Isaac stayed low and out of sight. He moved as quickly as he could while remaining crouched along the ground. The thugs seemed to enjoy talking—either to terrify their prey or make them simply pay to shut them up. Their taunting gave Isaac plenty of time to sneak up on them. The one in the middle of the group—a man—was the first to pull out a knife. Choking him out wasn’t an option, not unless Isaac wanted a knife buried in his skull.
Plan B, then.
As the laughter stopped and blood started flying, Isaac rose up behind the center man. He looped one arm up under the man’s pit, while he grasped the man’s wrist with his other hand. Before the man even knew what was happening, Isaac swung up his knee and pulled the man’s arm down, shattering his elbow with a sickening crack. The man screamed and dropped his knife, which Isaac scooped up and waved at the four other thugs as they turned around.
“What the fuck?!” shouted one of the women.
“You’ve got one chance,” said Isaac, his eyes darting around to the rest of the crew, watching them. “Make the smart choice.”
No one could say Isaac didn’t give them a fair chance, but he knew they wouldn’t take it. They all rushed him at once, ignoring the “scared little girl” in favor of stabbing Isaac full of holes. Arms reached out to grab him, and knives rose up. But before either could reach him, Isaac dashed for a wall, ran up along it for about three meters, kicked off, and flew for one of the knife-wielding women. She yelped when he suddenly came at her, and before she could react, Isaac planted a foot against her throat, driving her down to the ground. Isaac then stomped on her wrist, making her drop her knife. And before the other three could understand what all had happened, Isaac slid the knife with his foot, sending it skipping across the ground and right in front of the graffiti girl.

Turned out the opening she was waiting for came from behind the group when suddenly her agonizer was pulled back. Silver eyes widened in awe as the snapping sound of bone, followed by a painful holler resonated through the area. Was someone helping her? In this part of Novus?
The exclamation of the woman snapped her back to reality and to the familiar voice which followed with a warning soon after. If possible her eyes widened even more. That's the blood-smelly guy! Riley was happy to see him doing all right, though she now understood that if he pulled heroic things like this why he got hurt in the first place. Especially now that everyone in the group of misfits had turned their attention to him, knives at the ready and rage showing on their faces.
Part of her thought of it as the perfect opportunity to run. Make sure she got back safe and sound and be able to patch herself up before her father found out. Riley sometimes wished she was that kind of person.
As it was, she was the kind that dove for the knife and proceeded to bury it deep into the closest man's arm while ducking underneath someone's flailing. Another screech of pain filled the air, but Riley was quick to move from her target to the next, holding the knife in a reverse grip while going for one of the women. No mercy, she had learned how to deal with these people in her time with the police. Taking them out of commission was the priority here.
The woman noticed her just in time to block the first strike and despite herself Riley smirked. "Heh, so you know how to wield that? impressive..." Riley muttered dangerously low, watching how the woman's eyes widened when she let pulled her own knife from the block and let it slid past her upper arm. A flesh-wound was a small price to pay, especially when she managed to to dance another her and return the favour. The woman yelped, but instead of attacking again decided to run for it. Hn, that was...not entirely unexpected.

If Isaac hadn't caught the thugs by surprise, and if they hadn't been weak, scrawny slum dogs, he wouldn't have stood a chance against these numbers. This was how Isaac had gotten beaten as a child—picking fights with groups of kids far bigger than him. But tonight, with the graffiti girl pulling her own weight, he held his own.
The last of the men—the only one without a broken or stabbed arm—came at Isaac with nothing but his bare fists and an angry and terrified scowl. Isaac flipped the knife around in his hand, but the man didn't stop. He charged, reaching out his hands to try and take the knife. But Isaac pulled his arm away, twisting his body to spin around the man. All the thug managed to do was smack up against the wall of the warehouse like a confused rhino. Isaac raised his knife, having a perfect shot on the man's shoulder blade… but he hesitated. His hand remained tight around the knife, but he held back his strike.
Then, in a barbaric, sloppy move, the thug pushed off the wall and swept his arm through the air. Bone met bone as the man's thin arm hit Isaac's elbow, causing the knife to fly out of his hand. Isaac grimaced, and he watched the thug's eyes flash to the fallen knife. Isaac turned his body with the blow he'd taken, spinning around until he could mule kick the thug in the side of the jaw, rattling his brain and knocking him out cold.
With a groan, Isaac looked back to the graffiti girl. She had a cut along her arm, but otherwise she seemed fine. Isaac's breath caught in his throat, however, when he saw the girl's opponent run through the alley, escaping the fight. Isaac jerked forward, about to give chase, but he soon saw the man with a stab wound run down a second alley. Behind him, Isaac heard more footsteps, and he glanced back to see the woman he had kicked in the throat rise to her feet and flee down the third and final alley. Only the unconscious man and the one with a broken arm remained. With three thugs on the run, Isaac knew there was nothing he could do, so he sighed. He went to the knife he had used and wiped the handle with his jacket, cleaning off his fingerprints.
From there, he turned to the graffiti girl, and he said, "We need to go. They'll be back with more men." Honestly, Isaac had no idea if that was true. That might have been the extent of the group, but he had seen this happen too many times before. So often, he had fought one or two people and come out on top, only to get crushed by the whole gang.
"Do you know anywhere safe to hide?"

Not long after the woman fled, the man with the broken arm followed, dashing off in another direction. Riley looked on as he and his comrades fled in different direction. They needed to move. She heard about these kinds of people, fleeing and then returning to finish the job with twice as many people. Such a hassle really. Had she been with a squad she'd given chase, but as it was she only had the bloody-smelly acrobat. Next time she'd bring a weapon; her the storage counter wouldn't miss one anyway.
Isaac soon spoke out her thoughts and she nodded in response to his question even if she'd rather not stick around for too long, it would not be possible to make it back before they returned with reinforcements. "Yeah...I know a spot." Instead of taking to the roofs, Riley calmly walked over to the warehouse and spared herself a moment to sigh before connecting the MFB to the warehouse's security lock. She doubted anyone else could hack into the company's system so easily, but with what little time they had they needed some...drastic measures. Heh, never thought I'd be breaking into our own buildings though...
Bypassing several security locks with relative ease - and silently thanking her father for making her sit through those lessons - the panel clicked and turned green, lighting her face in an eerie hue as the large door rolled open quietly. Pulling the wire free, Riley waved Isaac over and hurriedly stepped inside and hid behind some crates out of the camera's view. She had been to Calhoun Corp.'s warehouses plenty of times so guessing where the cameras were didn't take a genius.
Once inside, another soft click came from the panel and a few moments later the door slid shut as if nothing had disturbed it in the first place. With the door closed they were in near complete darkness, though once she removed the goggles Riley had no trouble seeing. Rubbing her face and immediately regretting it, she carefully peeked from behind the stacked crates. They were about ten feet away from the nearest camera, but the crates blocked them and she had made sure to buy them some time by looping the three nearest cameras through the system. Even when the loop stopped in about three minutes they were safe in a blind spot.
Relief finally was allowed to flood over her as she slid down the crates. Her face hurt, her arm even more so, but none of it was permanent and definitely not something some Novi-gel couldn't fix. She had been lucky, very, very lucky.
Looking up at Isaac she sighed and muttered: "And so we meet again...thanks...for helping out there."

Isaac twitched when the girl led him inside the Calhoun warehouse. He couldn’t be seen with her, not in a place like this. Neither of them were meant to be here.
But the girl knew what she was doing. Isaac spotted the cameras around the warehouse, and the girl moved perfectly to avoid them. He followed close behind, feigning ignorance of the cameras at this point as he just kept his eyes on her rainbow hair, moving with her until they reached a series of crates. The door to the warehouse shut, and Isaac couldn’t see a thing. He wanted to pull out his visor to at least see the cameras’ vision or maybe the girl’s thermal image, but he kept the visor in his pocket and simply sat down behind the crates.
When the girl spoke, Isaac followed the sound of her voice to look at her—just barely making out her face in the darkness. His eyes would adjust eventually, but not as quickly as hers.
“No problem,” he said, keeping his voice down. With a sigh of his own, Isaac felt a good deal of stress wash out of his body. His head felt light for a moment and dropped down, and his shoulders slacked forward before he rolled himself back up. “You chose a good spot. Even if they had any hope of getting in here, they’d expect us to have run off somewhere else. We should give them an hour to give up the chase before we head back out.”
As Isaac’s eyes steadily adjusted, he looked down to the girl’s injured arm. He couldn’t make out the damage, so he asked, “How’s your arm? I don’t have any Novi-gel, but I could wrap it up if you need me to.”

Riley nodded at his suggestion to wait, but then realized he probably couldn't see her and instead made an affirmative sound. Her her softly thudded against the crates as she silently started to search her hip bag for something to fix her arm with. Turned out that besides a weapon she had also forgotten to restock on essential supplies, like Novi-gel.
“How’s your arm? I don’t have any Novi-gel, but I could wrap it up if you need me to.”
Another sigh.
"Yeah, I'm out too, so that would be awesome, thank you..." she half mumbled while shifting so that her wounded arm faced him. "Are you able to see, thou-" The question was cut off when a loud banging came from outside followed by voices. Seemed like the thugs had returned and started their search while shouting obscenities and howling with laughter. They had no idea their targets were hidden only a few feet from them.
Riley snickered softly as their footsteps faded off into the distance. "Heh, idiots...anyway thanks again for helping, but why? I mean you let me go a while ago and to be honest I didn't expect ever seeing you again...so -er- why?"
For a while now she wondered about Isaac's motives. From the first time they met and now again when saving her. Was he simply trying to do the 'right thing? Or...she tensed slightly at the thought. Had he somehow figured out who she was and planned to kidnap her? Riley shook her head. Somehow that thought seemed ridiculous. After all, why would he hand her a weapon if he planned something sinister? Plus, she had been careful. Even if he somehow linked her to Calhoun corp. she had never said her name and if he somehow possessed a scanner he'd only come up with a fake ID. No, there remained no reason to panic. They were safe for now and if worse came to worse she'd trigger the warehouse's alarm.

Isaac stayed silent when he heard the voices outside, and he shook his head at their pointless efforts. People like them truly were predictable. Not only did they come back like he had expected, but they failed to think outside the box, as they soon moved on to try and find the two elsewhere.
Once they were gone, the girl spoke up, asking Isaac questions. “Well,” he started, sounding as if everything seemed so obvious. “I couldn’t just let somebody get mugged or killed.” As he spoke, he held up a hand and pointed his fingers at the girl’s very visible eyes. From there, he slid his hand down through the air and estimated where her arm was. Sure enough, when he reached out, he found it. His touch was gentle, and with one hand he held out her bloody arm, while the other reached up to his neck and untied his bandana. Isaac wrapped the cotton cloth around her arm, pulling it tight to put pressure on the wound. “There. That’ll help until you get some gel.”
He then sat back against the crate, and he looked around in the darkness, slowly but surely making out more of his surroundings. Based on how many times the girl had asked “why,” he was pretty sure she wanted a longer answer, so he continued, “I helped you tonight because you were in trouble—simple as that. And I let you go the other night because I couldn’t care less about a little graffiti. It’s not like it was hurting anyone.” Even if it had, another can of paint would have cleared that right up, but Isaac kept that to himself.
“Any other questions? We’ve got time to kill.”

Riley flinched when he pulled the cotton tight around the wound, but other than that stayed silent. When he finished she slowly stretched her arm, moving it up into the air then to the side and rotating it slightly. The sting was gone, the make-shift bandage would certainly last until she got home to treat it properly. Though treating it properly would only consist out of slapping some Novi-gel on it and making sure no one noticed.
With a small smile she leaned back against the crates while listening to Isaac's explanation. Something told her it wasn't as simple as he made it seem, but for now Riley found she didn't care. He had helped her when she was in trouble and that was enough. So she shook her head and then quickly added: "No, I'm quite fine, just glad to see someone out there doesn't get all riled up over some paint. I am curious though, what were you doing out here? On some kind of secret mission?" The grin found its way back to her face as wild stories started to unfold in her head. She had no idea who Isaac was or what he did in his daily life, but it was quite articular he was out so late...not that she had much to say about that. Riley knew that comparing the both of them she'd seem just as sketchy.
Sorry for the long wait QvQ)/

This was a question Isaac had been expecting for a while—from the very moment he had jumped down into the alley. He had had a good bit of time to come up with an answer, the problem was picking one he liked out of the many he could make. For a man who lived a life of crime, Isaac was a pretty terrible liar. If Dante didn't trust him so much or have the most gullible mind on the planet, Isaac would have been found out years ago. That was why Isaac always stuck to half-truths. It was easy for him to tell the truth but leave out details or spin things to make what many would consider to be a lie.
Here, he had nothing. There was nothing he could spin out of the truth that wouldn't give him away or make the girl press him for more. She would figure him out if he omitted the truth, and so he tried something different.
"Nothing as cool as what you're thinking," he said with a wry smile. "I was just out. I used to live in the Middle Class until I was eight. My old house is about three blocks from here." He pointed to the west—knowing which way it was despite the darkness. "A big yellow house by a park. Sometimes I like to go there and look at it, but whenever the owner sees me he threatens to call the cops, so I go out at night." Every word he said was a fact, but it wasn't the truth. Isaac did go out to stare at his old house, and the owner had recognized Isaac's blue hair long ago and knew who he was, so Isaac went out at night. The only falsehood was that Isaac hadn't been there tonight, but he hoped his lie would be convincing. And maybe, if he was lucky, he could gain some sympathy from this girl if she kept asking him questions. If a sad story wore her down, he could perhaps get some answers out of her.

Riley was taken aback by his answer. He used to...live here? Instinctively she followed his pointed finger, eyes staring at the warehouse's metal wall like she could actually see the house he spoke of. "Used to..." she muttered, her gaze casting down to stare at open hands lying idly in her lap. Her mother used to live in Upper Class too, before... Riley shook her head as if trying to shake out the bad thoughts.
"I'm sorry..." was all she could say. She shouldn't have asked. Resting her head against the crates, Riley focused on the sounds outside. If she listened very carefully, she could still hear the thugs thrashing around, banging metal against metal. They scared her, even if she laughed and played tough, they scared her, people scared her. Glancing st Isaac she realized just how lucky she had been he decided to visit his old home tonight of all nights.
Then a thought came to the surface or better said something she was a little curious about. "Don't you ever long to go back? I mean, both you and Dante seems clever enough to Test out of Lower Class...c-can't you? You're both of age right?"
It was the thought Riley felt most Upper Class people had in their minds, 'why not retake the test and test higher? why not work harder?'. She knew it wasn't that simple; at some point people simply couldn't go higher, but the brothers both were athletic and from the way Isaac acted she doubted he wasn't bright. Couldn't they retake and go back? Or didn't they want to leave their family? Riley felt her cheeks heat up with shame at the thought, she didn't retake the Test either when her mother fell back to Lower Class. In all honesty it hadn't even crossed her mind, thinking instead shed be of more help where she was. But was that the truth? Wasn't she just comfortable remaining in the mansion under her grandfather's rule? Simply pretending to make a difference?
"Ugh- forget I said anything...that was probably rude and insensitive, sorry...again," she sighed, leaning forward after pulling her knees up, and resting against them. She really should just keep her mouth shut.
