The mood seemed to improve with little effort on the Lion's part. She gave in just a little, enough to actually treat the night with some potential and the reaction it got was almost immediate. A sign of life in the raven-haired womans face, turning from sorrow, to curiosity and quickly again to excitement. Lyante had practically jumped up, running over to the catgirl and offering her up several selections for the nights activities. Apparently, manga was first on the list. Rio had never read manga before, though she got the gist of it well enough. How it differed from a comic book she wasn't quite sure. The art style, perhaps, that seemed to be the biggest difference as she scanned through the first volume Lyante offered her.
Rio's expression went stoic when she saw the last of the manga's offered to her however. She stared blankly at the cover before both gold and blue iris' alike slowly turned towards Lyante. "...Do people seriously make money printing stuff like this-" She stopped mid-sentence, opening the book out of pure fascination and reading the first few paragraphs. Her look turned from mild humor to a visage that, without words, represented 'what the fuck' in the purest of forms. Flipping a few more pages, Rio's mouth slowly opened, speechless but jaw dropped at the things she read. "This...you're fucking with me right? Tell me this is some alternate universe comic. Heat? Breeding season? Litter boxes?!" Rio was pretty sure she wasn't even angry at this point. The things written in this book had obviously been dreamed up by someone who hadn't even known someone spliced with animal genes. The work of fiction, in the purest of forms. Running a hand through her hair, Rio took a deep exhale and plopped the book down on the pile, turning to Lyante and seriously wondering how much of the contents she genuinely believed.
"Ok. Alright...so most of this book is bullshit. In the hopes of not having uninformed shut ins who look at us like actual cats, I'm going to educate you. I'm spliced with a mountain lion. I need a special shampoo and if it doesn't actually get dirty then I don't wash it with anything, just water or a wet cloth. I like fish...probably a lot more than a normal person would. If I had to compare having my tail pulled to something...it'd be like someone pushing really hard on your belly button, but have that sensation on the back of your hips. I can see better in the dark than normal people, but I only know that because of my cybernetic eye as a comparison. Aside from that...some people can purr I guess, I do not. That's about all I got...any other questions?"
Looking back to the TV and the pile of snacks in front of her, Rio grabbed another bite of sushi, continuing to look through the volumes available until eventually the girls finished off the delicious plates. Rio leaned back against the nearest stable piece of furniture, patting her stomach with closed eyes. It had been the best meal she'd eaten in ages, and the taste of tuna once more gracing her lips almost sent tears down the female's organic eye. "Mm...this is supposed to be your 'dream night' officer. As long as it's not lame as hell, I'll follow through. Just no chick flicks for movies and I'll probably survive whatever you throw at me."

Lyante had sat up straight when Rio had decided to educate her. Nodding in confirmation and holding an interested look on her face, she paused her nodding when Rio asked if there were any other questions.
Of course there were. Lyante was bursting with a million of them. But she chose to be smart about this and just shook her head. "Nope, got it," she managed, only slightly disappointed Rio didn't pur.
Suddenly, a realisation popped into Lyante's head; the Red Lion had done something that also had happened in her manga: she had shared something about herself. Lyante's eyes sparkled, she knew what to do now. Wracking her brain for something to share, she finally found something and smiled.
"I...I inherited the splicing with spider DNA. Apparently both my parents had it. Nobody ever told me, so I found out in college. We had this course in genetics where you can have your own DNA analysed and it shows a picture of the animal. Yeah, t-that didn't make me popular, because I didn't even know what part I got. But I guess I can understand the cat girl stigma the tiniest bit, I mean, I don't weave webs or anything...b-but I guess it's a million times worse for people with feline DNA."
Lyante moved towards the stack of movies, picking one out, but then realizing the main character was a catgil and putting it back. In the end she settled for a fun little adventure movie she popped in, while opening up the snacks and pouring them in bowls. She sat herself down next to Rio and put the bowls around them, drinks and cups nearby as she wrapped herself in the blanket.
During the movie she kept telling Rio little bits like "I love this part!"or "ah, this always scares me" until finally the credits rolled and Lyante found herself stretched out on the futon, awake, but duffled up, wrapped in the blanket, leaning on her hugpillow.
"So, w-what are games people play during these things? "

Admittedly, Rio was surprised the raven-haired woman behind her hadn't started writing down facts as she spoke of them. Maybe dispelling myths and rumors about her genetics were easier to remember than the lies whatever odd artist had drawn up for the books she'd read prior. Being uninformed was fine, being outright wrong and knowing it wasn't however. Although, buying the lie that Rio didn't purr would be accepted. It was kind of embarrassing more than anything. She couldn't change how she looked, but something so very...catlike in her personality almost irked the lion. It was one of the few defining effects the gene-splicing had on her personality as a whole. The love of fish, an indescribable desire to be inside snug, confined places. A love of boxes and catnip...and purring.
With the subject matter presently addressed, Rio paid the book no more mind and scanned over the movies Lyante provided. She saw a stray set of cat and other animal ears on some characters before her partner for the night hurridly put them away. Genetically modified actors were in the midst of mainstream media, Rio thought nothing of seeing one in any manner of movies. She was sure there were a fair amount in the adult industry as well- that would be about the only genre Lyante could hide that would have surprised Rio at this point. Maybe not even surprise...but unexpected considering their circumstances of 'sleepover'. "Huh..couldn't imagine what the spider thing would do, aside from eyesight and maybe agility. The spliced thing isn't that bad. It's kinda gotten to the point where I take head rubs and tail-pulls on the same level as gropes, but that's mostly because they're only ever done by assholes or in order to be condescending. I don't let it bother me." Rio continued simply watching intently with bi-colored eyes until Lyante picked one. She put the movie in, practically showering Rio with a possibility of different snack foods spread out around them.
Hesitating for a moment, Rio reached into her own bag, withdrawing what appeared to be a package containing strips of beef. "So uh...there's not much for snack foods available down below, but we have this. It's kinda...well, it's not beef- that's for sure, but it's jerky. If nothing else, flavorings aren't hard to come by. I carry a lot on me usually in case I have to uh...stay in one place for a while at work-" She didn't go any further into details about it. Lyante probably knew exactly what she meant, but it was best not to bring it up in a situation like this. Instead she offered a piece to the female, setting the bag inbetween them amidst all the other selections available to her.
With everything set up, Rio took a nearby blanket and curled up a bit, her tail hanging outside the blanket cat-taco and swaying left and right on the floor beneath them. Feeling a bit more relaxed, the redhead let herself sink back and loosen up a bit as they watched the movie. Her ears twitched in irritation whenever Lyante felt the need to play commentary on the film, but she ignored it and continued watching until the film had come to a close.
It seemed the raven-haired woman wanted to move from one activity to the other. She wasn't sure what kind of games were played by adult women in sleepovers like this. It had been years after all, all Rio could come up with was drinking- but that was off the table when her attention had to stay at least moderately focused on the area around them. "Don't know man. We used to play truth or dare in high school, who had a crush on what boy. Y'know, usual weird teen-girl stuff. I don't know if any of that is applicable here.."

"I see,"Lyante said, taking mental notes od the catgirl's capabilities. It was something she did without thinking, a product of her training, she'd say. She kept to herself, however, that her inherited splicing allowed her to produce venom, but unless they started biting eachother, that wouldn't come up.
"Well, I got the new eye for eyesight. I went quite a while with only one eye, but I wouldn't want eight though." Though they obviously shared the eye enhancement, Lyante hesitated to press on, thinking the subject would be too close to work. For now, they were just two women, having a somewhat awkward slumberparty.
During the movie Lyante was excited to see Rio had actually brought snacks. Wondering what they would be, she instantly recognized the snack from her childhood: "Oh, I remember these!"she called out, "I never quite got around to finding out what they are made from though and something tells me I don't want to either."
When the movie ended and Lyante asked Rio what games she knew, her eyes once again twinkled at the woman's answer. Her face one big smile she could only utter a "YES." before she caught herself and tried to tone herself down. "I m-mean, yeah, w-we can do that, I mean, s-sure it's for younger people, b-but hey why not?"
Failing to come across as the calm and relaxed person she hoped to be on this sleepover, she was already thinking about finally playing these games and experiencing the joy and mystique it always seemed to bring in the movies.
"O-kay, I'll start! I pick...erm...DARE," she said confidently, shortly followed by a "no, no ,wait, truth, truth, yes," remembering just in time you were never supposed to pick dare on the first try.
"U-Unless you want to talk about crushes?" Lyante blushed and hugged her pillow. There were a few she could talk endlessly about, a few she'd never admit to and a few that kept her up at night writing her fanfic. She was loving how this evening had turned out and they were still to have the defining moment: staying up past bedtime; that's when the magic happened according to everything she had ever read or seen on the subject.

Deciding as well that the topic may be a bit too close to work, Rio decided against commenting on the officers eye- although curiosity about the cybernetic indeed arose. Rio's itself wasn't anything special, most high-caliber eyes had similar functions to her own- it was simply that her eye was designed to be used in marksman situations that made its quality above the norm. For what others dabbled in when it came to taget acquisition, Rio's eye specialized in. Of course, she lacked quite a few features other cybernetic eyes could have possessed, but the trade off was well worth it when pursuing a target near a mile away.
The topic soon moved on anyways. Lyante took an interest in the modest amount of food Rio had brought with her, though she happily offered up her jerky when the spider-girl took interest. It was jalapeno flavored, preferred with a little spice to the Lion. She was somewhat surprised someone in the high class didn't immediately smack down the idea as a cheap food alternative, though she was happy to see she wouldn't have to deal with the awkward that followed such an event. Trying out several of Lyante's own, some struck the redhead with a barrage of new flavors while others reminded her of a time long since passed. Saturday nights spent staying up way too late with a group of friends that all pitched in to buy a bag of candy far too large for their teenage bodies to use up. But then again, back in those days Rio didn't have to worry about a bag of candy going straight to her hips. Now on the other hand, running from crime scenes kept most of her body slender and sporty- though she had to admit her size proportions were off just a bit in the 'trunk' department.
Again, a subject turn as Rio offhandedly mentioned several games she'd played as a kid. She didn't expect Lyante to jump over her first mention however- the concept of truth or dare seeming like it could lead to some dangerous places between a mafia hitman and a police officer. She looked a bit skeptically at the female before the lion sighed, shrugging her shoulders. If things got a bit too personal she could always call off the game, it would be a little awkward perhaps but likely better for the both of them. No need in one getting too involved in the others business after all. "I didn't really expect you to pick truth or dare, but fine. Rules though, nothing about work- for either of us. That being said, let's see..." Rio looked up, tail wagging absent mindedly from side to side as she thought up something worth asking the raven haired woman. It was hard, seeing as the two of them had known each other less than a few hours total. "Alright..how much of this 'catgirl' shit do you have, and, have you gone out of your way to find material on it?"
Admittedly, she almost feared the answer this question was going to yield, though it might give insight as to what kind of view Lyante had on cat-spliced people. It could have been a fetish, she surely wouldn't rule that out quite yet. "And I guess...I'll pick truth."

Lyante nodded, she understood that a game like this could unintentionally go awry extremely fast, giving the nature of their professions. Bound by the ancient laws of slumberparties, she couldn't withhold information or had to take a dare, so that was a really good rule. Her heart was beating in her throat, anticipating what kind of question Rio would ask.
Lyante stopped dead in her bouncy anticipation when the question dropped. Instantly she worried, what if Rio thought she was a bad person that kept catgirls as a pet or worse? She had to remedy the situation and fast.
"I-um, I mainly buy stuff with t-this one catgirl," she said, quickly throwing her arms up in defense of her face and yelling, "b-but, wait, wait, it's this one!"
Diving in the pile of mangas, she fished out a volume and showed it to Rio. "It's my favourite series and the catgirl here is a knight and she takes on opponents and never loses and..."
Lyante prattled on about the character, telling Rio it was one of her favourites and that the character wasn't at all used as a cheap ploy to get male readers, hoping Rio would come to the conclusion she wasn't some creepy girl with a very specific preference.
"Truth," Lyante repeated. It only now dawned on her just how hard it was to find a good question. Anything about her past was out. So was anything about her eye. Which weapons she used was likewise not an option. She didn't know her well enough to ask what the characters in her manga asked either. She sat there, stumped as she implored Rio to 'hang on'.
"OH," she suddenly exclaimed, a smile growing in tandem with a blush on her face. She had stumbled on a classic and wondered what Rio would answer; maybe it would help her understand her own experience, "Have you ever had a real kiss?"
Her blush intensified as she asked it, and she couldn't keep looking Rio in the eye, her gaze flicked towards the side and she added. "And I pick truth again."

Rio cocked an eyebrow, somewhat interested in the panic that ensued immediately after her question had been asked. As expected, Lyante hadn't predicted the question would come up and struggled to find a legitimate answer. Rio hid a smile, trying not to snicker at the obvious panic she was causing. Lyante had stopped moving altogether, instead turning to dig through a pile for some evidence that wouldn't prove her to be some overly bigoted, obsessed fangirl. Of course, Rio cared little about the subject as a whole, people had their preferences and as long as they weren't trying to bait her with a giant cat toy, she wouldn't judge the preference of one person over another.
As the manga series was offered, Rio looked at it, flipping through several pages to make sure nothing looked too inappropriate. After judging that Lyante was in fact not a gigantic catgirl obsessed pervert, she handed the manga back, raising an eyebrow once more at the overly descriptive plot points. "Well, actors or main characters that have gene splice features I can't argue about. I was just worried you'd pull out some 'neko neko paradise' or something filled with 30 cat girls on an island." Though, her eyes fixated on Lyante for a moment, making sure she hadn't accidentally described another manga the raven haired woman hid under her pillow or something.
Soon enough however the subject switched over to Rio. As long as things weren't incredibly awkward or about work, she could see herself replying to just about any question without too much worry. Something about her genetics Lyante had been afraid to ask about earlier perhaps, or a question about her eye even- though that would be teetering on the balance of interest and work. The question that came up however, was unexpected to say the least. The red lion put on a look of misunderstanding, wondering what kind of mental train birthed that kind of question in round one of a truth or dare game. Of course, she was immediately reminded of the redundancy of that thought when she'd asked about fetish material in her first question as well. "Uhhh...yeah? I mean, I had a boyfriend in high school and we were a bit feverish at times, especially right before the exam. Some things like that happened at a sleepover or two once before. I'd like to think between those events I'd gotten at least one or two serious sessions in, yeah."
As embarrassing as that was however, it was time to move on to the next round. Coughing into her arm in an attempt to straighten her mind back up and rid her face of the small pink tint that had crossed it, Rio thought silently on what kind of question she could ask in return after being asked such an off one in the first place. "Alright...why the obsession with a night like this? Don't get me wrong, it's been pretty chill so far. But if you've set things up and invited someone like me- you must've had this on your mind for a while. Surely you could have found someone better."
Rio had a bit of regret surface as she spoke the followup to her question. Surely it would carry a bit of melancholy with it- though the curiosity was certainly present enough to justify the risk. Taking a moment to consider her options, Rio took a breath in before deciding. "Dare."

"Sessions..." Lyante repeated softly, hugging her pillow tightly and looking at Rio in awe, dreamy eyes and all. Compared to Rio, the small peck she had given the man with the mole didn't seem to hold up. Lyante geinned, was it her or did Rio just blush? Squeezing the pillow, she imagined what such a session would be like. Her mind flashed back to the ferris wheel, remembering the warmth when she had snuggled up to another person. A shiver ran across her skin as she realized how strongly she longed for that feeling of warmth and security. She was soon snapped out of her daydreaming state as Rio posed the next question.
She couldn't fault Rio for asking; not many officers called in a favor from a mob assassin in order to have a sleepover. Still, it once again reminded Lyante just how limited she was on the whole having friends thing. Despite how it made her feel, Lyante smiled as she looked Rio in the eye, "truth be told...I think you're the best match," she released her pillow and sat up a bit straighter, "with the risk of sounding even more pitiful, I don't have many options. I saw the last member of my family die of a magix overdose in the slums 16 years ago, and you know in the slums there is no room for slumber parties. There's survival. And even when i crawled out of that hellhole and got myself into the education program, I was still the slum girl, finding out you were spliced with a spider didn't help much, neither did losing an eye. At some point I became to old to have slumber parties and afraid that colleagues would find the whole thing ridiculous; I'm apparently already weird enough for them to draw straws when they have to check up on me. So when I got to call a favor of a woman I had a nice chat with and who I don't have to hear ridicule from every day if anything goes wrong, I took it."
She took a sip of her drink and grew silent for a moment, "It's not like I want to 'live the childhood I never had', that's ridiculous. I just, I wanted to understand and experience how it felt." "That doesn't sound that crazy to me, right?" The retorical question lingered for a bit. Then Rio picked dare. It was finally there. Lyante knew that at some point one of them was going to show some guts and pick it. But what to choose? The manga had helped her with the previous question, what dares had they given eachother in the booklet?
Instantly a rather large blush developed unto Lyante's cheeks. Surely she wouldn't...but wasn't that part of the game, trying to make the other chicken out? Besides, it might teach her something, maybe if she had bee nbetter at it, the man with the mole would have come after her, just like in the movies.
Fine, she thought, figuring she had nothing to lose, it doesn't count anyway according to that character in the manga so here goes nothing.
Despite her attitude about it, she still found it extremely hard to say, bringing her knees to her chin and almost hiding her face.
"I d-dare you to give me a k-kiss."
It was a way for her to figure out how you were supposed to do it of course, nothing more, just like in her stories.

It was somewhat expected that Rio would run into a bit of an awkward answer. She listened intently as the raven haired girl curled up in a more 'safe' fashion before speaking. Rio thought back to the sleepovers she had as a kid, supposing you had to be pretty close to someone in order to ask for that kind of bonding. It got significantly harder to find good friends as you got older. That fact remained firm, regardless of the place she was sent to after 16. Of course, friends were few and very far between when you were in the slums. The number of people Rio felt comfortable turning her back on could be counted on one hand.
Zero.
"Seems like ugly doesn't exist just in the slums. It's easier to spot in a personality than it is in a look." It figured things wouldn't change even from Rio's own childhood. Spoiled kids willing to make fun of someone for the smallest thing. It was the privledge of the wealthy and the powerful to be able to take life so callously. Point a gun in their faces and they started appreciating what they had and the good friends around them a lot more. Rio nodded, understanding the situation Lyante had spun to her (With no puns intended). It made sense, a longing for something you've only heard of in books and stories. The idea of drawing straws to check up on someone, even in adulthood was a depressing notion as well. It seemed like the police officer needed more confidence than anything. She was far from bad looking, but the unsure nature she carried herself with would definitely rub off on people. Confidence was intoxicating, and having nerves around vultures would only get you eaten alive.
That being said, Rio nearly froze in place when Lyante had challenged her dare. "W-wha-" Her eyes widened in surprise, tail freezing in place and ears perking up as if they would hear an echo of the request Lyante had just given her. The lion had to make some form of eye contact to make sure she wasn't dealing with a joke here, and the visage she witnessed proved that possibility null and void. Lyante was blushing madly, knees tucked up to her face in a look of genuine embarrassment. This was either amazing acting or some form of repressed desire. Still, after a moment the redhead had calmed her expression, leaning herself back on one arm with a sarcastic look. "That's an ironic request right after trying so vividly to tell me you didn't have a thing for catgirls." Slowly, the look turned to a sly smirk. It was kinda cute, if nothing else- the way Lyante had struggled with herself to request it. Who knew, maybe it would do her some good in the long run.
She sat up, pushing off her arm and taking a seat beside Lyante. She sighed casually, deciding it best not to overwhelm the situation with awkward by asking about the minutia. She leaned in instead, her hand wrapping around the raven haired girl's neck and snaking a hand up the back of her head and under silky black locks. Gripping her hair lightly, Rio guided the two girls mouths together, locking lips as both cybernetic and organic eyes alike closed for the experience. Rio's kiss was soft and tender, with no real rush or persistence behind it. Slowly however, she parted her lips, licking at Lyante's own for a moment and pardoning entry for a more heated exchange.
Of course, this passion only lasted for about a minute. Long enough for Lyante to commit a few things to memory. Having satisfied her request in the lion's mind, she slowly withdrew, adding one peck to the lips to finalize their interaction before plopping back down in her seat, casually grabbing another piece of jerky as if all she'd done was pat the officer on the shoulder. "Hope that was everything you wanted and more, officer~"

She couldn't believe it, she had actually said it and now she was sitting there, heat flashing across her face, heart beating in her throat. She felt her stomach turn in excitement and anticipation, a mix between disbelieve and fear Rio would just get up and leave, insulted and shocked by Lyante's dare. When Rio made her catgirl remark, Lyante couldn't take the embarrassement anymore and hid her face, thinking Rio had to really think she was some kind of pervert now.
When she heard the girl get up, she had already made peace with it, after all, until now it had been quite an enjoyable evening; Rio's debt was more then paid. She waited until she would hear a door, signifying the end of the party; instead she felt Rio sit down next to her. She looked up, frowning, not understanding as Rio leaned in. As the catgirl cupped her face, Lyante felt a pang of panic.
S-she wouldn't, s-she'd n-never, she thought, her cheeks warm and red, and her heart beating down het throat as Rio's hand laced into her hair, guiding their faces closer. Despite her panic, Lyante couldn't stop herself, or Rio for that matter. Her breath quickened as the probability that Rio was playing a joke lessened the the second. She tilted her head slightly, relinquishing control to Rio as she felt the catgirl's breath on her face.
The next moment Lyante held her breath and as Rio's soft lips touched hers, she could feel her heart pounding. The new sensation was far from what had happened at the ferris wheel. Soft and tender, a kiss given, not stolen; Lyante felt herself lean in slightly, careful as if not to ruin it. Slowly, she let Rio take the lead momentarily surprised by the addition of her tongue. She could no longer hold her breath and let it escape her tortured lungs with a soft, immediately stifled moan as Rio gave Lyante a taste of passion. A barely audible whimper left Lyante's lips at the same time as Rio's lips. The small, quick peck, following the kiss like an echo gave Lyante goosebumps as she let herself fall back as Rio released her.
Covering her face to hide her blush and to collect her toughts, Lyante could only answer Rio after a good solid minute. Her voice slightly shaken as she sat up once more, she qnswered almost dreamily, "y-yeah."
Still affected, she tried to snap out of it, but found herself slightly shaking from the excitement and unable to rid herself of the goosebumps. Still, she couldn't let Rio see just how much it had affected her, after all, it was her turn: "I g-guess I'll pick d-dare too."
