[ OUTBREAK : STAGE 1 ]
What the hell was going on?
Teddy pressed against a wall, hand gripped hard at his shoulder and breath shaking. That had been a beast, that had definitely been some strange beast that had attacked him -- but how, really, how could it have been? It couldn't have been a withdrawal symptom or an overdose symptom, no, he was fine that thing came out of nowhere! He just wanted to go home, but somehow he ended up in the complete opposite direction, somehow he'd ended up in Lower Class, but that beast was at least gone now.
Or, at least, he thought. The unnerving sounds at the edge of his hearing every so often made him nervous. He was definitely injured, and maybe he'd gone overboard with the Magix trying to fight off that beast. His breath was thin, but at least the effects were slowly wearing off. He just had to get through this alley and home --
But of course it couldn't be that easy. As soon as Teddy pushed off the wall, moving around the corner and into the alley, he glanced up. Immediately, he noticed a figure standing in his way. Someone he'd seen before, someone he'd seen recently and someone he had nothing to do with -- until now. Taking two steps back, it was clear that the bastard recognized him, too.
His hand shot into his pocket, pulling out another stick of Magix just before narrowly avoiding the swing of some blunt weapon he could barely identify in the dark. No -- no, too dangerous, shouldn't do it -- but it was impossible to break the motion of bringing the Magix to his NUIP port, to reel back before the code was applied and electricity shot through his veins -- too much --
There was no time to catch the breath he'd completely lost before he felt a blow to the side, knocking him to the ground. Still, he managed to find a grip on the weapon before it was pulled away, electricity firing off at his attacker as he shouted a breathless "Stay -- the hell -- away from m-e!"

So, it wasn't that Kyne was exactly an impulsive idiot all of the time, but he had his moments. This was one of them, surely, and he could practically hear Attie scolding him for it as he stalked behind a familiar figure. It was that jackass who'd tailed him a few days before, and though he had no intention of actually fighting him, he did sort of want to see where he was headed and make sure it wasn't into trouble. Some people never learned, right?
It wasn't long after he'd started trailing behind the man that Kyne noticed him stop, seeing something or someone of interest. Huh. That was maybe worrying, especially because he didn't want to get all that close, but he had to at least poke his nose in there and try to see if it was worth trouble, or just noting, or not worth anything at all. Slinking around the corner once the man had rounded it, he peeked just in time to see a second figure go down after being hit.
Wait a second - - that couldn't be - -
A flash of realization took him and he figured it would be more than worth his time to butt in. That was definitely the electric, cake loving, jerk who'd helped him escape recently and was apparently taking some of the brunt of this guy's frustration. Whoops - Kyne guessed that was his fault, too, wasn't it?
Using the element of surprise, he rounded the corner and appeared behind the attacker. He'd been lucky enough to move quickly and just in time for an electrified figure to bounce back from Sparky's use of magix. Kyne couldn't tell if he was hurt at all or not - he'd been taken down but he didn't see any anything worrying at a quick glance. Keeping hope that he wasn't going to be turning this into a one-on-one or that his problems hadn't gotten someone else killed, he grabbed the attacker by the back of his shirt and shoved him against the nearby wall before punching him.
"Now's a good chance to run," he shot back at Sparky in the half a moment the attacker was stunned, hoping he had the sense to do just that. Kyne really didn't want a fight here but if he could at least make an opening he had more than enough means to make a quick getaway for himself.

He hurt, he hurt all over, and sending that fucker reeling with electricity wasn't going to change that. Teddy gripped at his side, because god it felt like too much on top of the other injuries, and the Magix was absolutely plaguing his body now that he'd used it. His breath was so short, he couldn't breathe, it hurt, his chest hurt more than the spot at his side that had been hit with a weapon.
But suddenly he realized the guy wasn't coming back for more, and he looked up just in time to see -- no way, the dragon? -- shove his attacker back. Teddy struggled to his feet, immediately staggering against the near wall and bringing a hand to his throat. Oh no, oh no, the edges of his vision were dark and his head hurt, please no, blackouts were terrifying, especially on top of trouble breathing. He bit his lip, looking over to the redhead.
"Can't, can't r-un -- not -- like this," he managed to choke out, shoulders shaking. "Can't, hah, can't breathe --" Teddy couldn't even focus his attention enough to offer a decent shot of Magix at the asshole who'd taken him down -- and then, at the edge of his hearing, he heard the sounds of the beast from before. As if it wasn't already terrifying enough, his heart jumped in his chest and he turned his head too quickly, shaking trying to grasp for breath even harder than before even though his head was spinning.
No, no, had to get away, how, how? Mind too fuzzy, chest tight, can't get away, please help --

There was a moment where Kyne could afford to look back and see if Sparky was getting up or if he was hurt, and in that moment it became pretty clear that it was the latter. He'd dragged himself up and against the wall but he didn't even need to speak for Kyne to figure he was done for there. The attacker had gathered his shit together by then but Kyne wasn't going to give him a chance.
Before another attack could come he headbutted the man and reached into his bag, grabbing a small bomb. It was going to have to do to be a diversion rather than something that'd actually really hurt the man, but Kyne figured that helping Sparky was a little more important. He... definitely owed him that much, and this was kind of his fault in an indirect sort of way.
As he stepped away he squeezed his eyes shut, the small bomb emitting a bright flash strong enough that he could see it through his eyelids. The ghost of it lingered in his vision as he opened his eyes and moved towards Sparky. Kyne wasn't sure how well he'd take to being literally picked up and carried away but if he couldn't run it was that or die and Kyne knew what he'd prefer.
"I'll get you out of here, hold on - I know a place near by," he said quickly as he stepped in and picked Sparky up, wasting no time in carrying him around the corner and down the street. There was a safe house not even two blocks from here but he needed to get out of sight before they were followed. With any luck, the asshole back in the alleyway would be seeing stars and nothing else for a short while and that should about do it. Not taking any time to look behind himself for now, he darted into another alleyway as a shortcut and just kind of hoped that however Sparky was injured he didn't actually need a doctor or anything - as much as he could patch himself up at least temporarily, if someone was actually fatally injured he was sort of at a loss for how to help.

It was too much to bother focusing on the redhead and their mutual enemy at the moment, considering he was on the verge of losing consciousness and had the most frightening noises in his head. Teddy squinted his eyes shut, hoping that doing away with one of his senses would help to calm down but -- nah, it just made the threat of passing out a little more pulling. It was absolutely disorienting but -- just before he opened his eyes, he caught the traces of a bright flash.
Violets snapping open, he gathered what the dragon did, just before being scooped up from where he stood. I'll get you out of here, hold on. Through shaky half-breaths, Teddy just nodded, opting instead to turn his head against the man's shoulder with one hand going up to the lightning-user's throat again. It was annoying as anything to just be picked up like some helpless child but -- the way his lungs felt urged him to just deal with it.
"Thanks," he offered, but that was the only breathless syllable he could before he coughed, moving his hand from his throat to his mouth. It probably sounded strained and hoarse, and fuck it hurt. It wasn't as if it were the first time he'd overdone it with the Magix, but it was so much worse on top of all of the other injuries he'd gotten in the past hour that he was seriously scared for his life.
For now, he'd just... hope the dragon didn't decide to turn on him.

The way that Sparky's voice sounded stretched was kind of worrying, but all the more reason for Kyne to get a move on things. It didn't sound like they were being chased, though, and with a quick turn of his head he spared a second to look. Nothing, no one - - the streets were thankfully quiet (must have been the weird rumors) and as he cut across a street and around the corner to the back of a small restaurant. Shifting his weight a bit, he realized that knocking on the back door would be a bit tricky with his arms full of bug-zapper (but-zapper who didn't sound like he was doing too well, might he add) and so kicked the door instead. A short knock pattern and after a moment, he said, "Important delivery," and just hoped that someone was around to hear. Usually there was but... well, with other things going on, it was hard to say.
After a second or two there was the sound of shuffling. The door opened, hot smell of a kitchen drifting out into the street and after Kyne noted the familiar face that would recognize him, he shuffled inside.
"You good to stand you think?" he asked, now that there was no need to run and the door was shut behind them. If not, well, he could try and play doctor a little bit, and then maybe see about tracking someone down to help.

Being followed by the other man wasn't even on Teddy's mind. He was far more focused on trying to find his breathe, quietly wishing he'd followed a friend's advice about maybe investing in an inhaler for the sake of messing around with lightning magix. It would definitely help to combat the times where he just couldn't breathe, and his body would probably appreciate the help. Additionally, that eerie beast was prowling the corners of his recent memory, unsettling him and making him uncomfortable without even being near.
Vaguely he identified the dragon sort-of knocking with his foot, but before long they were indoors in what Teddy could only assume was somewhere safe. He uncurled a bit, vision spotty and expression revealing just how disoriented he still felt. Calm down, clam down and breathe, just breathe.
"M-aybe, I, I mean, yeah," he replied quietly, voice still raspy and tight. He could coax himself through this, he'd done it before, the breathing could be -- would be -- handled. Keeping one hand reached out to grip the redhead's arm, even after (if) he was put down, violets fell to the floor. It was so much more illuminated in here, which was good. Shadows snuffed out, the noises that the beast had made seemed to be more or less gone now.
Glancing at the other man, though, bringing his other hand up to run through his hair. "What about, the other injuries -- how -- I mean, not too bad, are they?" His side still ached damn bad, but where the beast had practically torn into his shoulder still stung like a bitch, and he was fairly certain there were other bites and bruises he had to have gained. He just... had to keep his attention on breathing at the moment. At least the Magix was starting to time itself out.

Kyne gave the other man a moment to sort of find his answer, listening as an unsure 'yes' was given before setting him down, though he still held on because he honestly looked like he needed it. Whether he'd had some magix side effects get the best of him or something else was going on, Kyne didn't know - but he wasn't going to abandon him until he knew he wasn't in any danger. Other wounds were mentioned, though even here and now in the brighter light Kyne wasn't sure if he saw anything.
"I'll take a look, let's just get inside," was all that he said for now, leading Sparky a little further inside down the hall and into a side room. It seemed like a small break room for the restaurant's employees, but was fitted with a basement access hatch in the corner of the room under a table as well as the roof access - easy hiding places or escapes. Inside the room, Kyne lead him over to a couch before giving him another look over. Nothing visible was for damn sure, but he seemed to be breathing in a worrying way.
After a moment of thought, he decided against double checking if he thought he was going to be alright and concentrated on what was said otherwise. Other injuries? "Don't see anything worrying, where are you hurt. I mean, I'm no doctor but I can probably patch you together a little if you need."
As he looked at the other young man, it wasn't with any of the cockiness that would have been most of what Sparky would have seen so far; he wasn't, after all, going to ignore the fact that he'd saved him the other day, and the asshat who'd hurt him was kinda Kyne's fault too. Obviously Sparky was at least the enemy of his enemy, as it were, so he wasn't going to worry too much about that.

It seemed for the moment his injuries would have to wait, because they weren't as safe as Teddy had assumed just quite yet. He didn't speak up again yet, though, instead following along with a hand still gripped onto the redhead's arm. Dizzy, still difficult to breathe, why now? Violets fell to the floor as they walked, and he was unable to really focus on his surroundings. For that, he was thankful for the other man's assistance.
After being led to a couch and sitting down, he finally pulled his head up to look at the dragon. As he searched the dragon's face, he was glad enough not to recognize any cockiness there that he'd grown to expect. That was a comfort in itself. But then -- confusion crossed his face at words spoken. Don't see anything? "What, are you blind? I'm definitely, bleeding, from the shoulder, and --" His words fell short as he looked down at the hand that had been gripping his injured shoulder. It was absolutely clean, aside from a bit of dirt from falling to the ground. "...Wh-at?"
Teddy sat up a little straighter, brows furrowing. No, that couldn't be right. He took a moment to take a long, deep breath, before exhaling and glancing back up at the redhead. "Before the, the other guy... I was attacked by... some sort of beast. I-I swear." His eyes revealed how nervous he felt, how much he completely believed in what he was saying.

Kyne watched him as a look flashed over Sparky's face, as if he couldn't quite fathom what was being said. A hand pulled away revealed no blood, though, and he didn't look like anything had been ripped or torn or bloodied. It was possible that he was just bruised or something and just thought he'd been cut but... he seemed a lot more sure that something else had happened. Kyne gave him a minute to take some time to speak and explain himself, but what he said only gave him more to wonder about. Some kind of beast...?
Kyne's gaze fell off of Sparky for a moment; he'd definitely heard rumors going around about 'attacks' and all that, and he seemed fairly genuine about his claim - - maybe this had been the kind of thing Attie had warned him to watch out for?
"I've heard of stranger things," was all he said, quietly and almost to himself. He knelt down, sitting sort of on his heels in front of the other man and wondered what to do. He didn't want to just ditch him here - obviously he was really shaken, obviously something had happened to him because he looked like he'd seen better days. However, Kyne knew the guy who ran this little hideaway and while he was willing to open his door for those he recognized, Kyne somehow got the feeling that he'd be less willing to put up with a stranger. After a moment of thought, he decided not to pry into it too much at the present. "Especially lately, weird shit's going on. Think you broke anything?"
Not that Kyne could fix that but he could dump him off with someone that could help maybe- he'd caught the blow he'd received just as he'd turned the corner and it hadn't been too kind. Hopefully Sparky was just sore and bruised which - although uncomfortable- would fix itself.
