tai stopped in his tracks and blinked. Of all the things he was expecting Rick to say, an offer of tea was not among them. He also wasn't expecting Rick to have that many varieties of tea; he looked more like a coffee guy. But it had been chilly outside and Tai hadn't had a good cup of tea in a very long time; the best you could get in the Slums was just leaves and twigs. Certainly they didn't have three different varieties of green tea. “Yeah, tea sounds good. You have black?” He tried not to smile as Rick gestured at him with a tea tin; for someone who was paying for an assassin, Rick was remarkably animated. Of course, it wasn't like Tai knew what the average assassin hiring person was like.
That thought quickly sobered him. He wasn't here for fun, he was here to get information on a job so he could do it and then get paid. Once he got the job done, it was highly likely that he'd never even see Rick again. For some reason, that thought was kind of upsetting.
