I would like to run a pub. It is by the waterfront, or what used to be the waterfront. It would serve as a hub (as well as a pub) for scavengers, fences, mercenaries, and other unsavory types. I want to be on the ground floor, and open the first Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy. It would be called the Big Black One, a reference to the horse-mascot and the rich dark brews served there. Menu specialties are blackwater (coffee) firewater (distilled gut-rot) and pure water (purified and served cold). What else need I tell yas?

Hi there Pate!
Sorry for the complications, but we just realized it would most likely help us to have a uniform skeleton for people to post up when seeking approval for businesses. We're editing it into the business section and the admin requests sticky right now, so it will be available in the future. But for now if you could fill your request out like this, it'd help us a lot! Thanks again and sorry for the trouble.
Name of Business: Purpose of Business: [ What are you selling? ] Location: [ In which district are you located and where? ] Layout Description: [ what does the business look like? ] Other: [ any other information that might be needed! ]

Name of Business: The Big Black One Inn & Public House
Purpose of Business: Beverages (Inc. home-brewed beer & liquor, purified water available on request), food (pub fare, with special dinners on holidays). Some rooms to rent. Live music when performers can be found, although I doubt there'll be any shortage in this town.
Location: Lower Class District, where the waterfront used to be back before the bay dried up. On the corner of Longshore Road and Duskin Street, to be specific. Excellent corner location, with a wood & brick facade over a duracrete frame. Has a wooden sign out front, of a black stallion sitting at a table and trying to flag a waiter down. Front porch with rocking-chairs and ashtrays.
Layout Description: Rustic interior, with rough stone floor. Predominate colors are browns and grays, earthy or maybe Western colors. Inexpensive metal tables and chairs which wobble just a bit. Bar is polished black marble, older than the city of Novus itself, and the only really nice thing in the place. Lit by light from the surprisingly big windows until sunset. After there is a brick fireplace and some incandescent lights. Behind the bar is a well-stocked liquor cabinet, refrigerator and glacial precipitator, a dozen taps, thousands of glasses and mugs, and an assortment of odds and ends acquired over a dozen lifetimes. Notables include a sloop in a bottle and a locked box with a bird-globe-and-anchor symbol, the meaning of which has been lost in the depths of time. Under the bar is a oven and a small grill, and a double-barrel over-under 10 ga. shotgun, to deter troublemakers. Door behind the bar leads to the still and barrels, behind that is Tab's small home and a back lot where he tinkers. Stairs to the left of the entrance lead to a balcony, with some more tables and a corridor to five bedrooms. Each has a bed, table and a wall-safe.
Other: Legal establishment, with all licenses and papers in order and all relevant taxes paid. Accepts hard currencies & bartered goods with few questions asked, and has been known to shelter miscellaneous vagabonds. Police typically turn a blind eye because Tab is quiet, pays his taxes, and doesn't tolerate openly seditious talk in the common-room.

Hey Pate! A few comments on your business. - So Novus does not actually have any area that used to be a bay. It is an entirely contained city within a dome, and all weather and environment is built by and controlled by the government. There is not really any kind of desert area within the city, except possibly in the BioDome which is Upper Class and mostly for recreation ;v;
- While it is fine for him to accept money in physical form as that is accepted in reDUX ( although if you haven't read the tech info page I recommend doing so to make sure you understand how it works ), he can't be known to shelter vagabonds. Novus is essentially a totalitarian government, with vigilantes being viewed by the state as terrorists. Any police, secret or otherwise, would report him, and any officers found not to have reported him would be severely punished as well. He can shelter vigilantes in a backroom or something certainly, but it can't be public knowledge or he would face persecution via the police.
- Given the extremely modern layout of the city, an entirely brick and wooden house would be incredibly abnormal. Wood isn't really readily available, and most places are made out of metal. Wood is more of a high class material due to its rarity and would be incredibly expensive. You also mentioned that his counter is older than Novus itself, but everything in Novus was in fact built there after its conception. There are no outside materials in Novus, and to be older than the city the counter would also have to be roughly 500-600 years old at the very least.
If you would like to edit these traits and then repost your proposal, we can take another look at it! If you have any other questions feel free to ask them here or pm us.

Police typically turn a blind eye because Tab is quiet, pays his taxes, and doesn't tolerate openly seditious talk in the common-room. Justification: Tab is a gruff old man with infrequent charitable impulses, but he knows the score and does not care to have his business seized or be executed. So he does not serve known vigilantes or allow openly seditious talk in the common-room, as I specified. The business does have a street-rep as a place for kids to hide until a storm blows over, but less from the SecPol and more from bigger kids and thugs. Does this clarification satisfy?

Tab Bachman (sunnybutt)That sounds good, the clarification about the type of people he shelters is very helpful. Only other comment left is that you still have the counter listed as older than Novus, which as we've said is unfortunately not possible. Would you be okay with having it be around 200-300 years old? That still makes it very old and vintage but keeps it within the restraints of the city's creation and how it functions. Fix that up and post it here for one last review and you should be good.

Edit made. Aye, and an official opening will be very nice.
