A gentle breeze blew over the rooftops, fluttering softly through turquoise locks. Several stories below exhausted workers were greeting each other for the night. Some going home, others signing in for their nightshifts. None aware of the lone figure staring down at them, half of their face covered by a silver eyeless mask and mouth seemingly set in an eternal grin.
Tonight’s weather was perfect! Cloudy, dark and cold. People didn’t want to be out during this time of the year. Guards would be moody and tended to slack ever so slightly on their patrols, wanting to get back inside as soon as possible and rather trusting their cameras than their eyes. All of which would work in her favour. The grin widened slightly before dropping completely along with the figure on the roof.
A story lower, on a ridge that connected the two buildings, Juno crouched hidden in the dark of the shadows. Hands rushed over two distinct devices on her lower arms, checking and double checking their straps and functionality before moving up to readjust her mask and pull up her hood. Her hands then moved to the sword on her back, checking the magnetic strips that held it securely to her suit and nodded. All in place.
This warehouse stored several high quality Magix, enough to fill her own stash and sell – not that her stash needed anymore filing, but a girl needed to be prepared or perhaps purrpared? She snickered softly at her own pun. It was guarded both by man and machine, all of which programmed to shoot first and ask questions later. Nothing she hadn’t dealt with before.
Juno reached down and nimbly lowered herself on a windowsill. From there she moved ever so quietly further and further towards the alley between the two buildings. Making sure to stay in the nearby camera’s blind spot, Juno moved to the end of the alley then with a few quick taps on her right arm device activated her cloaking shield. Staying near the shadows she made her way towards the warehouse, taking the first chance she got to climb up to the roof. Her foot hit the surface a little too hard, making a nearby guard turn in response weapon raised in front of him. Juno froze, a singly drop of sweat sliding down her temple – she only had seconds left to work with! Luckily the cloak did its job and the guard, after looking left and right, shrugged and continued his patrol.
Sighing in relief, the thief continued to make her way up the building, staying low as the cloak shimmered and she faded back into view. Once up on the warehouse’s roof she saw it was mostly made out of thickened glass and sturdy iron beams. “Oh bugger…well ain’t that just fine and dandy. Let’s make the roof from glass hurrhurr great idea, Johnsson, it’s not like anyone will dare to come up there much less steal anything,” she muttered under breaths while taking the sword from her back. With a click the weapon came to life, buzzing slightly as the high frequencies travelled through the blade. Still mumbling sarcasm and insult, Juno position the blade downwards and turned in one swift motion, cutting a near perfect circle around her.
The glass gave almost immediately, making her land on one of the beams with a soft thud while at the same time using her reaction speed to grab hold of the circle. Deactivating the sword first and placing it back on the strips on her back, Juno reached in her pack for some novi-gel and used it to stick the glass circle to the beam. Then she looked down and swallowed. That was a long, long drop alright.

Drones patrolled the eastern yard of the warehouse, hovering roughly two meters above the ground, bobbing up and down as if being rocked by waves. Their camera eyes swiveled left and right, and their guns hung out of their spherical bottoms, ready to fire at a moment's notice. There were at least six of the little death machines making rounds and scanning every inch of the yard.
And maybe if any of them had been human, Isaac would have been scared.
Up on a nearby rooftop, Isaac perched himself like a gargoyle, watching the drones. His visor's camera filter let him see the drones' lines of sight—long red cones almost like headlights. Though the drones constantly moved and watched out for each other, their patterns were predictable, and after only five minutes of watching, Isaac was ready to strike.
Isaac climbed down from the roof with grace, almost swinging from windowsill to windowsill, descending in a zigzag pattern that was both swift and silent. Once he hit the ground, he darted behind a huge stack of pipes and crouched in the shadows. A drone passed him by, and just as he had expected, it turned away from him first, steadily scanning to the left before coming back around to the right. Before the drone's narrow view could spot anything, though, Isaac drew his hacking handheld out from his jacket pocket. At such close range, even he couldn't miss as he fired a dart into the drone's body. The dart clung to the metal surface, and its base glowed a dim blue color, letting Isaac know he was in range. With a press of a button on his handheld, Isaac hacked the drone's camera, looping its footage from thirty seconds ago. Even when the drone finally turned right and looked at Isaac, it could see nothing but old, empty footage.
Now that one drone was blind to him, Isaac checked the drone behind that one, and once its vision was pointed elsewhere, Isaac sprinted across the yard and scaled the warehouse wall, making his way up to one of the windows on the side. The glass roof was begging for trouble, really. If anyone noticed a sudden shadow on the ground, what would normally be a clever entrance would become a death sentence. It all depended on lucky, really—something Isaac tried to avoid.
Through the window, Isaac could see the guards patrolling inside the warehouse. There was a mix of robots and humans, and although there was a good deal of them, they were scattered throughout the massive building. None of them seemed to watch the side door just below Isaac's window, so once the drones made their rounds again, and they all turned away from Isaac, he dropped back down to the ground, hacked the door, and crept inside. The guards had just changed shifts, and the glass roof filled the warehouse with starlight, so no one would think twice or even notice light coming in through the door.

Juno had no idea how she managed to get to ground level, but she wasn't about to complain. Maybe it was the cat genes? Well, she hoped she'd be able to get back up again. After all this was her planned route for tonight's heist and she really did not feel like improvising.
Booting up her hacking device, Juno took a quick glance at the building's blueprints and guard routes. It still amazed her she'd actually managed to get her hands on them - even if they'd cost a small fortune. Long live the black market eh? Breathing out softly, the thief scanned her surroundings. At approximately 10 seconds a guard bot would come to scan the room and 3.5 minutes after that a guard would also make their rounds. Keeping the maps open, Juno activated her cloak and rushed out of the room in the opposite direction of the guard bot. Looking over her shoulder she already see and hear the bot approaching.
In the 20 seconds her cloak gave her, she navigated the set route on her map and ended in one of the small storage rooms. Kicking off against the wall, Juno held on to the door post, using it as leverage point while firmly placing both feet against the opposite wall. Just high enough to stay out of the bot's scan.
Now their were two possible routes to take: through the halls while staying in front of the guards or through the vents with the risk of getting stuck. Holding her weight on one arm, she used her nose to tap on the screen of her bracer. The most logical option would be to take the halls, but the vents were the safest and quickest, plus they were connected to the storage room she currently found herself in, which was exactly why she chose them in the first place. These vents would lead to one of the sub store rooms, one that was closer to her destination.
With another tap she closed the screen and dropped to the floor, from there she managed to open the iron roster and access the vents.

Isaac was swift and silent with the door, closing it quietly behind him before any of the guards or drones could catch him. It was a bit of a nightmare walking into a place like this without his infrared filter, but the drones didn't give off much heat, and trying to see them with that filter was damn near impossible. At least the cameras wouldn't be a problem.
The warehouse was full of swiveling cameras, though they all moved routinely. And given how the drones were all patrolling such faultless routes, it was clear there was no on-site operator. Every machine would be slow and predictable. Good.
The humans, however…
A flashlight shined down the row of shelves where Isaac stood. Isaac dove into the shelving unit, hiding in a gap between two boxes. The light moved to the door, inspecting it for just a moment, before it flicked off to the side. Footsteps of a distant guard grew quieter as it made his rounds up and down the aisles of inventory. Isaac didn't wait long to crawl out of his hiding spot. Once the aisle to his right had gotten a moment of attention, Isaac slipped out and moved down the row until he was at the intersection of two aisles. He looked left and saw the guard moving along, swinging his flashlight left and right. To Isaac's right, there was no one. Isaac stayed behind this one guard, making his way across this side of the warehouse quickly and cleanly.
Once Isaac and the guard reached the end of the room, Isaac slipped past the guard and moved for a door nearby. Just like before, he slipped through the door without making a sound, and he found himself in a carpeted hallway. The warehouse itself was massive, and the building clearly did more than just house big containers of chemicals and powders. The actual finished products—the Magix sticks—were stored and shipped out of here as well. Where they were in this building, however, Isaac wasn't sure. He crept down the hall, his eyes darting in every direction for signs of guards and drones. And maybe, with any luck, he could find a command room to try and hack into.

The vents were a horrible idea! They were dusty, narrow and bloody uncomfortable! Juno could only hope no one decided that tonight was an excellent night for blowing them out. Why did she have to think about that? Why now, lying on her stomach, dragging herself forward at a painstakingly slow pace. If they blew out the vent now, she be toast and depending on the force and strength of the rosters that might even be quite literally. She shuddered, speeding up ever so slightly without making to much sound - thumping in the vents usually was quite common in large buildings like these.
Luckily - and really it was the only bright side - the vents had several rosters over the ceiling from which she could peek down. At the pace she was going, it would take another 3-4 minutes to reach her destination and so far none of the guard suspected a thing. Heists like these were just too precious! Heh, I'll be in and out of here before anyone'll notice anything is missing, brilliant!
That's when she spotted an anomaly, a brief encounter which would have been missed, if not for the rosters. Juno froze, eyes wide in disbelief behind the mask. Oh no, no, no, no! No way another thief decided to just sneak in and steal her haul! Nothing to do about it now though. Making a ruckus would give away her position, so all she could do was hope the guy would either get caught or give up. The latter being highly improbable. Guess we'll just have to sort this out the 'civil' way. A grin spread over her face as she moved on to the next roster and waited for the guard below to pass.
Once at her destination Juno carefully removed one of the rosters and silently lowered herself into the room below. It was a slightly high drop, but nothing she couldn't handle, again: thank you gene-mods.
Like the blueprints showed, she found herself once again in a store room, but closer to the magix storage - at least that was what she hoped. Sometimes blueprints could be a tad bit outdated. Either way now was not the time to think about such matters, this heist suddenly changed into a race! Especially if she wanted to get her fair share.

It was true that vents, especially in big buildings full of chemicals, made noise quite frequently. Isaac was so used to the noise that it hadn't spooked him in years. It was a mild irritation, as it masked far more important sounds, but nothing to be concerned with.
However, something seemed off.
Isaac knelt down behind a water cooler, and he listened to the sounds above him. The sound… it was irregular, and it traveled slowly. At first, it seemed to be right above him, and it could have been a thumping convector on the next floor, but the sound gradually drifted away, moving down the hall.
A bit hesitant, Isaac checked the hall for cameras or drones before switching his visor's filter. The system was cool and ready to make the switch, and soon enough, Isaac could see the heat around him. The world became deep blue mixed with wavering lines of green, distant blobs of orange and red—the guards back in the main storage room. But when Isaac raised his head and looked to the vents, he found a much larger, much closer figure of amorphous color.
This is getting ridiculous.
Based on the figure, it seemed like a woman, though considering a certain "assassin" he knew, Isaac couldn't know for sure, not yet. The figure paused at one point, and when Isaac lowered his visor to the tip of his nose, he could see that a grate was near the figure's head. Had it seen him? Isaac gritted his teeth beneath his bandana, and again when he saw a guard step into the hall.
While the guard thankfully went away from Isaac, moving across the hall and possibly into a break room—indicated by the way the man patted his stomach and licked his lips—the figure in the vents was no doubt moving closer and closer to the prize. Shit.
Isaac needed to wait. He couldn't safely move through a warehouse this secure with his infrared filter. Drones and cameras could be anywhere. While vents were safe enough, Isaac's shoulders were too broad to fit in them anymore. All he could do for now was watch the slippery figure from his hiding spot. At least he would be able to see where they went and maybe have an idea of where to get the magic sticks… if any were left by the time he could get there.
