"I'm sorry… what was that?" Madam Roux's sweet voice turned hard and bitter. She looked back to Isaac, soon snorting with a dark smile pulling at her tense face. "It almost sounded as if you were making demands, but perhaps I heard wrong."
"You heard me," said Isaac, staring down at this powder-faced woman. He was flanked on both sides by Madam Roux's bodyguards, yet he continued to speak with foolish severity. "I need more tech. If you're going to keep sending me to the Upper Class, then I need more than a cheap visor and baby's first shield. I need weapons. I need something to keep my identity a secret. I need a mask; I need a damn helmet."
Madam Roux turned and lashed out her hand. Isaac pulled his head back, but a firm, stone-hard palm gripped the back of his skull and shoved him forward. The sharp, red-painted nails tore into his cheek, and three red lines split open, blood trickling down his jaw.
"You're right," said Madam Roux. "You do need a helmet. Perhaps it will protect what's left of your brain. You do not order me, boy. You listen, you bow, and you obey."
Isaac's face twitched from the hot pain, which only disturbed the cuts further. Still, he gritted his teeth and snarled at Roux, his voice low and graveled. "If I get caught, the government will take my brother down. You know how the Secret Police work. They'll think he was helping me on the inside, and they'll take him out. I know it; you know it. If I get caught, I'll take you down with me. Give me what I need or we die togeth—"
Another slap shut Isaac up, but his hard glare remained, unwavering as blood trickled across his gnarled lips. Madam Roux stared him down, her ruby contacts leering into Isaac's silver spheres. Little by little, Isaac stood up taller, forcing Madam Roux to raise her chin higher.
It wasn't until a fist struck Isaac's stomach that he bent forward, hunching over and allowing Madam Roux to finally look down at him. Isaac gasped for breath, only to lose it again as a foot smashed into his rib cage. He shoved his hands to the floor to remain as high as he could, and eventually, Madam Roux said, "I'll consider it. Give me some time, and I'll see if I can find you a helmet—but no weapons. I'm not a fool, boy."
The bodyguards both reached for Isaac's shoulders when Madam Roux stepped forward. She waved her hand to them, though, and they each took a step back. Madam Roux crouched in front of Isaac, and her sickening voice returned as she whispered, "Hit me. I know you want to. You think I don't know what you want a weapon for? If I even give you a stick, I know where it will end up. Go on. Hit me."
Isaac's body trembled against the cold steel floor. His eyes drifted to the side, to see the boys and girls wrapping up bundles of drugs, the orphans who kept their eyes forward and their heads down, biting their lips to fight back their sobs. Isaac clenched his fist tight, and he ground it into the floor as if it was dirt. His arm tensed up, his breath caught in his lungs, and his skin burned.
Madam Roux rose up and turned her back to him. With a snap of her fingers, she made every child in the room flinch, and her bodyguards seized Isaac's shoulders once again. As fists of stone and shoes lined with steel struck Isaac's body, Madam Roux said in a sing-song voice, "Not too hard tonight, gentlemen… He still has work to do."

It was such a wonderful night. The moon is shining down above, crossing through the leaves and the branches. She can hear crickets chirping and the soft hum of environment stabilizer working in the corner. Hard to keep some plants alive indoors, and especially those ones that originates in misty mountains. The ones she has are even more fragile, their DNA freshly modified and is trying to adjust to the changes in its structure. Delilah watched fondly as thorns begin to grow at the leaf’s edge. They sway gently towards her and she didn’t hesitate to nuzzle to them. “Hmmm Mmm Mm Mmm Mm Mmmmm~” she hummed quietly in the dark. She would love to sing a lullaby to the flowers, but the roots have dug quite deep into her throat. Humming is the most comfortable noise she can make. And its what all the plants in the room liked as well, writhing and straining their limbs to try and touch her. Touching the one that are shaping their body, the one that made them grow unnaturally fast. She giggled lightly and stood up, being extra careful than usual. Being seven feet tall suddenly can cause accidents and she doesn’t want to explain to her brothers why there is a hole in the roof again. The bright side is she can just easily touch the highest leaves on a tree to check their progress, and touching the soil of hanging plants without the need to grab a ladder. Carefully she walked around the greenhouse, going through each rows of trees and vines, double checking all the plants to make sure they are growing well, making sure her gnarly horns would not hit anything. As well as ignoring their cry. They are always hungry, and always want to devour meat – fresh bloody ones. And as always, she rebuked them in her head. Pointing out they already went out last week and ate. Doing so too often will increase the chance they get burned. They can’t argue back, even though their roots are twisted in to her, drinking her blood, they know they need her to be safe and alive if they want to feast again. Although for tonight... That doesn’t seem like a problem... All the plants suddenly froze, as if sensing something. They are much more aware of their surrounding then typical plants, after all she did spend time to try put in animal DNA and see their effect. It resulted the plants to crave for more nutrients, but they are also partially sentient. Maybe they notice a shadow blocking the moon? Or more carbon dioxide in the air? Or just maybe the sudden silence of the crickets and machines outside. Who knows but she has to work fast before they enter. She didn’t waste time and immediately went to her Cerberus toy. With flowers for hands it’s a little finicky to turn on the recorder and the music player within, but she managed it with help from her tail vines. A silent tone echoes out from the toy’s mouth. All the plants in the greenhouse suddenly grew twice as large. The leaves covered the moon and hid Delilah carefully among the trees branches. Like a tree among trees. They remain still for their guest, pretending to be normal plants. If fate is with them, they get a meal tonight. Here is what she look like if under bright light

A flower shop. Of all things, Madam Roux wanted Isaac to rob a flower shop. What she wanted made sense. Like the last few heists he’d pulled for her, Isaac was here to steal a poisonous plant to add to her collection of weapons. There were still plenty of cities in the world that fought each other, and probably a handful in the midst of civil war. Surely some warlords or assassins would pay a high price for a deceptively deadly plant. That wasn’t really the issue, though. What confused Isaac was why a flower shop had something like this to begin with.
He stood on the roof of a nearby building, looking down at the greenhouse in the back of the shop. His visor displayed a dark blue world, with blobs of yellow, orange, and red littering the void. From up here, Isaac couldn’t see too much detail. If there were infrared laser beams in the greenhouse or any other security systems, he couldn’t tell until he got down to the ground. There was, however, a rather strange sight that he couldn’t explain: Along with a few tiny dots of heat sprinkled throughout the garden, there was a rather large yellow and orange mass that looked absolutely bizarre. It was broader than the average person, but it was thick the entire way up and down, unlike the more rounded shape of someone who was morbidly obese. The heat seemed to spread out as well, and it moved up and down as if waving in a breeze.
What the hell is that thing? Isaac wondered. It couldn’t be a piece of tech, because it was clearly moving around. It could have been an android, but it wouldn’t be that large or produce that much heat outside of its battery pack. Nothing made sense, but Isaac was sure of one thing: This thing was a problem.
Isaac climbed down to the ground and approached the greenhouse. The strange mass of heat moved around before suddenly standing stock still. It didn’t move at all anymore, though its heat kept spreading out little by little. This wasn’t good.
Sadly, Isaac didn’t have a choice but to keep going. He tipped his visor down to the end of his nose to get a clearer look at the greenhouse. There was a window that was partially open, but at this point, that seemed like asking for trouble. If that mass of heat was actually a person, then for one thing they were a fucking giant, and for another they probably knew Isaac was coming.
Instead, Isaac crept to the front of the flower shop. He picked the lock and slipped inside, now making his way to the door to the greenhouse. This was probably suicide, but he had no choice. After what he had said to Madam Roux tonight, failure was not an option.
He slid the door open and looked around, using his infrared filter to find that mass again before shutting it off completely. As the visor returned to normal color—while still masking his eyes—Isaac looked to see what exactly was making that heat. But all he saw… were trees.
He had a bad feeling about this.

The plants alertness was well founded. From her high position she could see someone with a visor passing by, it was something she recognised because its what Ven and Dee use on their job sometimes. She watched quietly from between the tree branches, as the boy easily pick the simple lock and enter her private greenhouse. If either of her brothers find out about this they would definitely insist she install better security. Probably also nag her to actually lock the door and definitely tell her to install a camera. Both of which she would not listen, especially about the camera, she hated those things.
Also she doesn’t really see the need for security. The plants can defend themselves easily enough. Many already begin to spread out along the floor or even pulsating. One of them already snaking their way to the boy’s ankle, thorns full of poison that if he doesn’t notice it in time will cause his leg to become a dead weight. Of course they are all still rather slow. As much as the plants wanted to, they couldn’t move so easily with body that isn’t made of flesh. Or at least rooted into a body of flesh.
Delilah waited to see the guy look around, the moment he turned away from her, she kicked off and landed on the wall. Her wooden hooves dug into the stone wall just like the vines decorating there. She carefully hid her large purple flower in the mass of her teal hair, which also have a great deal of vines growing out of it. She could attack him now, it would be easy as well. Just jumping off the wall and knock him to the ground with the weight of a small girl plus a tree. From there it would be just so simple to smother him in her own personal poison before slowly digging out his implants.
They cried out again though, already wanting to attack, already hungry. She hushed them in her mind and they went silent. Being patient with her and wait to see what the boy come here for.
There are a lot of experimental plant in this greenhouse and only one or three are considered completely harmless. Rest can strangle, poison, dissolve and even explode on someone that they don’t like. Which turns out to be everyone but Delilah. Sometime she suspected that if she didn’t lecture one of her plant for hoisting Ven up, the rest of her plant brood would have attacked her brothers as well. Still she wasn’t worried, they are great and strong and definitely can handle her creations.
The question here is whether this guy can handle them. As another plant were extending their vines across the work table to try and reach out to his arm. One part curiosity, other parts hungry and humans flesh has always being a great fertiliser.

Isaac's eyes focused curiously on the trees, and his brow furrowed with confusion. He knew for a fact that he had seen the heat signature. It had been right there a second ago, and it had been massive. Why was he only seeing trees in its place? Could the person be outside of the greenhouse? Infrared vision couldn't really display depth that well, so maybe. But how could he miss something like that?
Isaac kept looking toward the trees, reaching up to his visor to turn on a different filter. But right as his fingers neared the orang frame, he felt his pant leg move, and he pulled his foot up, eyes darting down to the floor. A vine covered in thorns coiled in on itself, slowly constricting the air where Isaac's ankle had been.
It's moving. It's actually moving. Isaac's heart started to beat faster, and he finally understood why Madam Roux wanted to hit this shop.
More vines slithered across a steel table, reaching for Isaac's arm. Shit! Isaac pulled back just in time, and he snapped his head around to watch out for anything else. Up, down, all around, having to check every inch of this place to make sure no other plants attacked him.
This whole place was alive. Madam Roux's request made it obvious that at least some of these things were deadly, but Isaac hadn't expected anything like this. His heart told him to run. His legs begged him to run. His brain screamed for him to run.
Madam Roux, however, commanded him to stay.
Switching on his NUIP filter, Isaac saw exactly what he wanted. In the top-left corner of his vision, he saw a number one appear. The visor discounted Isaac's own implant, and yet there was still one nearby.
"I know you're here," Isaac said, looking back toward the trees where he had seen the heat signature last. "And I can see you wherever you go." While that was technically a bluff, it was only one for about half a minute—the time he needed to turn his infrared filter back on. "You cooperate with me, give me what I want, and no one has to get hurt." While he waited to hear from… whatever he was talking to… Isaac kept checking around for more vines or other plants.

The plants are all rather determined. Even as he managed to get out of their grasp they never stop trying to find him, branching out and lying in wait in the darkness. It helps a lot when some plants lay stock still while others move in his blind spot. It soon becoming a rather deadly game of “red light, green light”. Speed never was a problem for them.
She saw him touched his visor and followed his line of sight, smiling when she saw him looking at her. At least for a very brief moment, his head turned a little towards her side even though he still look at her last location. It seems she needs to ask Ven to make a better NUIP masker, something that can block out scanners from an intruder. Although thankfully she has enough security on hers that will hide her identity from anyone who is not higher ranked than her two brothers. Which blocked out about 90% of the population.
Delilah couldn’t help but let out a high giggle – the roots did a fantastic job in making her voice unnaturally high, it’s actually ringing a little in the greenhouse. She know she really shouldn’t have done that, since she has to immediately leap off the wall and into the tree branches, crouching down to be hidden within the canopy. That movement probably was caught by the boy, but by the looks of it he was using heat vision and that will give no clue on what she look like when she fold herself carefully among the tree branches. And she also know her viney tail, horns and hair give off no heat, so those part of her body can still so easily sneak up on the guy.
It may not have being a good idea to give her positions away, but it just amused her so much that the guy would want to try negotiating. If there is a plant he wanted he could have just asked for it in the day time, provided if he knew the name she has given them. What made this one desperate enough to come into her private greenhouse?
Well not that it matters, he already spoken out loud and it would be crystal clear in the recording hidden in the Cerberus toy on the desk. Later she could always give the recording to her brothers if she wants to get her plants back.
For now she was more curious than ever. Which of her pretties did he want? The thorny one that is still snaking towards his ankle? Or is it the one gurgling lightly with poison within the fruit? There are so many plants in the greenhouse, and many ways for them to kill if he did not tread carefully.
Just like that sweet little one underneath her table, its jaws open and ready to pounce. A Venus fly trap that has grown just a little bit larger. In normal people’s opinion the plant has grown too big, it could potentially swallow a cat. In fact its fast enough as the head shoot out to try and take a bite from the guy’s leg. The acid would easily burn through cotton.

It was a good thing Isaac's bandana muffled his voice somewhat, and even better that he tried to put extra gravel in his voice when he was on a job. The last thing he needed was someone recognizing his voice when he was out in public. Having Riley know his scent (…yes, that sounded just as odd in his head as it did out loud) was bad enough already.
Just as Isaac was about to change back to his infrared filter, the plants all swarmed him again. The thorny vines curled around his ankle again and a massive fly trap lunged straight for his leg. It was fast, almost like a snake, but Isaac was faster.
With a flip through the air, Isaac evaded both plants at once, spinning twice in the air before landing on a mesh of vines. He then kicked at the long neck of the fly trap, hoping to hit it and maybe snap it in two.
Isaac's heart raced faster and faster. He was in a death trap. This place was too small. Everything was alive, everything was trying to kill him, and there was nowhere to hide. There was little he could do to control the shaking in his arms. Even his anger couldn't chase away his terror. If he had the choice, he would have run, wouldn't have even come in here in the first place.
Isaac couldn't remember the last time he had ever had a choice in his own life.
Gritting his teeth, he checked around the greenhouse, searching desperately for a weapon. Maybe this place had gardening tools he could use to defend himself. A steel pipe was always preferred, but he would take what he could get at this point.

Seeing him backflipped away from the plants made her pout a little in disappointment. Seeing him stepping on the plants and even kicking her creations, she couldn’t help but let out an angered screech. She let her voice echo in the small greenhouse and watched carefully for his movement. Hopefully he wouldn’t immediately notice the large Devil’s Snare – yes she reads harry potter and actually worked to make a similar plant, the difference is the fact her plant love sunlight.
She can move fast in one leap, but not much more if she wanted to make sure nothing else gets destroyed in here. For the first time she was thankful that she kept most of her gardening tool out of sight in a tool box. There are no large shovels or pipes lying around, the few that can be seen already have vines using it as a support structure. Everything is always neat and tidy before she close shop and head home to make dinner.
Although the tool box is not exactly locked though, but its also not labelled among other boxes where she kept seeds that just germinated. Who knows, maybe he end up opening a box full of popping seed and they could latch on to him, or even the fast growing exploding peas.
However she doesn’t want to take the chance for him to arm himself. If he destroys anymore of her creation she would cry. She still waited till he wasn’t looking directly at her before jumping to the wall behind him. That visor maybe infrared, but she knows its not 360 degree vision. Which reminds her to return Sven’s pair of visor sometime later, she had her fun watching a plant glowing in heat before exploding in a shower of spores.
Quietly she settles on the viney walls behind him. Waiting for a chance to head butt him with her horns, that way he would finally stop hurting her precious.

Isaac's search was fruitless. There were boxes along the table, but nothing that looked remotely useful. There might be gardening tools in the boxes, but they were so small, and he needed a rake, not a dammed trowel.
His eyes snapped around, always checking to make sure the plants didn't sneak up on him. The vines kept crawling. The fly trap recovered and snapped out again. Others crept toward him from all sides. There was too much to watch—too many threats. Isaac could only avoid so much, and by the time he saw the horned demon leap from the wall, it was too late.
Isaac flinched and tried to hop out of the way, jerking his head away to avoid the horns. The sharp spike struck his shoulder, though, and sparks of blue light surged out around the horn's tip. Isaac's shield tried to protect him, to repel the demon. But with all of the plants biting at Isaac, and the persistent force of the horn, the shield shattered. Blue light enveloped Isaac's entire body before shattering like glass in the faintest fraction of a second. The horn passed through the shards of hard light and slashed Isaac's right shoulder. It all happened so fast, all in the middle of Isaac's jump to safety. Blood sprayed out from the deep gash from his shoulder to his pec, and he held back a scream through gritted teeth. His body smacked up against the central table, and he spun around its corner to avoid another attack, constantly moving despite the horrible pain.
As he attempted to run around the table—hoping to put some distance between himself and whatever moss-covered freak he was up against—he saw one of the boxes tip over the side. He had smacked the table so hard that the box fell over. Its lid popped open, and what looked like peas tumbled out, spilling out across the floor. Isaac had his worries already, and he backed up just before the peas could strike the floor.
They rolled toward him, expanding rapidly. Isaac didn't stick around to watch them, but as he turned to run, he could feel them explode against his legs, sending further flashes of hot pain up his body, making him stumble forward. He had to do everything he could not to fall into the vines.
Isaac smacked his hand down on another table for support, and he kept running. All he could think to do now was run for one of the trees along the wall. He still needed a weapon, and so he reached up for a branch thick enough to fight with, but thin enough to break off. Hopefully he could do a hit-and-run on the tree and get his weapon without falling into anymore traps in this hellhole.

The horn connected and she could feel the roots support her feeble flesh as she tries to toss the guy off. Blood is a small relieve as the wood drink in the red fluid, even helping more flowers to blossom on her horns. She could also feel the fibers digging into her flesh deeper, she got a feeling this is going to be painful later. But that’s later. For now she watched the guy scramble to the other side of the greenhouse, to all her trees.
Without much thought she screeched out again, panicking. The trees are not like the vines they can’t move far or fast, their limbs are hard but at the thin ones are brittle and can’t do anything other than turn further away. Even then they can’t get out of his reach, living in a greenhouse severely limited their height. As much as they wanted to grow taller they can’t.
With careful movement she turned and tries to find ways to get around the table. She could just stride there with her elongated legs, but he spilled her peas, some of them have not yet exploded. And they made horrible scorch marks on the floor that she definitely will have to explain to her brothers and hope they don’t mind her making a lot of high energy plants. If she could just control the release of energy just a little better she theoretically could create a pea that gives enough energy for a person to live for a week. And help solve the food problem in the lower class. Although right now they just explodes which the militaries seemed to be very fond of for some odd reason that she couldn’t understand.
She shook her head a little to drag her mind off her project, she has to get this thieve out of her greenhouse – now! Easily she leapt to the wall again as it has the most clean empty space before kicking off and landing back down towards the trees. There is very little room for him to run to now even if he arm himself with a branch. Hopefully he also didn’t notice her long vine tail, because its snaking along the ground trying to get behind him and maybe hoist him up somehow off the ground and no longer a danger to her plants.
Hopefully he has excuses prepared as well, or else she is going to either throw him out or turn him into a fertiliser. Most likely throwing him out because he can’t be all that good for her plants to digest with all the metal on him.
