The train ride had taken a lot longer than Kendra expected. She didn't expect to have a mission to Heaven's Trap so early in the morning, nor did she expect Uriel to be heading out with her. The company was very much appreciated, however. Much as she loved to run solo, having another pair of eyes made the zones safer. No doubt they'd run into some resistance, though she had no idea just what they might run into. She hoped it would be calm.
A yawn bubbled out of her while she stretched, a hand moving to cover her mouth as their train came to a stop. Sometimes she wondered why the trains ran for so few people, but she supposed it made sense when traveling to the remote parts of their broken world. She wished she could have seen the outside - seen what was left - but there wasn't much reason to dwell on things that had never been possible.
"So, how many samples do you think we need before HQ is satisfied?" She spoke while leaning down to grab her pack under the train seat, pulling it out and putting it on her back. Kendra glanced up towards her partner for the day, giving a slight grin. "Honestly, it seems like a bit of a hassle. Combat division members going out on a resources run... Makes you wonder just how bad it is in here - doesn't it?" Her hands moved over the straps of her pack, pulling them tight so she didn't lose her collection tools.
Once the doors opened to their destination, she stepped outside and allowed her eyes to adjust. What welcomed her was something she could have never imagined. The glow of fauna and crystals nearly took her breath away, the ghostly blue making her chest swell in excitement for what they might discover. In a way, she wished they hadn't been on a job. Exploring just how far the cave went seemed like it could be such a fun thing to do.
"Uriel, are you seeing this? It's amazing. I didn't know something like this could actually exist."
But work first. Play later. She really needed to get out of Novus more often. Maybe Minerva could use some of the things she found. Or Samuel - it might have made for good exchange fodder. Well, she'd just need to gather a few extra specimens. Nothing too hard. She couldn't wait.
