As the conversation started and ended in the entrance to Poly's house, Zeke slept. He'd exhausted himself to the point where there was nothing for him to do but sleep and now that he had, it was certainly going to be harder than that to wake him. The shifting and movement on the chair, however, was a sign that maybe the sleep was coming to an end if not right then but soon.
Maybe about twenty minutes after Kyne had left was when Zeke began to stir a bit more. Beneath the calm and quiet of the man curled up on the chair, troubled dreams stirred him. They weren't solid by any means but instead full of fleeting glimpses of panic and fear; his heart began to race and suddenly he moved, flinching back and woke as he caught himself from falling.
White knuckled grip on the edge of the chair reminded him that he was somewhere safe, somewhere soft and Zeke pulled himself up, trying to slow the fast breathing. Right, he was here, here in Poly's house, he was safe where he was and as the ache, the crawling sensation across his skin, the spinning in his head told him that the hours he'd rested had put far too much time between now and his last fix, he tried his best to ignore it.
Safe. Good.
With a heavy exhale, only a little shaken and only a little stretched thin, left him, he sat up properly on the chair and pushed his hair back out of his face, not quite ready to look around for Poly or think just yet. He didn't feel quite awake just yet, everything still feeling far away and hazy and he just had to sit and let it come back to him again now. At least.... at least he felt rested. That was something, so far.

There had been some time in between Kyne's leaving and Zeke actually waking -- enough time for Poly to wander about the house and do a few more chores before going back to the old cookbook again. It was really quiet in his house again, but he didn't want to take any risks playing any music or anything to wake Zeke. The poor thing definitely seemed like he needed the rest.
But because of how quiet it was, and the sheer proximity of the kitchen to the living room, sudden noises of shifting around caught his attention in the middle of turning a page. Poly paused there, dropping the page from his fingers and leaning away from the kitchen counter. Silence again after a moment, but... "Zeke?" he called, softly still.
He waited a few more moments before leaning against the door frame, blue eyes on the blond. He didn't look so good, honestly, so Poly was very quick to put on a radiant smile for him. "Did you sleep alright...? Sorry, that chair can't possibly be the most comfortable thing, but hopefully it served as a decent resting place."

Zeke let the silence wash over him as he willed himself to wake up fully and face the ache across his body because being awake meant being near Poly, and somehow the other young man's nature just made everything feel slightly better. He hadn't yet looked around for him, though it seemed that his motions had been noted because from just outside the room he heard his name called. The noise prompted a bit of a sudden movement from him as he registered the sound before the words, but when he turned his head to look he saw Poly approaching the doorway. He was said sorry to and asked about how he slept.
Well, not good but it was a stretch to hope for a good night's sleep when all he wanted was more magix. Still, he nodded his head yes because that honestly wasn't Poly's fault. Why not ask him, a stray thought said, but he ignored it as best he could. Poly seemed more concerned about the chair being a bad place to sleep, anyway. It definitely might not have been comfortable enough a place to sleep by the standards of someone who was used to their own bed every night, but considering this was fairly luxurious in comparison to the places he usually found to catch a few hours of sleep, he had found it more than comfortable enough. Zeke released the breath he was held and forced a bit of a half smile, rubbing the sleep from his eyes and hoping Poly didn't think any of this was his fault.
In response to this, Zeke glanced at the notebook and pen on the table and thought he might want it to answer more fully. He stood up off the chair, though the moment he did he felt all the blood rush to his head and he wobbled, vision nearly blacking out before it subsided to a low buzz. He steadied himself, reaching down for the notebook only for him to feel that dizziness spring back on him with each movement. Slow- he had to take this slow then, it seemed. Damnit, damnit, he needed to get his shit together but he.... he didn't want to leave just yet if he didn't have to, he wanted to pretend things were okay if for only just a little longer.

Oh -- oh. The little half smile he was given took his breath. Maybe it was just because of how worn out the blond was, but Zeke smiling even a little was never going to stop making Poly's heart flutter a bit, was it? It made his own expression a bit more relaxed, less beaming energetic and more soft and caring. If the florist had it his way, he'd make sure to keep Zeke smiling as much as possible. ... What was stopping him from trying, anyway?
Zeke's intention of dispelling Poly's personal guilt worked out, and the white-haired man stepped fully into the other room now. Pale eyes had flickered to notebook, so it only made sense that he got closer to read what the blond had to say. As the little notebook was reached for, though, there was a bit of instability to Zeke's form that made Poly cross the room a little more quickly.
Still, he didn't touch the other without permission. He merely gestured back the way he came and offered the other hand for Zeke to take if he wanted to. "Why don't you come into the kitchen with me, help me figure out what to make? I'd love to make something that sounds really tasty to you." There was the sweet upturn of his lips then, completely ready to hold Zeke's hand to lead him. Unless it was refused, then. Well, that was fine, too. Hopefully the other man would agree to accompany him, at the very least.

Poly's presence at the doorway, and then after a moment in the room, was surprisingly calming. The smile felt a little more relaxed as the other spoke again, still tired and worn down but not as difficult. The aches and static hanging over him seemed a little easier to ignore. Despite that, though, his... unsteadiness had been noticed, it seemed. Poly outstretched a hand to lead him into the kitchen and offered to let him help pick something to make to eat. The thought was a little much; his stomach flipped, and he wasn't sure if he were hungry or nauseas but he knew it would be good to eat, that any churning in his stomach was just his body crying out for magix. Fingers curled around the notebook and pen, Zeke's eyes moved between Poly's hand and his face, unsure.
Zeke nodded at the suggestion and then hesitantly, he took Poly's hand; something to ground himself with, something secure and very much there so that when the room inevitably started spinning again he could steady himself with it. He let this stand as an answer, not quite sure how to word a proper response in the notebook for now. Once taken, his grip on Poly's hand was firm as if he were afraid to let go and float away. The other might notice that he shook ever so slightly when he moved, but luckily Zeke didn't even know he was doing it himself or he may have pulled away in an attempt to hide it. He didn't know how long he could put off leaving but.... he just wanted to stay a little longer, and he felt immediately reluctant to even let go of Poly's hand.

He felt worried at first, maybe the hand was too much? Even without touching Zeke, was Poly maybe being too bold...? He swallowed, blues watching as the other man looked from the outstretched hand to his face. After a nod, though, the blond hesitantly took Poly's hand, and relief washed over the florist. If he were the type to place blame on others, he'd complain about how dealing with Zeke was the equivalent of walking on eggshells. Every action had to be checked for being too sudden or just too much.
But honestly, he had no conscious problem with it. As such, he gripped the other man's hand in his, leading him toward the kitchen. It wasn't really a long walk, but Poly was very aware of the other gripping firmly and slightly shaking. He was still in a rather poor state, wasn't he? Poly made the effort to get him in there sooner, leading him over to a chair at the small table in the center of the kitchen. A small pang of uncertainty caused him to hesitate before releasing the blond's hand.
Quickly retrieving the cookbook he'd been flipping through before, he brought it over to the table and pulled up a chair to Zeke's left. "Now that we can actually talk, you can tell me what sort of things you like," he prompted, tiny smile on his face still. It was a harmless question, right? And he really did want to learn more about the mysterious blond stranger. That, and being able to narrow their choices would probably help tremendously.

Zeke was content enough to follow Poly over to the kitchen, glad to have the hand to steady himself when another wave of dizziness almost blacked him out. Everything - - it felt difficult and he was tempted to find his way back to the chair and sleep more but he knew he should build his strength up to leave. When the kitchen greeted him, though, and he was lead to the chair, he took the seat eagerly and released Poly's hand less-so. Something about the other man felt so incredibly safe, reassuring; releasing his hand worried him that the feeling would disappear immediately but it stayed, even if it was less present without him immediately near by.
A cookbook was placed down on the table, and Zeke set the notebook open beside it, ready to answer anything he was asked about. What came, though, was a very open question: what did he like?
For a moment he just sort of looked at the book, expression more or less unreadable. There was not a lot of... choice in his life, in the past few years. It was eat what he was offered or starve, it was sleep where there was somewhere he wouldn't be disturbed so that he wasn't too tired to run when trouble found him, and it was keep moving or die. Survival didn't allot him much choice, so now he just... wasn't sure what to respond with.
Instinct to brush Poly off again struck up and he pulled up the notebook to write that anything would be fine and more than he was used to, but the sight of the small smile on Poly's face out of the corner of his eye stopped him. Instead, a less than even breath escaped his lips and he shut his eyes for a moment, mulling back to when his life was easier, to the things he'd chosen back then. A bit of a smile surfaced on his face as he opened his eyes, an almost amused look for a second because the first thing that had come to mind had been sweets. Not just candies, which weren't too hard to find though not often what he bothered with, but actual honest baked treats. Cakes, rich vanillas, chocolates - - ice cream. he hadn't had ice cream in years and he was simultaneously ashamed and amused with himself that the first thing to come to mind was that. This was not what Poly had asked of him.
Pen moving in his hands again, he noticed now as he put it down to the paper that he was shaking and willed himself to stay as steady as he could. He felt like being relaxed was coming a bit easier, despite the gnawing want in the back of his mind, solely because of Poly's presence, and the lines and letters were drawn mostly smooth.
<< i like most things >> he started, unsure of what to write at first. Ice cream, if he were to have asked for it, would likely have been too much for him right then. << what you made yesterday was really good. i dont feel well and something mild might be good for me. >>
He left it at that, though, not wanting to ask for more, especially when he wasn't sure what he could even stomach. It was hard to tell, it was always hard to tell when he went too long without any magix and a decent meal, but given that he'd eaten yesterday he thought he could at least keep down something simple right then. Zeke pulled his hand back away from the cookbook, glancing at Poly for a moment before dropping his gaze as a sudden reminder of guilt hit him. He didn't want to ask for anything more, regardless of how he needed it.

Hopefully, Poly was giving off the most patient aura possible. He really didn't want to rush Zeke or anything, because there was no reason to. No, on the contrary, the longer the blond took to decide, the longer he was guaranteed to stay right here with Poly.
Without realizing, he'd actually slipped into sort of... staring. Blue eyes traced the shape of the other's face, suddenly aware of just how tired the blond looked this close up. A renewed determination flit inside of him, because he really wanted to help Zeke -- it wasn't optional, to him, but he really didn't know anything about the man seated next to him. Were there people who cared about him who would be missing him? It was a little troubling, the sudden realization that his "help" might be harmful, especially when he noticed the shaky breath. Maybe he was doing something wrong -- ?
But soon enough there was a bit of a smile on Zeke's lips again, and Poly bit his lower lip as he smiled in return. He immediately found himself wondering what was going through the other's mind, as patient as he usually was. It wasn't too much longer until the pen was brought to paper.
Instead of anything specifically telling, Zeke insisted he liked most things, and that he probably needed something mild considering he didn't feel well. Poly brought a hand to his lips, tapping his fingers against the bottom one in thought. "Do you want some medicine for that? It's nausea, isn't it? I have plenty of things for that. Some of it helps for when you're just feeling really anxious, too," he said, a sheepish expression overcoming him at the note of having medicine for nausea and anxiety of all things. It was just so easy to worry too much ever since --
-- Anyway, he paused to think about light dishes that would be easy on the stomach while he waited for Zeke's answer to the medicine question.

Hands fidgeted with the pen a bit as Poly answered, watching the way he tapped his lips and moved, feeling once again amazed that such a considerate and caring person even existed, let alone that he'd found Zeke when he needed it. There was still a bit of doubt that this could actually be real, but the ache and want burning his mind told him he was still in the real world. He certainly didn't think he could have imagined anyone this nice, anyway; his dreams were usually less than kind to him.
Poly answered finally, though, offering medicine. That- - somehow hadn't been an expected reaction. However, if just plain medicine could take away some of his symptoms he would have jumped on it ages ago. No, it was... he needed magix, he needed it, and the thought of asking still disgusted him too much for him to bring the words to the paper. Instead he just shook his head, jotted a quick, << don't think it would help but thank you >> and then let his hand rest on the paper. No he... knew that short of something to knock him out entirely, nothing else would help.
After a moment though, he added, << id like to help cook if i can, too >> It'd... definitely make him feel less bad about just accepting the help had so far, even though that wasn't really much that he had to give, given his state.
