Taylor leaned back on the stone bench thoroughly enjoying the warmth of the artificial sun. A rather old looking camera rested in her lap, it was about the size of her hand and the once gleaming coating was damaged in several placed, but it worked well despite needing a serious upgrade. Though at the moment Taylor couldn't care less. She loved it just the way it was, simple. It could either send the photos to the cloud database of her home or develop them instantly. That was the function she liked most.
Smiling, the brunette tilted the camera back and forth, eyes closed while taking deep breaths and listening to the rustle of leaves. There were still a few warm days left and she was sure to spend all of them outside. For that exact reason she had chosen the park. Parks had trees, plants, wild life and people, they were perfect! Perfect and tranquil; even when it rained she usually found herself in the park.
Today however Taylor actually came to the park for a reason. A client wanted some pictures of 'brightly coloured flowers' and 'exotic fauna'. A grin spread over her face, she doubted the second one could be found in a park, but hey, she wasn't going to just dismiss it.
Leaning back even further and swinging her legs back and forth, Taylor took hold of the camera and pointed it at the leaves above her while looking through the viewfinder. She'd had to get moving soon. So, breathing out softly she stood up with a slight skip in her step and turned to a patch of flowers directly behind the bench. Kneeling down she focused in on the brightest and waited, for what she didn't know, but maybe she'd be lucky and a sweet bumblebee decided to land on it.

A big yellow house on the edge of a park. It didn't seem that big to Dante. It had two floors, but it wasn't very broad. It was more of a townhouse, really. The yard was small and torn up. There weren't even flowers by the windows or the rod iron fence. He didn't remember the fence at all, come to think of it. He didn't remember the garage, either. Wasn't that supposed to be a play room? He wasn't sure. If Isaac hadn't told him again and again that this was their old house, Dante never would have believed it.
Why can't I remember any of it? he wondered. I was four. Isn't that old enough? I remember other stuff. Dante looked straight down to the jungle gym below him. Kids were playing and laughing, climbing up the iron bars. One of them even shouted that he was king of the castle as he stood at the very top before his mother pulled him down. A few screams of joy came from the slides and the actual playground castle, where kids were climbing over each other and showing off to their parents. Dante's eyes soon fell upon the monkey bars. They seemed so tiny now, but he remembered being terrified of them when he was a kid. He had sat on his brother's shoulders, but even then the bars had seemed to be a mile over his head. Dante snorted, remembering how he'd begged Isaac to put him down and how he'd cried.
His sorrowful blue eyes fell back to the house. Crying… That was all he remembered of that place. He couldn't remember what the house looked like. In his head, all he could see was the front yard, his dad holding him and Isaac close, and tears. Dante could almost feel them on his cheeks now.
This wasn't working. Crying was all he could think about.
Dante slid forward along the branch until he fell down to the ground. A few kids gasped at his graceful landing, and they asked him how he had gotten up there, but Dante just smiled and waved them off, heading across the park with his hands in his pockets and his eyes at his feet. Trips to this park always seemed to end like this for him. Why couldn't he remember a happier time? Why couldn't he remember what the house looked like before? Dante kept asking himself these questions, his focus so narrowed on his thoughts that he didn't even realize he was walking right in front of someone's camera.

She had been waiting for a while, but finally a beautifully coloured butterfly decided to land on the flower, its wings fluttering as it started drinking. Taylor remained perfectly still, head tilting slightly to get the best angle, finger softly tapping the button of her camera. Almost, almost, she just needed to wait until its wings opened one more time...aaaand click!
The camera flashed just a a pair of legs appeared before it, leaving Taylor frozen in place as the photo - now showing a pair of legs - smoothly rolled out of her camera and the butterfly took off in a flurry on brightly coloured wing. Blinking slowly, once then twice, the brunette slowly looked up to see who own said legs. He didn't seem very old and really she wasn't upset even if a single eyebrow slightly curved up.
"Ah well...can't shoot them all. Do be careful where you land good sir," she said, giving a slight nod and storing the photo away in her bag. Then she stood up dusted off a few grass-blades and looked around. Where could she possibly find a new target? The park was reasonably big, but despite being familiar with it she had no idea where to find what her client requested.
"Oh bummer," she mumbled, rubbing the back of her head while looking left and right. It might end up to be not so easy after all.

A flash of light stung Dante's left eye. He stopped where he was and looked over to see what had happened. He found a woman with long, braided brown hair kneeling on the ground, holding a camera and looking up at him.
"Eh?" he mumbled, looking down at her camera, then to his feet, then to the flowers just to his right. A butterfly fluttered past his face, and Dante slowly put everything together.
With a sudden jerk of his body, Dante gasped and turned back to the woman, saying, "Oh crap! I'm sorry. I didn't see you were taking a picture." He sounded as if he had just crushed someone's hopes and dreams as he pleaded for forgiveness. As if it would actually help at this point, Dante jumped to the side, getting out of the way of the flowers, but it seemed pretty clear that the woman had meant to capture the butterfly. Why else would she be disappointed?
"I'm really, really sorry. Can I help you find another butterfly? Please?"

Turning back to the boy, Taylor wore a look of surprise. She hadn't expected him to be so...well so sorry. It wasn't that big of a deal. Another shot would eventually present itself or so she hoped. Still, it was quite sweet he offered his help.
"Oh -er- thanks?" she said hesitantly, slightly lowering the camera and making sure it was locked. Usually people just walked off when they disrupted a photo moment. It was nice seeing someone who actually cared enough to offer his help, but she doubted it was necessary. Then again, she thought while looking around at the people strolling down the paths, laughing. It could be fun, right?
"There really is no need...buuuuuut I won't lie and say I couldn't use the help." A large grin spread over her face as she held out her free hand. "Taylor's the name! Nice to meet you. I'm sure we'll be done in a jiffy."

Dante put a hand to his chest when the girl so easily accepted his apology. He had expected her to be angry with him for one reason or another, especially for his class. But she had no idea where he was from, and besides, she seemed cheerful and nice.
“I’m Dante,” he said as he shook her hand, smiling back to her. “Nice to meet you, too.” Unsure of what else to say, and eager to fix his mistake, Dante started looking around the park for any butterflies. He tried to find the one that he had scared off with his landing, but it was long gone, and the air was clear and empty. No butterflies in sight, only kids, playground equipment, and a couple birds.
So… Dante wondered in his head as he scratched his cheek. … where do butterflies live exactly? He wasn’t even sure if he had seen one up close until today. He’d heard about them, but never saw one—or at least never remembered having done so. His cheeks turned a little pink as he had to look back to Taylor and ask, “Any idea how we should start looking?”

Taylor watched on bemused as she released Dante’s hand and watched him walk off and look around. Chuckling softly at his innocence, she watched as he turned and looked somewhat helplessly at her. He had no idea where to search.
“Heheh, don’t worry. I don’t really need a butterfly – they’re actually quite rare around here, pretty sure that was one of the very few,” she mused and quickly waved her hands in front of her as to not upset Dante.
“But don’t worry! I actually just need whatever colourful flora and fauna. Sooo, flora is enough ‘round here, we just need some kind of colourful creature; butterfly, bird, squirrel doesn’t matter. I’m pretty sure my client just wanted some reference shots for a painting or whatever.” The last part was muttered beneath her breath as she looking around as well.
Maybe there were too many people today? The park usually was a lot livelier than this. She hadn’t even come across a single bird yet.
“Anyway, we might try going down that path it’s a lot less –er- crowded down there.” Pointing at a gravel path to the left, Taylor sighed and started walking.

Oh thank god, she explained what fauna meant. Dante had almost missed it, too, so confused by "flora" that his head had been swimming with too many thoughts to think clearly. But he had caught it: butterflies, birds, squirrels, or any other creatures. He could work with that.
Dante relaxed, relieved that he could still fix Taylor's shot. "Okay, cool. Creatures… creatures…" Dante looked around as he repeated the word, checking the park in every direction—as if that would actually help. There were so few animals outside of the zoos that a quick glance wasn't going to do any good, but Dante kept pivoting and looking all around until a spark hit him.
His brow rose high as a memory surfaced in his mind. "Oh! Okay, hold on. I think I might know of a place." Dante once again looked around, staring at all of the trees in the park. Only one of them looked familiar, though: the tree across from that old yellow house. So Dante crouched down and gave the trees another look. Immediately, one of the trees stood out to him. As he saw it from the height of his three-year-old self, Dante recognized the tree, and he waved for Taylor as he took off running. "It's over here."
Dante led Taylor across the park, over to a row of three trees, where he stopped at the far left one. With a smile, Dante relived a memory. It was a short, blurry memory. He saw himself standing in front of the big roots that he had tripped over and scraped his knee on. His big blue eyes looked up the massive trunk. Then everything went black for a moment before he remembered Isaac climbing down from the tree, holding a tiny blue eggshell.
"Up there," he said, pointing to the branches. "I remember a long time ago there were birds in that tree. They had these real small eggs that were as blue as the sky. Maybe some birds are still using that nest." He wasn't sure if that was how birds worked or not, but it made sense to him to reuse a nest. If he was a bird, he would reuse a nest for sure.
"Can you climb?"

With a shrug Taylor decided to follow behind Dante. At this point she'd take whatever she could get, besides it was much more fun to do her job with someone around. Though it seemed like her companion was much more familiar with the area than she, which reminded her once more how shortly she'd lived in the middle class. A first birthday without her family, meeting new people, living by herself, if this was what her parents wanted for her instead of a family...Taylor wasn't sure she wanted it at all.
Still a promise is a promise and she'd get through it for a year, which meant she really needed to get this job right. The money offered was decent and it shouldn't be that difficult of a job, if only some animals were around.
Lost in thought, she nearly missed Dante's question and looked puzzled at him for a moment before nodding quickly. "Oh! Yes, sure, I can climb." she smiled, tugging on the cord of her camera to secure it. The birds he described sounded promising and if they were still there her job was as good as done. So making her way to the tree Taylor grinned and turned to Dante. "If they're still there, I'll treat you to something nice, okay? Any sweets you like?"sorry for taking so long and thank you for being so patient
