"Not having preferences is still a preference. I'm curious what those tastes of your are - But that's none of my business really." She shrugged at him commenting on her lack of experience. "I'm only 21, Samuel. Not having a vast vault of experience doesn't much matter to me. There are more important things than swapping spit with people. Besides, I've not really found someone to capture my interest."
She blinked at him, pulled her hand away and glanced down at it. "It's honestly habit. I've been doing it as long as I can remember. Just something my mother taught me that stuck, I guess. Polite to not have boisterous laughter." Though her slightly carefree expression quickly fell. "If it's so dreadful, why suffer through it? And you're not supposed to agree so readily." He made no damn sense sometimes.
A hand moved to her forehead, eyes closing to match the dramatic expression he was putting on. "Yes, a true tragedy. How I've retained my social status, I'll never know." For someone that said things were dreadful when with her, he seemed to laugh more than enough. Her fingers thread through her bangs, letting them naturally fall while she adjusted and went back to normal as well.
"Ah, well then. That sounds fine. I was just under the impression you'd not be doing so." She shrugged. Confusing man. Walking had never been an issue for her, so whatever. It wasn't as if it meant anything. Really though, saying she wasn't cute. So mean. "I'm guessing the scars is what leads to the debatable cuteness. I'll get them removed eventually. And it might have been a brag. I didn't get top marksman awards for no reason. Even I can brag sometimes."

"I suppose that's true enough, yes. And ah, but what fun would it be if I just gave it away?" He didn't really care about it staying private or not, but it wouldn't be amusing to just list off the things he liked. "Well, it's not vital yes. But if you wait too long it will be awkward trying to start things with others, I think. Most others would have some experience by then, I think. Know what they want etcetera etcetera."
"Ah so you do have a mother. And here I'd thought you'd spawned from the abyss." He mused jokingly, but shrugged his shoulders. "I can't say I see the reason for it. Laughter is hardly a bother unless you can't continue on a conversation because of it." Ah dear, did he upset her? "That's what some would call teasing, Kendra. Also, don't ask a question if you don't want to hear the answer. It's pointless."
"I do have some measure of manners running through me, shocking as that may be to believe. Well, the scars and the previously mentioned scowl. Are you the type to worry about being cute? I didn't take you for it. And oh I'm sorry." He leaned forward, grabbing his jacket from the front and offering it to her. "Would you like to take some of my rewards and relive your glory days? I don't have as many medals as you did, but I hope they're acceptable for your glorious personage." He laughed, but lowered the jacket slightly as he glanced outside. Ah, they were here. He dropped it on the seat and opened the door to the car, offering his hand to help Kendra out before turning the venue.
Bright lights lit up the outside, mostly cool colors shifting over the constantly changing surfaces of the wall. The inside was lit up in much the same way, although with slightly less shifting panels to stop itself from becoming disorienting. Music could be heard drifting from the inside, but that would be from the club area of the venue. The private rooms were upstairs, and they could choose to turn on the music for themselves if they so wished. A nice enough place, if he did say so himself.

"Is that a challenge for me to find out for myself?" She raised a brow at him. Discovering things for yourself certainly did make the situation more interesting, but this was Samuel. Figuring out his preferences didn't really seem like anything she'd be doing anytime soon, if ever. "I think I'm just fine, really. Jumping into something with another person doesn't seem like a good idea anyway." She didn't need anyone else.
"Ah yes, the abyss. My beautiful mother. How I miss the void." She glanced over at him and blinked slightly, unsure how to take what he said. Kendra didn't enjoy needlessly drawing attention to herself. She wasn't flashy, she wasn't a beacon of light. She was just someone that wanted to survive - No matter what. "Teasing, huh? With your follow up point, I wonder if it's actually teasing."
Samuel with manners though. It was a bit hard to remember. She had grown so used to his lack of a filter. "Some people find scars attractive. Mind you, I've not met many, but that's not the point." Being concerned with cuteness wasn't something she really cared about. She knew she wasn't cute. And it wasn't something she wanted to be anyway. A hand rose towards the coat, coming up short when he looked outside. Ah, so they had arrived. Her arm dropped, fingers curling into a ball.
She placed her hand into his, after staring at it for a moment and contemplating if she actually wanted to touch him. Though, she did have her gloves on so it was fine. With a smooth movement, she exited the car, her hand remaining in his without much realizing it.
"So are we going the dance room route, or were you hoping for privacy for the two of us?"

"Well, that would certainly be amusing. I don't think you'd be able to manage it, though." Best not to set herself on a road for disappointment. "True, but it's not going to be any better if you wait too long and have no clue what you're getting into when they know all the ropes already." But eh, it wasn't anything that needed to be pursued much longer. If Kendra would rather play the lone ranger, then that was her choice. As long as it didn't interfere with her helping him, it wasn't anything he needed to worry about. It wasn't as if she could be so repelling to potential lovers for too much longer, after all.
And it was possible to laugh without placing yourself in the spotlight, surprisingly enough. Laughter wasn't exactly going to point you out as an assassination target. "It was teasing, but I figured I might as well make a point with it. Are you afraid I don't like you?" He didn't particularly think she was. "And not many people throwing themselves bodily at your feet from the mere sight of your scars? I'm shocked, utterly shocked." She wasn't wrong, that some people found them attractive. But usually you needed some positive qualities to go along with them as well.
He dropped her hand once they were outside the car, moving through the doors the attendants held open for them. "There are dance floors in the private rooms. Smaller, of course. But I wouldn't want to subject unwitting victims to your dancing. Food is better with the private dining as well." He began climbing the stairs, the noise from the music below fading slightly as they entered the more silent area. They'd be gone completely once they were in a room, but as he'd said they could choose to let it filter in through speakers or choose their own music. Samuel nodded at an attendant as they lead the two of them towards one of the rooms, making his way inside quickly.

Disappointment was the least of Kendra's worries when it came to him. Really though, why was he concerned with her love life? If she came across someone, and they didn't accept the fact she had no experience, then they weren't worth her time. Simple as that. Hopefully him commenting on those things would stop sooner rather than later.
"Ah, I'm--" She cut herself off, brow knitting together once he let go of her hand and she pulled it back. She hadn't realized she was still holding on. Not that it really mattered. She didn't even know why she grabbed his hand in the first place. "How thoughtful to save the masses. I'm impressed." She slipped back into her usual mood, and with a shake of her head she followed after him.
Once inside the room, she made certain the door was closed before beginning to take her coat off. Her wrist length leather gloves were soon enough taken off as well, folded and placed into the pocket of her coat before she placed it on the back of a chair. Simple enough, and it left her in a simple enough black dress.
"Not bad, I'll admit. I'll have to hold you to the better food bit, though."

It wasn't that he was concerned about someone rejecting her for her lack of experience. Quite the opposite, really. It was easier to take advantage of someone who hadn't the slightest idea of what they were doing. But as he'd said, he'd let it rest ( more or less ) for now. He liked to think she was capable of solving her own problem sooner rather than later.
He glanced at her as she began speaking, but looked away when she stopped. No reason to pay attention if she didn't think it was worth finishing. And she'd grabbed his hand because he'd offered it to her to help her exit the vehicle. Was she so far removed from society she didn't recognize a common gesture like that? That was worrisome. "I do my best to assist the citizens of Novus, what can I say."
Samuel glanced around the room as they entered it, giving it a quick evaluation. Blue and green lights played over slightly curved white surfaces, although half of the floor was wood to mark the dance section. Rather than a traditional dinner setup, a curved couch and a soft chair or two were gathered around a glass table in the corner. There was a quiet sort of music playing currently, but he saw no need to turn it up for now. "Well it's not exactly a sit down sort of meal. We can order plenty of things, certainly, but this place specializes in lots of smaller dishes rather than one main meal. Take your pick from the menu, it is all rather delicious."

Taking advantage of her wouldn't prove quite as easy as he imagined. If he really thought so little of her self control, then not letting him know if she met anyone would be for the best. And it wasn't much of a problem, not to her at least.
It was less the fact of a common gesture and more the point of her accepting it. Though she wasn't going to share details with him in that regard. A bit too personal for her tastes.
"Such a gentleman. What would I do without you." The room was nice. Comfortable. And he hadn't been kidding about the dance floor. She might have been a bit nervous, but she didn't let it show.
"Seeing as I'm paying, I'd hope I could take my pick." Kendra raised a brow at him before settling down on the couch, legs crossed over while she pulled up the menu. Her eyes scanned over the items on the holoscreen, pressing a few things when they caught her fancy. She was in the mood for sweet and salty. And hard alcohol. "I hope you don't mind if I drink. Celebration and all."

But it was hard to prepare yourself for something you'd never experienced before, no? Kendra was very skilled in disciplining herself, but from what he could tell it lead to a certain amount of repression of her emotions. He didn't think she would deal with them quite so easily when they became stronger than she could control. And it was fine that she felt no need to share details about taking his hand. He'd hardly asked, after all.
"Suffer without laughter in your life, clearly." And yes, it was simple enough while still having a nice mood to it. Of course, the lighting and all that could be easily changed, but he didn't much care to do it. Why would he lie about the dance floor though? He had no doubt seeing her attempt to dance would be a wonderful present. Shame he probably couldn't convince her to actually try a strip tease, but just watching her fail at regular dancing would be just as entertaining.
"Not everyone gets the things they hope for, you know." He pulled up his own screen, quickly selecting a few items he already knew before letting it flicker away. "Not at all, I got a drink for myself as well. But I suppose this means I can rest at ease that you haven't secretly been on duty this whole time. I would guess drinking on the job is frowned upon."

All she had to do was steel herself and everything would be fine. Like he thought, she repressed her emotions. It took a lot to make her finally crack, so a little bit more wouldn't hurt her much at all.
"Suffer, suffer. So much suffering without you. You're so right." Warm colors were typically what she gravitated towards, but the blues were nice and calming. There wasn't going to be anything 'heated', so reds would be a waste. Too bright. And seeing as he would be wanting her to dance, at least it could mask things a bit better. A strip tease though, god. She'd die from embarrassment. His laughter would be enough to make her want to bury herself for five years.
"Like I said before, I'm got the day off. Even I can take a moment to breathe. Hard to believe, I know." Kendra said with a laugh. Her arms stretched over her head, a content sigh leaving her before settling back down and crossing her arms over her lap. "So does this mean we're going to get drunk together? Or just enough to have a buzz."

Well those were some famous last words if he ever heard them. There was always a straw that broke the camel's back, wasn't there? He didn't much think she had any plan for what to do when she did crack, just ideas to keep it from happening in the first place. Which was not a solid plan at all. Well, at this point he could only hope he was there for when she did breakdown. It had the potential to be hilarious.
"I tend to be more often than not, yes. It is a wonder how you survived the past year without me." Reds were nice in certain atmospheres, but other than that warm colors usually felt tacky to him. But he didn't come here to critique the finer points of interior design. But yes, that embarrassment was precisely why he'd be so interested to see it in the first place. After all it wasn't like she would actually manage to be sexy at all.
"Just making sure I've not landed myself in any trouble already." Well, nice to see her relaxing, he supposed. He had commented that she didn't seem the type to do it much. "How about we both just drink as much as we want to? I don't much see the point of coordinating it unless we're playing a game. And if we do that I think we'll be too distracted to dance, and I'd hate to miss a chance to see you make a fool of yourself."
