"You seem to be pretty wishy-washy." She felt no reason to hold back, especially not while they were so close together. He had shortcomings, and so did she. Blaming things on him just happened to be pretty easy.
"I might have drank a bit too quickly." Her face was still red while she rushed the words, making certain to not look at him. Her reflexes were fine normally. If anything, they were top notch and could only improve.
"Samuel!" She gasped out his name, legs instantly wrapping around his hips and her arms clinging to his neck. She hated being picked up. She knew it was silly, but the fact of her feet being off the ground never really helped her to feel comfortable. "Put me down, I swear to god. I asked you not..." She pulled back with a huff, cutting herself off when she realized just how close their faces were. "Not to pick me up."

"Should I be offended? Or am I proving your point by asking." Well, he preferred to say that was flexible. He had things he wouldn't bend on, but people were more easily charmed when you didn't act stubborn. Besides, there were plenty of ways to act like you were compromising but still achieve the original goal you wanted.
"Oh is that your excuse?" He'd teased her about revealing her weakness before, but this was really too much. A few drinks and already she could hardly stay on her feet? She really should look into getting it fixed. "Yes, Kendra?" Hm, now wasn't that an interesting reaction? For someone who didn't like being picked up she was being awfully clingy all of a sudden. An eyebrow raised at the pause in her words. Ah, she was getting red again. "I figured it was safer for you up here than down there. Would you like to sit down instead?" Hard for her to hurt either of them that way.

"Proving it, of course." A closed-lipped smile began to spread across her lips, though she made certain to keep it small. Flexible made things easier, certainly, but it made people think they could walk all over you. And that wasn't anything Kendra wanted.
"It is my excuse, yes." She might just end up getting that weakness fixed later on. Sure, all she had to do was shove something into her NUIP and she'd be ready to go, but that didn't matter right then. Her gaze cast away from him again when he said her name, lips pursed in annoyance. Jeez, what was he doing? It would have been easier if she picked him up, and with how far off the ground he had her - it was annoying.
"I'm not sure it's safe when I'm in your arms, Samuel." She gripped him tighter, her legs moving slightly higher on his hips. "Sitting down would be better, I think. We can pick the dancing up again in a moment. I just need a moment to... Cool off." All she needed to do was get away from him and it would be fine.

"If you say so." He was fine with letting some people think he was easy to influence. It made them much easier to surprise. With Kendra's personality, he had little doubt most people were always on guard around her. It made it harder to get things done. But to each their own, he supposed.
"Well at least you admit it's bullshit." Was it so hard to be close to him, though? Well...despite her protests, he doubted that it was. Even in her drunk state, if it was something she really didn't want, he had no doubt she would ( violently ) get herself far away from him. Lightweight or not, she wasn't so idiotic as to put herself in a state where she couldn't protect herself. But no, he didn't think he would have let her pick him up. He didn't trust her much to do that, sober or otherwise.
"Ah, you hurt me." She was plenty light enough, really. And while he may not have her excessive skills, he was hardly weak. "But if you say so. Though most people tend to get some actual dancing done before they need a break from it." He moved away from the dance floor, still carrying her as he moved towards the couch. Samuel swiveled slightly so that he could sit down on it, placing her in his lap. "Better?"

On guard with him, or when on the job, yes. Ah, but normally she could be quite charming. It was easy enough to get people to let their guard down, even if he thought she couldn't do so. He didn't need to see that side of her. He could keep with the prickles.
"I can admit things once in a blue moon, yes." Really, it wasn't just him. Being close to anyone was difficult. Sure, she could enjoy it - but doing it of her own freewill couldn't have proven more difficult. Though, on the subject of being unable to protect herself - he couldn't have been more right.
"You've suffered worse, I'm sure." Gene mods could do wonders to get someone physically fit. Sometimes she wondered if he even worked for his physique, then she stopped caring about that detail. "Well you're already holding me, and I'd hate to part so soon." Her eyes rolled, though once he started moving she kept her grip on him. And when he say down, her face once more had taken on a red hue.
"This can work..." She muttered under her breath, though she didn't move her arms from around his neck while adjusting her legs. Ah, she was starting to feel a bit awkward. But she didn't want to move, odd.
"Hopefully you're comfortable with my being this close." Kendra mentally cursed. That sounded horrid, what was she doing?

What had he done to earn such ire from her? My my, was he special to her in some way? He couldn't imagine why though. She wasn't exactly the sentimental sort. "Ah, then should I have recorded it? I expect I won't hear anything of the sort for a while." What an incredibly awkward person though. He was fully aware that not everyone was as comfortable with human contact as he was, but it was hard to be a functioning adult with a complete phobia of it.
"No no, my pride had never been more wounded." Well, it was a mix. Certainly he had some help on the way, but he trained enough on his own. It was necessary as part of the academy, and better reflexes and muscles in general wouldn't do you much if you had no clue on how to use them. "Ah, so you like it then." She was trying to act nonchalant about it, but he couldn't say she did it very well. It was amusing, he supposed. One of his hands moved from her waist to toy idly with the end of her hair, an eyebrow raising at her as she spoke. "I'm perfectly fine. And are you comfortable, Kendra?" He grinned slightly, leaning towards her just a bit. What an interesting development.

A special pain in the ass, yes. A short laugh left her at the recording comment, and all she did was shake her head. "No reason for such a thing. Just savor it while you can." Really, there were more awkward people out there. And she didn't have a phobia of being touched, she wasn't that bad.
"Like it? I'm not sure it's been long enough for me to judge just yet." Considering she had never been in such a situation, of course acting nonchalant would be difficult. Not everyone could melt hearts and drop panties like he could. Her face grew hot when he leaned forward, her hand moving to idly run through the back of his hair. Soft. It felt nice between her fingers.
"I could be more comfortable." What was she saying? What was she doing? Kendra felt herself lean closer to him, her fingers pulling through his hair and rubbing circles against his scalp. "Though I'm not sure if you could provide that."

But still special. Though he couldn't imagine what possibly made him so much more annoying than anyone else she came into contact with. He wasn't even purposefully trying to irritate her. "Ah, so you expect me to live off of the mere memory then? That's awfully romantic of you." And perhaps it wasn't a phobia, but there was certainly something or other that was odd there.
"Well you said you don't hate it, no? So there's really only one other option there. But we have plenty of time for you to decide, I suppose." And really, being charming wasn't all that hard. There was an art to it, but it was one that could be learned. A breath left through his nose as her fingers ran through his hair. Ahhhh, was that a challenge? He laughed slightly, his hand moving away from her hair to cup the side of her face, bringing it just a few inches away from his own. "I think you're doubting my abilities, Kendra."

"What can I say? I'm a bit of a romantic." Something about him just rubbed her in a strange way. Nothing she could place, but it was there. It didn't much matter. And really, she just enjoyed her personal space.
Ah, but... Did he like that? Kendra's lips pulled back into a smile, the laugh sending chills up her spine. The were so close she could feel him breathing. Such an intimate moment she didn't expect with such a man. The feeling of his hands on her face made her heart pound, and she couldn't look away. She didn't want to.
"Don't I always doubt you, Samuel?" Her voice was barely above a whisper while she moved closer to him, their lips very nearly brushing - Before a loud ringing in her ears caused her to flinch back. Not now. Why now? A frustrated look crossed her face, a look of annoyance and rage she rarely showed.
"Hold that thought." God damn it, of all times? Of all the times to get a call from the SP. Her hand stayed in his hair, the other running through her own to try and calm herself down while listening to the report. An attack was happening three blocks down, and they needed everyone near the vicinity to mobilize. She had to leave. She actually had to leave. Kendra felt her heart sink.
"I have to go." She didn't want to.

"Ah, now there's the surprise of the century." And personal space was different from finding it incredibly difficult to touch others of your own free will. And the feeling wasn't unpleasant, no. Her hands were perhaps a bit rougher than those he was used to, but it was nice all the same. "Apparently. I'll have to fix that." He smiled, leaning forward to close the distance between them.
Or not. An eyebrow rose as she jerked back suddenly. Well that was an intriguing expression on her face. Had she been looking forward to it so much? He couldn't hear anything, but it was easy enough to guess that she was getting a call. He leaned back against the couch, watching with quiet bemusement as she listened to whatever was going on inside her head. And then came her next words. So it was most likely Secret Police work then. What a pity.
Samuel's shoulders shrugged, his hands dropping away from her. "If you must. Make sure you sober up before you do anything dangerous." Well, he supposed he wouldn't have to worry about giving her a ride home anymore. He was hardly going to wait until whatever disaster this was blew over. "I'll cover the meal I suppose. Off you go."
