Boots? Check. Corset? Tight and tied. Lipstick? Flawless. Pistol? Concealed under coattails.
Kendra had to admit, she looked nice when dressed up. There weren't many reasons for her to actually put on anything fancy ( and to be quite honest, she might have gone shopping for the festival ), so when the time came she got a tad bit excited. Though her excitement felt a bit lacking all things considered. Her arm was fixed, her bone had healed, and the stitches were all out. But her company for the evening... Happened to be the same person that had caused the damage in the first place.
A sigh left her lips as she pulled back her hair, securing it with multiple pins and two metal sticks wrapped in mint ribbon. She was on security detail for the evening, and she had to look the part of unassuming escort. That didn't change the fact she still wanted to slam her fist into Samuel's jaw and watch him fall to the floor. Dreams were nice to have even if they couldn't be realized. Maybe something interesting would happen or he'd be taken off her hands by some lovely interested party. She had interrupted him before, the poor thing.
Well, at least their meeting time was ticking closer. The sooner things moved on, the sooner she could actually enjoy Persephone's Reign.

To be honest, Samuel hadn't really picked out all of his outfit on his own. While it was an entertaining event, milling through endless choices in an attempt to find something that fit his tastes was an inefficient use of his time. But some of his acquaintances in Upper Class had offered to put together a few possible selections for him, so he'd let them have their fun and then chosen from the options they'd presented. It was fun to go for a different aesthetic at times ( and that was the point of the event, no? ), so Samuel had chosen one of the slightly more extravagant ones. At least the color scheme was still simple as he generally preferred.
Luckily for Kendra, Persephone's Reign was longer than just one night. Plenty of time for her to go and enjoy the festivities with the friends she didn't have. And it was sweet of her to be worried, but he'd had plenty of time to make up for the one night stand she'd interrupted before. His driver pulled up in front of her house, and Samuel sent a quick message to her NUIP informing her of their arrival. The driver got out to open the door for her, while Samuel continued to scroll through his business info as usual. Persephone's Reign was an interesting time for sales. Plenty of Upper Class children seeking treatments for the idiotic injuries they'd gotten themselves during the festivities, but also plenty of Slums and Lower Class citizens looking to grab merchandise ( legal or not ) that was normally unavailable for them. Hard to balance his priorities as to what would gain more profit. Well, that was part of what tonight was for, to gather information on this year's attendees before he laid out any sort of plan.

Samuel's message came while Kendra clipped a string of white pearls into her hair. Her hands continued to work as she read it, taking her time to pull the clip out of her mouth to pull her bangs back. One last check over her outfit, and she felt her eyes lingering on the pair of leather gloves sitting on her vanity. After a moment of hesitation, she decided against it and instead grabbed her bag to leave. The buckles opened easy enough while she walked through her house and attached it on the opposite side of pistol, making certain it laid flat against her hip.
For some reason, she didn't know what she had been expecting for Samuel's outfit. Certainly nothing quite so… White. Her brow raised the instant she saw him sitting there. She couldn't deny that the thought of it being the wrong car crossed her mind. But they way he ignored her while she slid in next to him quickly confirmed his identity.
"Certainly going for the 'don't notice me' look, I see."

Was he not allowed to wear colors that weren't dark tones? Certainly he didn't usually but it didn't mean he was incapable of doing so. He gave a quick glance back at Kendra as she got in. Hair was fancy enough, but otherwise her outfit was rather practical. His shoulders shrugged at her comment. "I assure you I won't be the most extravagant person there by a long shot. If anything I think the white will make me stand out less in comparison to the brighter colors." Even if the details of his outfit was elaborate, he doubted he would stick out very much.
The driver began moving as soon as they were in the car, heading towards the Middle Class. Theoretically the car could go all the way to the mansion, but the traffic there would be horrid. It would be much easier for them to get out earlier and walk the last stretch to the event. He had confidence in Kendra's ability to move the crowds out of the way for them.

Certainly he could wear colors aside from darker tones, it just seemed odd. With how often she found herself around him, it wasn't exactly a common sight. Though white did seem more likely than say… Yellow or orange. Not that she was really in a position to comment on his lack of color variety when she rarely wore anything outside of grey tones and red. Well, green complimented her hair quite well. Even if her outfit fell in the 'practical' spectrum, she doubted Samuel would have been too happy if anything happened and she couldn't move into action.
"If everyone is wearing bright colors, it would only draw the eye to you more." She shrugged. It just meant more frustration if she had to fight people away from him. Not that she much cared if people wanted to gain his attention. They'd be too busy dancing to pay her much mind anyway.
"So what level are we reaching for here?" She didn't so much as look at him while she spoke, instead looking down to examine the nails on her right hand. "Total isolation, or would you be fine with people approaching?" Much as her anger still burned towards him, she did have a job to do.

Warmer colors didn't seem to compliment him much, what could he say. They drew unnecessary attention to oneself and were more likely to clash with other articles of clothing as well. The style of his tattoos were rather severe as well, so they didn't tend to blend well with such colors. And it was very true, that she was here for her job. So functionality was a must. Otherwise he didn't much care how she chose to arrange her outfit for the event.
"I suppose that's one way to see it. I simply think I'll be rather drab in comparison to others there. I assume that's the reason you chose your outfit as well...?" It didn't particularly stick out much, after all. He doubted there would be any fighting at such a public event, but it didn't hurt to have security. "There would hardly be much point to a party if I ignored everyone, now would there? I don't attend these things to stand around thinking about how much better I am than everyone else, contrary to what you might believe. Perhaps you can learn a thing or two about socialization Kendra."

Really, most everything about him could be seen as severe or striking. From him stare, to the tattoos, even to his haircut. Samuel really stood out, even if he said things about not wanting to. It would only be natural to follow him with your eyes for one reason or another. Though, Kendra always preferred function over fashion. Even if she wasn't on a job, she would have chosen the same outfit.
"That, and the fact frivolous things aren't exactly on my wishlist for clothing." Honestly, she liked the outfit. It was snug in all the right places, but still gave her enough ability to move. And she had to admit, the tightness across her throat and under her breasts felt nice. Not that she would actually say it out loud, of course. But there he went, making a snippy comment about her socialization skills. "I'm in your care, Samuel. After all, you're so much better at worming your way into hearts than I am."

Well, this was really all quite relative, wasn't it? Compared to those who had modded themselves with animal traits or bright tones and fluorescent lights, he paled in comparison. But it wasn't simply up to the viewer whether he stood out or not. Presence had all too much to do with it, and he was decent enough at altering his own so that he could either stand out or blend in as he so wished.
"I was unaware you even had such a thing." She seemed the type to just choose whatever fit and wouldn't break immediately. It was almost surprising she'd managed to conjure up something remotely fashionable for the night. He'd half expected her to wear her regular uniform. Samuel shrugged at her response. "Call it what you will Kendra, but charisma is valuable. Even if it does sometimes create some unwanted admirers." He yawned, putting away the screen with his work on it. He'd gotten everything he needed for tonight, so there was little point in continuing to review what he already knew.

The fact Samuel didn't really had mods was a bit interesting. Aside from physical cosmetic adjustment, he didn't really seem to have anything that set him above others. Most everyone had something done to themselves nowadays, so Kendra did vaguely wonder why he hadn't gotten work done. Hell, she had been debating on getting a few more before the year was over. Not that it really mattered if he did or didn't have them - it was just a curiosity.
"Contrary to what you might think, I do enjoy the occasional nice outfit. I just rarely have a reason to actually indulge myself." With how her work schedule went, there really wasn't much time to think about actually getting to wear things outside of her usual casual clothing. Going to parties with him didn't much count as a chance to dress up either seeing as she was on duty. And the only reason she had done so for that night was to not stand out during the festivities.
"And that's what I'm here for." She said while rolling her shoulder, a finger sliding under the collar of her coat to adjust the way it sat. She had almost considered wearing a revealing top, but pulled back at the last moment. Practicality had won out for that mental battle, as it often did with her. "Though let's keep my arm attached if I need to fight anyone off tonight, hm?"

Well, he had some basic modifications done. But apart from that there wasn't much he particularly wanted that wasn't purely aesthetic. Certainly there was a chance of him getting other things done someday, but frankly he was rather pleased with how his body functioned and looked at the moment. As long as that was true, he didn't see much of a need to fiddle around with it needlessly.
"I'm not entirely sure why you need to find a reason, frankly. You're hardly lacking in funds." He paid her more than well enough to know that. And that wasn't even including her Secret Police pay, which he was sure was plentiful. And he didn't much recall ever telling her she couldn't dress up for the parties she attended with him. So long as she could do her job and didn't draw unnecessary attention he didn't much care what she wore.
"So long as you're not the one I have to fight off, I see no reason why that shouldn't be plausible. Otherwise I make no promises. Try to stay away from the alcohol tonight, if you would." His finger tapped lightly on his knee as he spoke, his gaze looking through the window. Well, they were almost there. "I trust you're ready?"
