It was slightly frustrating, the way overdosing wracked his body and stole all the air from his chest. He took another steadying breath after explaining himself, trying to regain some semblance of being fine. Teddy knew it annoyed him to speak in a choppy breathless sort of drawl, so he didn't particularly want to subject anyone else to it. Especially someone who had saved his ass.
If the redhead hadn't shown up, would Teddy have been outright killed tonight? ...That was a thought for another day.
Still, violets focused on the other man as he looked away before speaking. The response wasn't an outright denial of what Teddy claimed, but it was quiet and seemed... unsure. It was only a brief period before more words were spoken, something akin of giving him the benefit of the doubt and questioning any potential serious injuries the seated man had.
Pausing to do a quick mental check of his body -- it was really achy and bruised and it still hurt to breathe -- he titled his head. "Not an expert, but..." Carefully, he brought a hand up to place against the spot of his side he got nailed in the side, flinching despite the gentleness of his action. "Hurts like a bitch. Dunno if that's a bruise -- or a fracture or -- what. Can't say I've been hit in the ribs before, like that."
Not pleasant. And getting to a doctor was probably going to be a pain in the ass. Teddy released a breath, running his free hand through his hair. This was frustrating as hell.

There was a noticeable amount of concern on Kyne's face as Sparky brought a hand to where he'd been hit; the look on his face and the way he shied away from even the slightest bit of pressure gave just as much indication of his words that something was definitely wrong there. He seemed to be breathing without a worrying amount of difficulty - he didn't look like he was about to just pass out, at least, so that was... something. He didn't know, though, if anything could be done but it only cemented in the fact that he couldn't just abandon him until he was somewhere safe. Not tonight, not with the way things had been so strange lately.
"I saw how hard you went down, I'm not surprised," he said. Still - if he actually had something broken, that could... be a problem. Kyne didn't want to have him be saved now only for Sparky to get caught in the middle of something else and die or something. Giving the lightningjerk some time to breathe, which he still seemed to have some trouble with, he waited a moment before adding, "I know a guy who could help, if you trust me as far as you can throw me."
A grin was cracked at this. They weren't too far off from the Slums right then, it wouldn't be that long a walk and so long as Sparky could manage that, Kyne was sure Attie could fix him up or at least make sure he wasn't going to keel over or something. This certainly wouldn't be the first time he'd dragged someone to the doctor's home and said 'I found them, fix them up', nor did he really think it would be the last. More importantly, though, the clinic was safe, and technically closer than Kyne's own home which would have also been 'safe' but contained significantly less cute doctors.
"It'll be a bit of a walk, if you got that in you. Unless you've got a place near here or something - mine's a little further, but I'd really suggest laying low for a bit either way." Not only because of the weird goings on - that had been a real flesh and blood person who'd be looking for both of them most likely. Lingering anywhere that wasn't secure was not a great option right now, whoops.

The pain from touching his side didn't go unnoticed, that's for sure. Concern had come to the dragon's features, which made him look so much different than the smug playful asshole Teddy had encountered so far. There was also no doubt in the dragon's voice when he replied to the comment about the pain in his side.
A sigh escaped him as he tried to focus on breathing properly again, for the moment. The symptoms were passing, thankfully, but now that the Magix had completely run its course -- oh man was he aware of just how much his body was unhappy with him. It was, for the most part, just dull throbbing pain as opposed to anything alarming. Except for his side, where the weapon made contact, which was a bit sharper. The redhead spoke up again, though, saying he knew a guy, if Teddy could trust him.
His lips turned up into a smile in an automatic response, although it wasn't as broad as the other's grin. He waited as the other man continued. "Nah, I'd need to get all the way back to the Middle Class... I guess I'll have to trust you, even though I can't put a name to your face -- despite going on a date with you, schnookums." The last bit was said with a lighter tone that made his smile a bit bigger. It's not like he wasn't guilty of the same thing, honestly, and he could make up more dumb nicknames if he really needed to.

If anything, it seemed like Kyne's amusement had rubbed off a little and that was good. The offer wasn't shot down, which was doubly good because Kyne really didn't want to ditch someone injured in the middle of potential trouble even if he did insist or something. Stubborn idiots were horrible to deal with when injured - he would know, he was one.
A laugh fell from his lips at the name he was called though, the grin falling into a lazy, charming smile. "It's Kyne," he said in response to the question, "Though if you want to keep calling me something else feel free. I might just decide to keep calling you lovemuffin, even if you do wanna give me your name."
He realized immediately after speaking that he should probably turn down the jokes; an injury like the other man's was something that wouldn't be very friendly towards laughing. It was good to see that he still had an identifiable sense of humor, though. After a moment he added, with a wink, "And don't worry, I'll keep you safe."
The sentiment was equal parts teasing and sincere. Somehow he didn't think the other would appreciate it much, but ah well, he was going to have a little fun and amusement if he was going to go out of his way to help. It was just kind of how it was and 'honeybunch' was going to have to deal. It was a pretty cheap cost for the help, all things considered, right?
Rocking back on his heels for a moment, he stood up and peeked out the door. Probably shouldn't linger too long, otherwise there might be more eyes in the area than were good for either of them. Still, best to at least let the other man gather himself together and be ready to move, otherwise they'd be in a different kind of trouble altogether by getting caught stopping to rest somewhere out in the open.

Surprisingly, there was no witty remark initially. No, instead, he got a laugh and an incredibly charming smile. That made his eyebrows raise a little, a bit of a flush coming to his cheeks at the way the smile he was given disarmed him. He looked down for a moment, just a little frustrated, letting his hair fall into his face a bit as he suddenly found the plating on the back of his gloves and all their scuffs incredibly interesting.
Kyne. He'd remember it, he knew he would as he glanced back up to look at the redhead. A smile cracked onto his lips again at the comment about continuing to call Teddy lovemuffin, and a small chuckle followed that immediately made him wince and shake his head a little. He parted his lips to speak but Kyne cut him off with a few more words and a wink.
God damn this asshole's winking. The flush from before flared up a little more and he pursed his lips, looking away. "I can take care of..." Words trailed off, and he considered the state he was in. His expression softened a degree as he continued to look away, frowning. "... Thank you."
He knew he didn't have to worry, and he knew Kyne would keep his word. Somehow. Violets finally flickered back onto the other man as he stood, watching him as he peeked out the door. He supposed they'd have to be on their way sooner than later, realistically speaking. It wasn't a good idea to sit around in a place like this with danger lurking in the area -- in, more ways than a single man.
"Teddy, by the way," he noted with a bit of strain in his voice as he slowly rose to his feet, one hand finding the wall behind him to brace against. Muscles ached in protest, not really happy to comply with moving around again just yet but oh well, he'd live. Most likely. "So a date, a hallway rendezvous, and exchanging names, where's that put us -- second base? Weren't you supposed to repay me 'next' time?" he noted with a weak laugh, not entirely serious and mostly trying to dodge around the pain in his side.

Kyne had honestly expected some resistance from the teasing remark about protection and the other seemed to have started with it, but stopped to thank him. This warranted a glance back from where he stood in the doorway - he sounded sincere, despite the frown. He added, "You can keep me safe some other time," with a bit of a smirk, though this time he was clearly just joking around and hoping to keep thoughts off of injuries.
A name was given in response, though, Teddy, which wasn't what he expected but he couldn't really say he'd expected anything specific. He watched the man as he got up and still braced himself against the wall, and tried to keep in mind that Teddy was likely not to be moving very quickly or through anywhere dangerous. Definitely lucky they weren't far off from where Attie's clinic was, then; creative exits were a bit hard with someone who might have a broken rib (or more than one).
Kyne waited to see if he asked for any help, or looked like he wanted it at least, before he offered him a hand or an arm. For now he answered back to the comment about second base, "Well, I could pay you back now orrr I could make you wait and pay you back with interest."
The shitty smirk on his face said he'd probably prefer the latter, but if Teddy wanted a kiss and a slice of cake then he could at least get him the former right now. Kyne figured after the night he seemed to have had, he could probably use both if he wanted them.

The joke that came about keeping Kyne safe some other time was a bit amusing. Is this what their relationship was going to be based upon? One saving the other and then vice versa another time with the cycle repeating? Teddy didn't like getting in trouble, but somehow he didn't completely mind the thought of getting caught up again with the dragon.
Still, though, causing others' trouble wasn't something he liked to make a habit of. He made a point to try and ease himself off the wall, a little bit of weight at a time, before the other man's reply hit him. Violet gaze immediately snapped to attention on Kyne, cheeks flushed and stammering out, "Interest?" Interest? Interest. The only sort of interest make outs could get, as far as he knew, was -- oh. More red stained his cheeks and he took that as a cue to immediately look away.
"Let's just, get out of here already. No need to wait around wasting time," he breathed in attempt to mask the thoughts running through his head that absolutely were not exclusively red velvet cake or kissing anymore, thanks Kyne. Teddy managed to get himself upright with only a palm pressed on the wall, so he took that as as good a sign as any to get moving as soon as possible.

Apparently, Kyne's answer about payment got Teddy's attention almost immediately, turning his head and eliciting a blush from the man.
A bit of a laugh, quiet and mostly to himself, came from Kyne at the red in Teddy's cheeks. Well, he'd gotten a possible interpretation of that correct right away, hadn't he? Getting his face that red was incredibly entertaining, but probably best left for another time considering he'd had a bit of an interesting day so far. Not lingering on how fun it might be to keep going with the half-serious flirting, he watched instead the way the other man moved. He really didn't look like he was any better just from the rest, but... well, if he thought he could do it, he could do it. Kyne wouldn't be opposed to carrying him again if it came to that, anyway.
With that in mind, though, he offered a hand out to Teddy. "Well, if you think you're ready and have expended your bad luck for the day, then yeah - let's go."
He wouldn't be surprised if the offer of a hand or arm to hold onto was passed up, though - stubborn was definitely a way to describe the guy. Regardless of whether it was taken, he lead out of the room, giving the restaurant owner a wave of thanks before stopping at the door. Alright. Amassing all the luck he possessed in his body that maybe asshat from earlier wasn't out there somewhere.

The dragon he'd acquainted himself with was -- he wanted to say frustrating, but relating him to a dragon brought a renewed flush to his cheeks nearly every time. He was a good guy, honestly, just a bit playful and teasing and flirty. Teddy couldn't see him hurting anyone innocent. No, in fact, he was probably one of those assholes who would run in to be a hero at his own expense, wasn't he?
Hadn't he been, tonight?
Maybe that was the reason why, despite the independent and frustrated look he shot Kyne, he took the hand offered to him. He was stubborn, but he wasn't going to snub the other man when he was just trying to help. And it was nice to have something to grip onto as they moved away from the wall. "I'm stuck with you now, I don't know how it could get worse," he commented, but it brought a bit of a smirk to his lips.
Clearly, he wasn't serious. No, they were just going to have this sort of relationship with each other, he decided. It was easy to fall into, as if it were just second nature. Teddy wasn't exactly sure why it seemed that way, but it was comforting to think about, especially with the memory of the beast in the back of his mind. Leaning a little closer, he murmured, "Lead the way."
