Question: What's the status of flora in Novus? Are there trees planted along the streets, is there nice open/rural farmland where the food is grown, are there private rooftop greenhouses and terrace gardens in the upper class district?
Also are there fauna attractions? Aquariums, zoos, etc?
Also places to swim? Lakes, pools, etc.

Levenin At the moment, we're actually working on an update involving holidays, language, culture, and history. At least on the basic level, since you guys would be the ones to help us with making more. Similar holidays to what we have now ( the large more worldwide ones such as yule celebrations, valentine's day, halloween, etc ) will exist, but in different ways. So a holiday that would last for a single day could span an entire week, or even a month depending. And yes ! The holidays will indeed factor into future events - IC and OOC. We're still working out kinks for the first future event we have, but any ideas for holidays or events are always welcome to be suggested and discussed with the board as a whole /o/ And hopefully we'll have info on all of these soon, I'm sorry about the wait ! CrowlinGallanusIn Novus, there wouldn't be open farmlands no. Novus is actually the center hub city that is the most advanced as far as development goes for all the other cities. Food is grown in contained greenhouses, though other cities could very possibly have farm land! As for the trees, middle class and upper would very much be nicely decorated with trees and other plants. Lower class would have some as well, a park here or there, but nothing so lavish as the other classes would have. Private greenhouses and gardens on the tops of buildings would be entirely possible, as well as people growing their own plants in different classes. You'd just see them more frequently in higher classes. The Slums get mold :V /hit Aquariums and Zoos would be a thing, yes! As well as plant houses and the like. They would be found in the luxury district for Middle Class so everyone could have access o7 Places to swim are also a thing! Similar to the plants though, they would be much more common in higher class areas. Where as lower class might have a small community pool, upper class would have lavish pools and even a manmade ocean that could be explored in the biodomes. |

What's the state of health care in Novus? It is universal free for all or do individuals pay for their own? Are lower classes exempt from getting their care covered? Would Scavengers only ever have access to back alley doctors and be turned away from legitimate clinics? That stuff.

LeveninHi dear o/ To answer your question Novus has universal healthcare but there are flaws. The higher you are in class the easier the access is (shorter wait, more resources and so on) however the lower you are, the longer the wait (free clinics with long waits and competition with resources). Scavengers do not have access to this, however if they can find a clinic willing to work under the radar they can get work done that way (but remember that is illegal and risky) or also black market deals.

Are there any ways to hide one's identity for a long period of time? If someone were to be caught by the cops (and not killed immediately by the SP), could they have a way of hiding their identity for a longer period of time (assuming their face is hidden in some way by say a helmet that's hard to remove)? Or do you have no chance of anonymity the moment you get busted?

Okay, so this is gonna be pasted from the Skype conversation where I brought this up so...
Varmun: So hey, funny idea: I might have an excuse for why Aigis will speak poor German when I bring her to re:DUX. What if she discovers old books and videos in German and tries to learn the language? Then she and I can be in sync because I'm trying to learn German. Lol
Nama: Would this mean German is a dead language in this universe? I actually kinda want clarification on that stuff in general lol

Nama: Like there are cultures and ethnicities but... I remember somewhere that nationality isn't a thing? Like you're Chinese descent but not Chinese from China because I assume China as a country doesn't exist anymore. And since there are set scattered cities everywhere, does each have its own official language based on where it is? Like Novus's is English so having non-English speakers is actually kind of unusual, like immigrants are still noticeable for not being native to the city? Because a lot of Elgen's backstory is that he's not from Novus and because kids are mean, he got picked on often until he started punching faces in lol. And originally on IAV, Lev/Stef actually spoke English along with conversational French and Chinese lol. But how would that work now? It's one of those "is it unrealistic to know multiple languages" kinda things lol

Silly question, but I need to know for important reasons aha. if someone is severely addicted to magic and stop taking it/go through withdrawals, can those effects last a lifetime? And will they suffer wanting it forever (like an addict in real life)?

How does the legal system work in Novus (vaguely) at least? I'm assuming corrupt obviously, but would there still be much for like.. courts and lawyers and stuff? I might have some fun ideas for SomiWould civilians ever get pulled for jury duty  ? |

Sorry for the wait on these!! IsaacThere would be multiple ways to hide your identity if compromised. Having disposable IDs to filter out, or things to scramble scanners would be able to maintain anonymity for a time. Helmets / masks would also be entirely possible, even more so if they have masking tech built into them so scanners for IDs won't work. Just like IRL, there would be a time for how long these things could work before someone's true identity was discovered, but there are way to avoid it! Though, you're asking if they've actually been detained - right? If someone has already been caught and brought to jail, there wouldn't really be a way to stop their identity from being discovered. Fingerprints, DNA tests, and scans could be used so even if someone tried to stop it, they can't do much once actually captures. About like IRL for us. You can run, but once you're caught it's trouble. LeveninAll languages we have now, spoken and otherwise (ASL and written, for example) are still very much alive and around! In Novus, the main language is called 'Universal' - which is a combination of other languages meant to make communication between parties easier even if someone don't speak the specific languages. Universal would also be taught in schools in Novus, with others being similar to electives. Some cities would have languages other than Universal as their main one, such as German, English, or Japanese, and accents / immigrants to Novus would be widespread and known. Knowing multiple languages would also be a very possible thing, as well as only knowing one - just like us now \o/ So all your language things totally works out. TeddyYep, strays are totally fine! And if you're wanting a pet that's slightly mutated just post it in the IC changes section and we can approve things for you ! dorianYes, permanent effects are entirely possible! Depending on the severity of the addiction, the intensity would of course vary, as well as the desire. If someone was wealthy enough there could be rehab centers that would lessen the effects as well. astarothThe legal system is pretty similar to a basic court proceeding, with lawyers, jury, judge, etc. Cases are typically done by the Common Police, so there would be a judge and everything. Jury duty is entirely possible, and would typically consist of people from a higher class than the person being judged. So if someone is Lower Class, then Middle and above would sit in for those cases. The SP acts as the judge, jury, and executioner. So they can do anything they want, or take a court over. Though, taking it over without some sort of cover wouldn't be very inconspicuous of them. |
