Full Name: Nadine Damani
Age and Date of Birth: 23, born November 20
Gender: Cis Female
Orientation: Demiromantic Demisexual, single
Class: Lower Class
Occupation: Salvager. Nadine spends much of her time in the more dangerous areas of the zones. She prefers the wet season of the savannah, the seaboard, and the rainforest as the large amounts of water and humidity allow her electrolocation modifications to function better. Nadine’s love for plants leads her to focus on finding and collecting rare samples of plant life, but as exotic fauna are often more valued, she spends more of her time hunting.
In effort to remain close to her family in the lower class, Nadine smuggles in and trades many of the samples and materials she finds, so as to not attract too much attention from the government. Not only does this allow her to keep a low profile, but also brings in a bit more money than if she simply traded samples for wages through the government.
Nadine also does private runs to the salvage zones to find specific materials for those who can pay well. Likewise, she will on occasion serve as an escort into the zones for those less traversed.
Affiliation: Civilian
(Madelia, however, was affiliated with vigilantes. Nadine doesn't know much about them, but she knows of them and knows her mother salvaged materials for them and offered a safe spot on occasion for them.)
Genetic Modifications: Nadine has had genes spliced with the electric eel, and received electroreceptors from her mother, who had similar modifications. As a result, she has the organs needed for bioelectrogenesis and electroreception: the Hunter’s organ, the Sach’s organ, and electroreceptors in her skin. Nadine can thus use electrolocation to sense living and nonliving things. Her range is fairly stunted in dry air, as it only extends about three arm lengths. However, with air saturated by humidity, her range extends to fifteen feet. When submersed in actual water, that range doubles. She can also give off weak shocks when using water magic, akin to a Taser. Nadine can only shock in quick pulses, and if used more than a few times consecutively, Nadine becomes weak and famished. If Nadine attempts to discharge without water magic or another more conductive outlet for the electricity, she shocks herself as well. Due to the large amount of splicing, Nadine also suffers side effects of having dry skin that has become greyish from her initial dark olive skin tone, akin to the eel.
Nadine also has a prosthetic left arm that she received after losing her arm from the elbow down as a kid. It doesn’t do much, and only serves as an annoyance as it is a stiff, ancient piece of junk. It does, however, have a compartment within it that can hold samples from the zones, and, due to it's chunky build, masks their presence in case of scans.
Unique Tech: Nadine uses a battery-powered sniper rifle that fires various intensities of electrical energy bullets. It holds a charge for around a week with light use, but depletes more quickly if it is used often, and takes around half a day to charge. It is mainly used in the zones for protection and killing or stunning big game. She also carries a large skinning knife. As for tech, in the zones she brings small battery-powered doodads that emit pulses of electricity at different frequencies that can be placed to give her a location reference. They hold charge for around two months. Nadine also carries a white noise voice scrambler that plugs into her port for some of her less legal dealings that functions for an hour before it goes dead and needs to be recharged for a half hour.
Appearance: Nadine is solidly built and imposing at 6’4” and 196 lbs. She has a rectangular body shape and a greyish, dark olive skin tone. She has a diamond facial shape with high, angular cheekbones, full, oval lips, and a previously broken nose. She also has electroreceptors scattered across her face and body that look like larger than usual black pores. Nadine’s eyes are upwards tilted, usually half closed, the colour of stagnant water, and are framed by large, wire-rimmed glasses. Her hair is very short, curly, and greying. Her port is on the back of her neck. She has stick and poke tattoos on her right forearm. Rows of small squares encircles her arm to about 3/5 of the way up. The last row is unfinished.

Personality: Nadine comes off as a brutal person. But underneath she’s really just…harsh. Wow.
Nadine often acts out of interest in her own image. After all, she didn’t get to where she was by not looking imposing all the time. She is, as a result, very passive with emotion, often coming off as cold. She prefers to keep herself professional, although often this doesn’t keep her from becoming invested in people. She does, however, have a penchant for the absurd. This results in terrible, deadpan jokes that don’t actually come off as anything remotely funny.
She is very much empathetic, yet even that results in more harshness, since if one can’t grow large, grow tough, they will get devoured by life. And what is it to care about something if it dies? And she does care. She cares so much about her family and her plants, those she’s invested in, those under her protection. Nadine wants control over her chaotic life, and she also wants control over those she sees as relying on herself. Yet despite her best efforts, everything remains independent…
Nadine’s desire for control also manifests in the desire to be powerful and feared. If anyone challenges her, she will try to show them up; if they win, she’ll hold a grudge. If Nadine feels she was mistreated or cheated, her vindictive manifesto mandates she follow the perpetrator to the ends of the earth to get revenge and prevent that person from ever repeating their mistake.
She is cynical, and believes others to be cynical. Nadine thinks the resulting cycle is repulsive, yet strangely hilarious. Everything is a disgusting joke because she’s the most revolting, spiteful cog in the bitter, ironic machine of life. She is unhappy with where she is, feels yet she can’t change. It’s hilarious.
Background: Nadine grew up in the lower class with her parents, Madelia and Felix, and her brothers, Seth and Lucz. Both Felix and Madelia worked in the greenhouses, but Madelia later took on the job of salvager to help pay for private schooling in the middle class for her children, daring the harshness of the salvage zones to bring a better life to her family. She often took Nadine and her older brother Seth on less dangerous jobs to show them both how to fend for themselves and the raw, uncontrollable beauty of the cruel landscapes. Although Lucz was too young at the time to journey with them, Madelia looked forward to the time when she could show him the harsh beauty as well.
However, Madelia eventually died from cancer, developed due to her regular exposure to radiation. This left Nadine alone and feeling responsible for her family when she was 15, as Seth taken the Test and placed into the middle class as a common police officer, and Lucz was only 7. Although her father tried and failed to maintain the family’s financial status while Madelia's health deteriorated, taking additional hours at the greenhouses and often working far into the night to earn not enough for Madelia's treatment, he could not handle the stress for long. A short while after Madelia's death, he broke down. Nadine dropped out of school to take up the duty of breadwinner and the yoke of salvager. Her friends from school drifted away, and once the time for the test arrived, Nadine placed lower class. Felix continued to decay, descending into alcohol and drug abuse, leaving all responsibility on Nadine. All she has is her family, yet the bitterness she feels towards Seth’s abandonment, the revulsion towards her father’s inability to control himself, and the jealousy of Lucz’s continuing education creates a rift between Nadine and those closest to her.
