And she called him greedy, really. And what was 'when needed', honestly. As far as the Secret Police were considered that was almost always. It did make him curious how often she peered in on his affairs though. He'd say he was curious about hers as well, but he could guess what they consisted of pretty easily. Work, eating, sleeping, work, work, getting angry at others for not doing work, work, and so on. He didn't envy Kendra's underwhelming lifestyle. "Oh do you still have one of those? I would have thought you replaced it with carbon fiber for efficiency." And that wasn't entirely incorrect. Magic did wonders to make people happy. "Then I'm sorry your memory is so poor. That seems like a troubling disadvantage to have in your field." Like he'd said, she wasn't always truthful to herself. "Did you practice those lines in a mirror or is that your natural charm?" He let her move him around easily, yawning slightly as she did so. "Your dancing skills leave something to be desired. But if you'd like to entertain me Kendra, go ahead. It's always nice to see you fail at something."

There had been… Temptations to look into his life. It wasn't something she acted on unless requirements came up, but she did want to hear him speak occasionally. To hear just how forceful he could be. A silly notion, but with how their roles were it wasn't something she could quite get out of her head. Damn it all, maybe she was into the role reversal thing. And she did other things! Really, there were totally things she did outside of working and eating and sleeping.
"I've been tempted. It's much tougher than the usual muscle tissue and can take abuse." Magic wasn't something she decided to partake in often. It felt amazing, but she didn't want to get caught up in the whirlwind of feeling invincible. Not again.
"You claim I'm not honest, but have you see yourself lately?" She was truthful to herself - What wouldn't she be truthful about? "And yes actually. I've been practicing them for years just for you."
Her right arm moved to loop around his back and brace him while a sweet smile painted over her face.
"So cruel, Sam. And here I was trying so hard to keep your evening pleasurable." Her left arm moved to rest on his chest, her body pressing closer to his. "You wanted something exciting, didn't you?"
A snap echoed across the room and she shoved them both down onto the ground just as the first scream broke out across the room. Her knees hit the ground hard as she covered him with her body, right hand snatching the gun off her hip when she twisted and fired three times in quick succession. One body down, but she didn't know how many were left. They needed to leave.

Oh, now wasn't that sweet. And also somewhat obsessive. He did have a phone built into his head just like everyone else. And he'd be more than happy to oblige if she wanted him to order her about. Surprising she knew what she was into though, since he was fairly sure her list of relationships was still completely barren. And ah, he'd like to see some examples of what else she did with her life before he believed that. "I didn't realize your heart was so fragile. Has the poor thing been abused?" Wouldn't Kendra with a broken heart be terribly interesting to see. Even moreso though would be her on Magix. Or his own brand of magic. Whatever set her off more. "Are you implying I speak anything but exactly what is on my mind? Now you're just trying to slander me. And oh dear. I'd no idea you were this talentless. How high did you score on the Test again?" Was this really necessary? Was pretending they were about to get hot and heavy going to stop people from trying to hurt him or anyone else? It wasn't like Vigilantes were going to respect their privacy and move on. "If you're talking about your horrific seduction techniques, I think we might have to find a more suiting word than 'exciting'." And ah, there it went off. Samuel frowned as she pushed him to the ground, his glass flying out of his hand. "You could have at least let me finish my drink." He glanced passively towards the area where she'd fired, but stayed in his position on the ground. "My, how terrible."

But where was the fun in calling? That was assuming he'd even answer. Couldn't give him the satisfaction for her taking time out her day just to listen to him prattle on about something. Of course he would be more than happy to order her around. Maybe it was something he'd get off to, she didn't know. And really, someone could know what they wanted even if they hadn't been with anyone. Preferences were most certainly a thing.
"Sorry, I don't kiss and tell." His desire to see her in different 'interesting' ways would have struck her as odd if she hadn't known him for so long. It was just one of his quirks, and something she didn't try to think on too deeply. Couldn't let herself think she was special, now could she?
"High enough to deal with your ass." High enough to claw her way out of the Slums.
While the little display she put on wasn't entirely necessary, it did create an advantage for their positioning. With how short she was compared to him, anything to help was useful.
"I'll buy you another drink later tonight, and try new seduction techniques once we're out of here." She didn't miss a beat as she turned to straddle him with her back facing his head, gun raised and held with both hands before she fired. A clean headshot, and the body fell to the ground before they could attack another person. Much as she loved her blade, it didn't help at long range.
"Move out from under me and keep cover behind my back. We move to the right and back. Main exit. They'll block the emergency exits. Understand?"

Oh, of course he'd answer for his dear 'partner'. He might not hold on a conversation if she didn't have anything interesting to say, but he would at least pick up. Really, what did she take him for? And couldn't that accusation be turned around on her just as easily? He could very easily see her enjoying being ordered around as well. "Easily said when you have nothing to tell." And didn't she have those same curiosities, though? So eager to see how he reacted in different situations, after all. "Oh, I'm flattered. I'd no idea I merited such a privilege." And was this really advantageous? Sure it covered some of him, but it left his head completely free to be shot at. And much as he was sure she was glad his lower regions were protected, he valued his brain a bit more highly. "I had no idea you were such a tease." He sighed again as she turned to shoot once more, his gaze drifting up to the ceiling. "I hope this isn't the seduction technique you were talking about. You have the idea right and yet have failed the execution so terribly." And oh, was she ordering him about now? He didn't really like the idea of cowering behind her. Given her height it would be positively terrible for his posture. But he rolled out from underneath her, pushing himself to his feet and brushing off his clothes. Those orders were well and lovely, but...rather distasteful. Well, she'd protect him no matter what happened, no? It was what she was getting paid for, after all. So Samuel began smoothly strolling towards the main entrance, hands in his pockets. And, oh. How delightful. Someone had left their drink while they were fleeing. He swiped it casually and began sipping it while he continued to walk. Kendra could deal with everything herself, no?

There were moments when Kendra questioned her own sanity, especially when it came to Samuel. In most cases, when someone asked if they could have your disembodied arm, it would raise some red flags and make a person want to distance themselves from the asker. Meanwhile, there she was, diving in headfirst to deal with him at every possible turn. She really was a masochist.
"Only 25, Samuel. I have enough time to tell you still." She might have been very slightly curious how he reacted to things. With how little he seemed to care about things happening around him the thoughts were exciting at times. The position kept him down so she could pick people off before they got a shot at him, wasn't that enough? And she was too focused on the weapon in her hands to realize what the position could imply. Until he spoke.
"Not right now, Samuel!" The last thing she needed was him breaking her concentration by making her face red. Dealing with the screams was bad enough. She felt him move out from under her and shifted up onto her knees to make it easier on him, her eyes flicking over to him once she realized what he was doing.
Her jaw dropped.
He was just... Strolling out.
The only thing that snapped her back was a shard of glass cutting open her cheek, a look of rage coming over her face.
Oh she was going to fucking kill him. She was going to smother him in his own clothing and strangle him with her coat. Thankfully, there were others fighting and it gave her enough of a break to follow after him while she reloaded her gun.
"You ass." She muttered under her breath once she caught up enough with him to cover him should she need to while members of the Common Police poured in the cover the escape of stragglers.

She was the one who'd called the whole arm thing 'romantic' back when she'd lost it, no? Those were her words, not his. And besides it wasn't like he was doing anything terribly odd with the limb. He'd kept it in perfectly good condition and had been using it to help with the development of some of the prosthetics he made. And besides, it wasn't like he kept it next to his bed. It stayed in its preservation cell in his lab at all times. Nothing odd about that at all.
"That's about what you said 2 years ago, right? My concern only grows larger." It would have been curious to know what she imagined went on inside his head, though. She tended to have quite the overactive imagination, after all. And had she really not realized the implications of that position? Considering they'd been 'flirting' just moments earlier, his feelings were terribly hurt. "Ah, did those words mean nothing to you?" Whatever, she could handle a bit of a concentration break. She was a big bad Secret Police officer, no? If a bit of flirting was enough to break their defenses than perhaps they should be reconsidering their training regiment.
He hoped she didn't actually try to kill him, though. That would be a terrible violation of their contract. But also probably entirely legal given her Secret Police status. So mainly it would just be rude. He glanced sideways as she moved near him, eyes flicking back towards the door. "You have a little something on your face, by the way." Nothing Novigel wouldn't fix. Then again, she might let it scar just for the sake of adding another mark to her arsenal. But it seemed easy enough for them to head through the entrance now. Most people had either escaped or died by now, right? But he'd let Kendra get the door, just to be sure it wasn't trapped or anything of the sort. "Would you bring the car around? Or call the driver, if he's still alive, I suppose."

They has known each other for... What, six years now? Yeah, that sounded about right. Working on year seven. If her timelines were correct - and they typically were - she would have thought Samuel would have understood her sense of humor by then. The fact he actually had her disembodied arm stashed away in some jar hidden in his lab might have struck others are a touch odd. Maybe she should ask people what they thought of that, because two years was a long damn time to keep an arm.
A bit of banter wasn't enough to break her concentration, but it didn't help her thoughts once she was back to being alone. Her thoughts had gotten confusing over the past few months, and she wasn't quite sure what to make of them. Work helped to drown out those pesky intrusive images.
"Did they mean anything to you?" Her brow raised in question, left hand rising to swipe at the blood on her cheek.
Her hand dropped down towards the door, easily pushing it open without incident. Sloppy, she had to admit. The vigilantes hadn't been very prepared. They were taken down easily, and hadn't even rigged the door. A new faction? She'd have to look into that - but first she needed to finish her night with Samuel.
The flirting between them felt like it had gotten a touch stronger over the last year or so. Though, it was entirely possible she was imagining things. This was Samuel, after all. He did this so easily and with so little deep thought. Or, well maybe it was just that he had no filter. Kendra sighed and stood to the side so he could walk past.
"Really, if you're so concerned with my age being an issue, why don't you fix it yourself?" She commented on his observation from before, eyes cast to the side as she began to ring the driver for the evening. They should have been fine, at least she hoped so. Kendra wasn't much in the mood to drive.

That could be directed right back at her, no? She should know by now to watch her words around him. If something was more advantageous for him if taken at face value, then that was exactly how he would interpret it. And he thought he'd made it very clear he didn't keep it in a jar. It would have hardly kept well that way, and would have been a pain to pull out of storage for observation as well. He was slightly offended she thought him so sloppy.
And oh dear, was she thinking about him? He was touched. He didn't much see the need to on his own behalf though. Mostly because if he ever did desire to see her he could just snap his fingers and she'd come running. "Ah, I asked first." Was her memory that short? Or did she just not know the basic rules of conversation. Probably the latter.
He walked through the door as she held it open, downing the last of the drink before the glass off to the side. Well, there were probably enough broken glasses in there from the bullets anyways. One more would hardly hurt them. Not that he would have much cared if it did. He pulled his holoscreen out of his pocket as they waited for his driver, scrolling through the information there. He wondered how long until the news started reporting on this. Or perhaps the Secret Police would keep it hush hush until it could reported to cause the most hatred towards Vigilantes. Well, not his issue. "What are you offering?" He asked casually, his eyes still on the screen as he kept reading. "To fix it, I mean." He wasn't really feeling like giving out freebies tonight. And what was taking his driver so long? It was cold out here and he didn't much like waiting.

"It might have." She shrugged and watched as he tossed the glass aside, a sigh leaving her. Such a careless man when it came to others and things. Anything to please him. She knew the 'flirting' was baseless and simply chatter between them - nothing more. She knew not to take it as such.
"Offering?" She blinked for a moment, unsure what exactly he meant. Even with the clarification, she still didn't quite grasp the meaning behind his words. Once the car pulled up however, she finally understood the meaning of his words. What was she offering him in exchange for a kiss.
Her hand rose to cover her mouth, shoulders shaking while she fought off the laughter that threatened to spill out into the night air. Right, right, this was Samuel. How could she have forgotten. Her hand continued to stay over her mouth as she opened the door for him, waiting for him to slide into the back before she followed after him. All they needed to do was get back to his place, and she was home free. Unless he needed her to stay the night for some reason.
"Ah, right, right. I need to answer you still, don't I?" A touch of laughter fell from her lips after she spoke, shaking her head in partial disbelief. Asking what she was offering in exchange for such a thing - the audacity. What did she expect? Him to just take hold of her and kiss her? A stupid thought, and entirely baseless. The useless running of her mind towards things that wouldn't happen.
"How about my other arm, hm? You already have the left one in a jar by your bed, so why not have the complete set?"
Sarcasm, hopefully clear enough from the way she looked away and tried to stifle her giggling. As if he would actually kiss her. A silly notion. They were partners. Nothing more, nothing less. Sometimes she needed a reminder of that fact. Samuel typically provided.
