"Not exactly a decisive answer. Are you uncertain?" Kendra had never really been the type to think before she spoke, after all. At least not much around him. And what did one glass matter to her? It would have most certainly been broken if left in the room as well. He was just helping to carry it to its inevitable face.
She seemed somewhat confused by his own words though. Perhaps he should elaborate a bit further? And...oh dear, was she going into shock? That wasn't a very good trait in a bodyguard. He frowned slightly, moving into the car as she opened the door for him. Oh how nice, his driver was still alive. Always a hassle to find a new that didn't question things much, so that was convenient. "That is generally how one carries on a conversation, yes. Are you sure you didn't hit your head while we were in there?" His frown deepened as she continued onwards. "It's not a jar, I've told you as much. I do think we need to get your head checked."
His eyebrows did raise slightly at her offer. "While I wouldn't reject, it seems a bit of a large offer for something so small. I'd think you might want actual sex for a payment like that. But I'm flattered you value my lips so highly."

"I'm certain about a lot of things, actually." One being that he was an ass. He was right, though. She didn't much think about what she might have said around him. A dangerous thing to do - but she didn't seem to be stopping any time soon. It simply meant that he would have to put up with her sharp tongue.
Ah, but was that a frown she caught? She wasn't sure what she liked more. His smile, or his frown. More than likely the frown seeing as it typically was an indication that she wasn't going to be subjected to too many horrid things. Usually.
"Jar or not, I've been calling it that for two years now. Really, seeing as it's my arm in there I feel entitled to call it what I like. Does that bother you, Samuel dear?" She turned towards him and flashed a sarcastic smile while her arms and legs crossed. She leaned back against the seat, her eyes trained forward until he spoke again. She scoffed.
"I'm not going to pay you for sex, Samuel. If it happens between us, it happens. You have more than enough at your fingertips to not need anything from me for that." Kendra cast a glance over at him, a brow raised. "Really though, once wouldn't be nearly enough for my arm as payment."

"But I'm asking about this specific thing. Keep up, Kendra." She could be so painfully ignorant sometimes. Sometimes he wondered what miracle had even gotten her into the Upper Class in the first place. But please, he could handle a sharp tongue. It was a dull wit that really irritated him. And he hardly saw the logic in that. Wouldn't he put her through much worse things when he was unhappy with her? It was certainly what he did with others.
"No, it's my arm now, not yours. That's what happens when you give a possession away Kendra. And it makes me sound...unsanitary and idiotic." He wrinkled his nose slightly. "I have a reputation to uphold, which I know is a hard concept for you to grasp, dear." And besides, as he'd said, she had no right to it anymore.
"I never said I wanted money, did I? Really." He had more than enough of that, so it was hardly interesting anymore. "And there's no need for you to get so terribly defensive, you were the one who asked me to fix it. Don't get upset with me because you're feeling a tad desperate tonight. Why is that, by the way? Does getting shot at get you going? Because that is quite the extreme form of masochism. And for the record, how many times your arm would pay for is something that would be determined by how much of a pain in the ass you are about it, I believe."

"I enjoy our exchanges, what can I say? It's been years and you still keep my attention." Not that he would allow for anything else. She was his guard, after all. His partner. His friend? She wasn't quite sure on that last one.
"I was unaware a severed arm counted as a possession." Seeing as it was Samuel, it made sense. "I don't exactly spread the fact you've got my arm locked up in a jar by your bedside. I'd hate to ruin your relationships and social standing. You know, outside of the drugs and such. I'm with you to keep you safe, not spread anything about your strange obsession over me." Her voice dripped with sarcasm, so hopefully he understood the fact she was joking. Besides, there was nothing wrong with a bit of dirt. It gave character.
"Did I ever mention money? Payment comes in many forms. I'm sure you know better than most." She turned towards him, arm propped on the back of the seat as she leaned a bit closer. Maybe gun fights did get her blood pumping. It was a nice break from the monotony of life. "If I were desperate I wouldn't still be here with you, now would I? Seems you're reaching a bit further than usual. Something you need to tell me?"
A soft ring of laughter shook through, her hand moving through her bangs. Her face still felt warm from the rush of using her weapon, and she couldn't quite crush the smile that kept threatening to spread across her face. "So if I'm a 'good girl' I'd get more from you, hm?"

"Still not really answering the question. And not entirely sure how comforting it is to hear I keep the attention of a Secret Police member. Or is the attention entirely unrelated?" Friend was an odd word. He supposed it could fit them in some sense. She'd called him her best friend a couple years ago, no? Still not really a good sign of her social life if that held true even now.
"Well then I'm glad to enlighten you. I mean once its off of you its finders keepers anyways, right? At least I was polite enough to ask." And have her sign various papers giving it over to him when she'd been particularly loopy on pain meds. He wasn't sure if she remembered that, but that was all fine by him. "And still not a jar. And remember, the drugs are our little secret. Well, ours and the rest of the Secret Police's. Point being most Upper Class people don't look at me and think 'drug dealer', which is a valuable asset to have. As for obsessions, I believe I could compile a reasonable enough pile of evidence to turn that around on you."
"Many forms, most of which I don't accept. Just because something is a 'form' of payment doesn't actually mean it's at all valuable." He scoffed slightly. Some of the things people had tried to pay him with, really. "No, that's not logical. Particularly if you're desperate for me specifically or would just rather have a go at the nearest thing than take the effort to search one out elsewhere. So you could still be counted as desperate. As for telling you things, I still believe we should get your head checked out." He sighed somewhat, rolling his eyes at her question. "There are ways to display your kinks in far more subtle manners, Kendra. My point simply being that whatever payment you would give me would 'buy' a certain amount of effort on my behalf. And some acts and responses require far more effort than others. Would you like me to spell it out for you more plainly or can you understand that much?"

"I meant less work related attention this time, but think whatever you like. And don't worry, the drugs is still our little secret from most of the world." There was no reason to slander him. He kept his end of the deal, and she kept him in line. That simple.
Wow that was... Even more than she was willing to take. A scoff left Kendra's lips while she pushed off the seat. Her body angled slightly away from him, arms and legs crossed once he finished speaking. She had gotten used to Samuel breaking out the 'business talk', but that didn't mean she ever enjoyed it. If anything, all it did was piss her off and sour a perfectly decent mood.
"You're right. Getting my head checked is a wonderful idea." It might explain why she had such a welling sense of disappointment in her chest from how he was talking. But they were partners. Contacts. She was his keeper. Sometimes it was easy enough to forget.
"Will you be fine alone tonight, or do you require me to keep you company?" Back to business, if that's how he wanted it. This was why she didn't let her guard down often. This was why she kept serious. People were frustrating.

"Then should I say I'm flattered? Or perhaps I should put up my guard? Secret Police or not I can't say the attention of Kendra Saunders is something easily gained. You might be up to something nefarious." He laughed lightly, not caring much about the sudden change in her posture. It seemed he'd upset her, though he couldn't imagine why. He didn't much think her the type to enjoy someone lying to her, so he'd opted for the more honest route. Perhaps she was looking for reasons to be unhappy. It wasn't unlikely, given her...disposition.
"I'm more than capable of running a scan back at my lab if you'd like." And maybe a few other tests that she wouldn't notice. Nothing that would harm her, of course. Probably. "Well do you know the source of the attack tonight? I figure that would help you discern whether at I'm at any further risk or not. Though figuring that out in the first place was supposed to be your job, not mine. Also, why exactly are you upset? You're less than adept at masking your feelings quite frankly and you seem...disappointed. What were you expecting from that exchange, precisely?"

"Nefarious in relation to my drug dealing black market contact." She scoffed at his laugh, almost tempted to roll her eyes. She did value honestly, but there were just some points where she would rather he just shut the fuck up instead of droning on and on about how sad her life happened to be in his mind. Didn't much help the mood.
"I doubt the scans you want to do would help. And you might try and take samples." She didn't need him to poke and prod her in such a way. Especially not when she was liable to snap at him. Keeping control happened to be a thing Kendra enjoyed to do.
"Give me a moment and I'll check the reports." She crossed her arms a bit tighter while bringing up the recent reports with her NUIP, scanning over the information. Inclusive. Her tongue clicked. She'd have to stay to be sure, damn his position in society.
"Seems I'm staying the night." She honestly wished she didn't need to. But making certain her job went off without a hitch happened to be important. "Also, I'm not upset. I'm frustrated with the fact you're such an ass at times to me."

"Oh I doubt I'm the only thing dastardly about your life. No rules and all that, I'm sure you get up to some very naughty things." More people were probably dead because of her than him, and he did believe that was saying something. And was he not allowed to find things funny now? My my, the Secret Police really were cracking down.
"No, the scans themselves wouldn't do much. Not really in their nature. But they'd let me know if there were any other injuries or possible areas that might need attention. Also, do samples really hurt you?" What she didn't know about her biological tissue wouldn't much hurt her, after all. Besides, she shed hairs and skin cells every day and paid no mind. Why was it suddenly a crime when he wanted some of them? Oh dear though, she seemed terribly annoyed at the idea of staying with him. And here he'd thought they'd been having such a nice evening.
"Upset and frustrated are generally understood to be the same thing. And how exactly do you figure that? I am as honest as honest can be with you, and most people would consider that a virtue. Would you like that I lie to you? Because while I am capable of that I think we would both discover it to be terribly dull and I would no doubt find myself in rather hot water because of it. It's your job to make sure I am truthful, after all."

"I enforce the laws of our city and keep its citizens safe and under control. I investigate murders and shut down rebellions that wish to destroy the structure that has kept us alive for over 500 years. So if you consider that 'naughty', then yes. I'm a naughty, naughty little police officer." She had enough blood on her hands to make the streets run red. It was her job. And she was good at her job.
"I'll get my prosthetic doctor to scan me the next time I go see her. And the samples might not hurt, but I also don't have any idea what you're doing with them." Why he needed her samples, she didn't much care. There were others out there. Certainly she had good DNA, but he could work with what he had in that arm of hers. After all... Finders Keepers, right?
"Upset implies sadness. Frustration implies anger. There's a difference for those two emotions, unless you were unaware." The bastard. Honestly was something she was grateful for, even if his brand happened to be so... Unfiltered, for a nice way to put it. "You told me to exchange something with you for a kiss, or whatever else. Not exactly the most kind thing to do."
