It felt like a quiet day, like it always had when Riona had 'work' to do. She'd received a text message earlier with some photographs and the usual details. Some 'packages' had gone missing and the usual string-pullers weren't very happy to hear who's hands they'd wound up under. Of course, a grunt like Riona wouldn't get the minutia, only the facts she needed to know. One could only guess what went missing. Drugs or bionics- whatever incited enough action to call for a bullet in the head. In the slums however, that didn't take much.
She scanned through the pictures one more time, mentally recalling the features of the two men she'd been told to hunt. Killing never stuck out as something the young redhead enjoyed. She guessed it never would- either, but for Rio this mission came with a meal and a favorable pay cheque. It used to be enough to simply eat and not get beaten before she went to bed. Boy, was she living the high life now or what? She sighed, closing silver eyes for a moment and shaking the unfavorable thoughts aside. Those times were behind her now, pre-game was no time to get distracted with the past.
The streets, a flowing lifeline of frowning faces and bartering merchants felt like a bazaar at every corner. It made blending in easy- a convenient trait in Rio's line of work. She carried a briefcase in her right hand, partially to hide it under her poncho and partially because carrying a gun in a case was a bit too strenuous for her organic arm. It had been about an hour since she started scoping out places to hole up in. An apartment complex roof would likely do the trick- it was high up after all. Hopefully this wouldn't take very long.
Once the redhead made it to the top of the building, she followed through with the usual routines. Riona pried the door to the roof shut with a nearby deck chair, opened up her briefcase and began putting her rifle together. She'd gone through this procedure a hundred times over, to the point where the mountain lion sniper's mind was more focused on dinner and napping than it was with actually engaging her rifle. Everything would work flawlessly as it always had of course. If there was one thing her 'benefactors' didn't cheap out on- it was Rio's eye and the rifle it was meant to be used on. There was no scope on the rifle- and really there was no need for one. A simple iron sight at the tip of the barrel was even too much, as the female's orb engaged with a sharp blue glow. Her range finder was working perfectly, and her zoom was on point.
Riona laid down on the edge of the roof, cozying herself against the damaged and worn granite beneath her. She activated the counterbalance on her cybernetic arm, assuring her rifle wouldn't move as she took aim to the location she'd been given. It didn't take particularly long for the targets that fit the description she'd seen to become visible under the cross-hairs of her eye. Of course, the same conditions that hid her before also served as a crutch when working. The population was high, and even with a supressor those nearby would figure out a shot had been fired and chaos would likely erupt soon after.
No matter, all she had to two was line up two shots, and the rest would play itself out for an easy escape.
